Sunset Crest Villa Rental Photos and Description

Beautiful 3 bed villa, sleeps 5 with private pool, walk to beach & amenities

This single storey detached 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom villa is light, bright and very comfortable. Membership is included to the newly rebuilt, 2014, luxury, members-only Sunset Crest Beach Club directly on the beach. As well as a private pool at the villa you can also swim in the large Beach Club pool with lockers, showers, changing rooms and loungers directly accessing the beautiful sandy beach and adjoining the Beach House bar and restaurant. Watch the sailing boats drift by as you sip a cool margarita on your lounger.

The villa is set within its own fully enclosed tropical garden, it has a private swimming pool and sun deck. The wrap-around covered patio provides ample space for outdoor BBQs, relaxing or sipping a cold cocktail.

Careful use has been made of locally sourced materials. The villa has beautiful pickled pine ceilings and wardrobes, pale ceramic floors throughout, coral stone light sconce and prints by local artists.

The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. A further bathroom is shared by the two remaining bedrooms. All bedrooms have air conditioning units fitted and ceiling fans. The lounge/dining room has 2 ceiling fans.

The kitchen overlooking the garden and pool includes a dishwasher, top loading American washing machine, electric oven and fridge freezer.

The villa has its own allocated off-street parking.

Ideally situated in the heart of St James on the West Coast, 180 Biflora provides a quiet, relaxing place to stay a few minutes walk from some of Barbados' best restaurants and attractions. Whether you decide to hire a car or not, there is plenty to do around Sunset Crest and Holetown all within walking distance. Travelling around the island is easy by bus, hiring a car or by taxi.

The villa also has access to the Sunset Crest beach club, via a security card. There is a large communal pool with free loungers and access through a security gate to the sandy beach and West coast board walk.

For lunch or dinner chose from local restaurants such as the Beach house, Zaccios, The Tides, Just Grillin, Elbow Room. Late night live entertainment happens at 1st Street. Sandy Lane is 5 minutes away, Daphnes and the Cliff are a 10 minute drive or bus ride; Cin Cin, the Fish Pot and Lone Star are 15 minutes away.

Self catering is easy with the supermarket approximately 10 minutes walk away, offering a good range of groceries including Waitrose produce. The local fish market is a quick trip (Paynes Bay) to buy ultra-fresh swordfish or barracuda for your BBQ. Fresh fruit and vegetables can be bought from the stalls at the end of the road. There are also a few delis in Holetown for more specialist food.

The Chattel Village shops are 5 minutes walk for local souvenirs or breakfast at the cafe. In February each year, the Holetown festival takes place. In August the famous Crop Over festival takes place with parades and celebrations throughout the island.

About Katie Shellard

Hi, I am Katie. Welcome to 180 Biflora Row, Sunset Crest. This villa was purchased in 2012 and has been carefully renovated. Modernising this lovely villa was quite a task, but I hope you will agree this is now a very comfortable holiday home.

The villa was built in the 1960s and we wanted to keep the traditional charm of the villa but add some modern touches, such as the pale ceramic floor tiles and useful dishwasher, All the linen and towels have been upgraded to cool white cotton and crockery and cutlery are all new with a generous supply of wine and cocktail glasses. We hope that you will find this villa a warm and welcoming holiday home.

We have high standards, keeping the villa clean and tidy. We expect our guests to do the same and respect the villa. The villa is beautifully cared for by our lovely housekeeper and guests will find crisp white cotton sheets and towels on arrival plus beach towels for use by the pool or beach. If you are looking for a smart, comfortable, Non-smoking, family villa, we would be pleased to welcome you.

Katie Shellard purchased this villa in 2012

Why Katie Shellard chose Sunset Crest

Sun, sun, sun! There are few places in the world you can go during the winter and guarantee it will be sunny and warm. And this is one. If you're looking for an escape from the gloom and rain in the UK or perhaps Canada, look no further. Even when it does rain in Barabados it is always warm.

What makes this villa unique

This is one of the few properties in Sunset Crest that has a private pool. If you'd like to take a dip at 6:00 a.m or midnight, the pool is only a few steps away. No need to share with the neighbours!

We have a very friendly and knowledgeable property manager - Rachel. She will meet you at the villa and show you round. She is happy to advise on anything you may need during your holiday, such as groceries, baby sitting, restaurants.

A membership card for the Sunset Crest beach club is provided and will also get discount at several local stores and cafes.

As we spend several weeks every year in the villa ourselves, we do try to ensure that there is everything you need for a really enjoyable vacation.

Holetown is the centre of the glitzy West coast and staying at Biflora, you are minutes away from all the amenities. This villa is within walking distance of the beach, supermarket, restaurants and bars. If you don't want to hire a car for your stay, you have everything you need a short stroll away. Taxis and buses are easy to get if you are sightseeing or going to the airport.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a find! We stayed in the same area (Sunset Crest) last year which we found to be quiet and safe and only a few minutes walk from the beech, shops and restaurants. The villa is set in the centre of a fenced garden and has been cleverly upgraded recently including a private, illuminated swimming pool and sun deck which is perfect for those looking to get away from people and not fight over sun loungers.

One of the highlights of our stay was that we seemed to be on the monkey route and several mornings we were being stared at by a troup of at least 15 monkeys walking across the fence. Magic!

The villa is very clean and smart and the kitchen is modern and well equiped and has a verandah perfect for dining and takes in the breeze. If the housekeeper Shirleen offers her daughter's services for an Island Tour take it as we did. We had a great day out which included St Nicholas Abbey (its a plantation house not an Abbey) and now makes its own rum.

Our favorite restaurant was The Cliff which was complete restaurant theatre and a must for a special occasion but Google it and book from home before you go as it is that popular.

We had a wonderful time and would have no hesitation in recommending 180 and we would be happy to go there again (and we have never said that before).

Nice villa in a fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

We flew with Thomas Cook from Manchester which made this holiday great value for what is a luxurious part of the island; Holetown and the nearby Sandy Lane where the rich and famous stay. We got a taxi from the airport to the villa where the very helpful manager Rachel met us and gave us lots of useful information. Set well back from the quiet road with nice gardens all around it, the villa feels very private despite there being other properties close by. The villa was very clean and tidy; we found everything we could need, including nice extra touches like beers and milk in the fridge on arrival, tea and coffee, soaps in the bathrooms and beach towels in the rooms. We spent a lot of time on the front terrace or lounging around on the sun beds in the garden which the owner has clearly spent a lot of time and care creating.

The supermarket is a pleasant ten minute walk past the nice chattel village shops where we bought everything we needed for a couple of BBQs in the evenings. We also ate at nearby Just Grillin which was very tasty and great value. There are several more upmarket restaurants nearby, along with luxury stores, but also plenty for non-millionaires like us, including the Surfside beach bar which is great for a rum punch at sunset.

We visited Bridgetown and the Mount Gay distillery by 'reggae' bus, which is a fun experience. We took a taxi to the Oistins fish fry on Friday too (60 barbarian dollars each way) and had a great time there. John Moore's rum shack is a short reggae bus ride up the coast and worth the trip to meet friendly locals. We took snorkels with us to the beautiful quiet beaches nearby and were lucky enough to spot a sea turtle, along with plenty of tropical fish and even a ship wreck.

We didn't use the aircon in the bedrooms because electricity will be deducted from my deposit, which is something I haven't experienced renting many other places before and a concern since I don't have any idea what electricity costs in Barbados. However the villa was nice and cool, as you can see in the photos the windows have bars on the outside and so can be left open at night. The pool is slightly larger than it looks in the photos and nice to cool off in the midday heat.

Overall the villa was excellent. Great value for a fantastic location in Holetown, where you can do as little or as much as you like on pretty much any budget. Thank you for an unforgettable holiday, we would love to return.

It was going home to home. It was lovely clean and spacious. All the staff that came to maintain the villa were lovely. We were close to supermarket, beach, restaurants, bars and manual left was very helpful. We look forward to returning again hopefully sooner rather than later.

Owner's Response: A lovely review - many thanks and we are so glad that you enjoyed your holiday in Sunset Crest. We try to keep the manual up to date with lots of suggestions of where to go, what the best restaurants are for all budgets, how to get around the island, and it is great if visitors want to add their own suggestions too. The beach is only a short walk away, but it is great to experience a bit more of the island and the culture of Barbados as well. We look forward to welcoming you back next year.

Wonderful vacation rental!!

  • 5 of 5

This villa has everything you need for a comfortable holiday. It's newly renovated and cheerfully decorated. The kitchen and grill make self catering very easy; the pool is fantastic and the covered porch is a great place to hang out any time of day. The property manager, Rachel, has everything under control and is helpful and available; there's a housekeeper who comes twice a week and the garden/pool are both regularly maintained. The gardens are particularly lovely with a large variety of flowering trees and plants.

We rented a car for our stay and kept busy. In addition to checking out all the shopping and restaurants in walking distance (great shopping!), we drove to Crane's Beach for body surfing (we parked at the Crane Hotel and got a "day pass" but it's also possible to park on the street); Bathsheba for dramatic views; Pebble Beach for paddle boarding; Hunte's Gardens; Ju-Ju's beach ("cool" place for low key beach day), and the beach at the Fish Pot (we hired Dwayne there to take us snorkeling; he gave us a fantastic coastal tour with explanations as to all the rich and famous homeowners, including, of course Rihanna). Our favorite restaurants: Cariba, the Fish Pot, the Round House, and Just Grillin. We made a daily stop at the Coffee Bean -- a short walk away for coffee and sandwiches. Food shopping was also within walking distance-- the supermarket and Posh Nosh, a gourmet takeaway offered everything we needed. And a short drive to Payne's Bay for daily local fish was another favorite. We are joggers and found an easy route from the villa -- up Salters Road and through the Sandy Lane golf course. My husband played golf at Sandy Lane and Apes Hill -- it's expensive but he said the back nine at Apes Hill is outstanding.

While the roads and routes around Barbados are in excellent condition, there are many fast aggressive drivers. Even crossing the street can be a bit hair-raising. But with some caution, it's a really easy island to explore.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your lovely review. We are so glad you had a lovely holiday and look forward to welcoming you back. I know that you are well acquainted with Barbados and it's particularly nice that you selected our property and I'm very pleased that you found everything accessible for people with disabilities. As the villa is on one floor, with only small steps into the showers we have tried to make this as accessible as possible for elderly or less mobile visitors. As other reviewers have mentioned, I communicate quickly and efficiently with visitors and our local manager and housekeeper are first class and nothing is too much trouble. Again, many thanks for your lovely review. Looking forward to hearing from you again soon!

Lovely Villa

  • 5 of 5

This was my 6th visit to Barbados as I love the island and the people there, however it was my first time in a villa as I have always stayed in hotels before, so didn't know quite what to expect, but I need not have worried as it was all straight forward to arrange with Katie.

We arrived in the evening to find Rachel the property manager waiting for us to show us around, she had waited patiently for us as our flight had been delayed so it was great that she had provided some groceries for us. The villa was lovely, larger than we were expecting, I loved the large shower in the En Suite. The villa was just as described, it was clean and well looked after. There is plenty of crockery etc. and a dishwasher so no need to spend time washing up! There is a maid who comes round to change the linen etc. who is very nice and friendly.

The pool was great, bigger than we thought from the photo's in fact plenty of room for all of us in there together and at 5' 6" deep, it was deep enough and it was cleaned a couple of times each week. The pool towels are great to have to use as this cuts down on having to take some in your luggage.

The garden is lovely and quite large, with a washing line to dry your wet towels and swimming costumes on, we were lucky as we had a fresh mango to eat which had fallen from the tree next door.

We did hire a car but you didn't have to as the beach, shops and some restaurants are quite close, the Chinese take away, tucked away in amongst some apartments is about 5 minutes walk and is very good value. The beach club had a large pool and beach access with showers to get rid of the sand, the bar and restaurant was very clean and served lunch, we had the buffet which was very nice.

We used the air conditioning and our bill for the 2 weeks came to £78.00 which is more or less what Katie had said it would be. Katie is very efficient and approachable answering any questions I had before travelling.

Our favourite restaurants were Cin Cin and Champers, we also went to Tides and The Beach house which are in walking distance which also served nice food.

I would not hesitate to recommend this villa to my friends and family and would definitely go back myself.

Owner's Response: Thank you again for such a lovely review. We really value these comments. We have had a few visitors who have only ever stayed in hotels before. But, as you can see, SELF CATERING IS SO EASY HERE. Just a few minutes walk to the supermarket and great restaurants, plus you feel much more part of the local community and get a real flavour of the beautiful island of Barbados. We have an excellent team in Barbados who keep the property spotless, and it is lovely to hear from visitors who have appreciated our much-loved villa. Do come again! Katie

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your lovely review. Our villa has only been rented for just over a year after being fully refurbished and we really value your comments. One of the main reasons we bought the villa was because of the easy walking distance to the gorgeous sandy beach, shops and fantastic restaurants. I'm so glad that our super-efficient manager made you welcome and that you had a great holiday. We hope to welcome you back again. Katie

If you are planning a beach or golf holiday in Barbados, 180 Biflora is ideal; only 5 minutes from the gorgeous West Coast sandy beach of Holetown. The villa is located in a quiet cul-de-sac in the heart of the peaceful residential area of Sunset Crest on the Platinum west coast of Barbados. It’s a quiet location with easy access to some of the best restaurants, bars and beach all within a 5 minute walk.

You have the added benefit of a private pool at the villa and use of the Beach Club pool and facilities at the Holetown beach. You can sun bathe all day long on the villa’s pool deck or sit in the shade of the patio, read and watch the bird-life. You’ll find in Barbados there is never a rush to do anything.

The villa is maintained to a very high standard which we expect our guests to respect. We value our maid highly and she will ensure the villa is spotless for you. All the louvred windows can be opened in the day to allow the east to west breeze to cool the house and give that outdoors/indoors feel to the place.

***

Sunset Crest is a lovely leafy mature residential neighbourhood scattered with interesting tropical trees, after which the roads are named. A tropical garden surrounds the villa with mature mango, palms, and almond trees for shade. Humming birds are regular visitors to the garden.

It is an easy stroll to Holetown, where you can find a supermarket, lots of different restaurants and cafes, boutiques, deli, Cave Shepherd department store and duty free, banks, post office and Lime Grove cinemas. First street offers live night-time entertainment on Friday.

For sight-seeing further afield there is a taxi rank in Sunset Crest, or the local buses run every few minutes to Bridgetown and elsewhere. Bus stops are within a short stroll. Car hire can be arranged.

We have a Welcome Pack at the villa full of ideas for trips around the island, useful contacts for all sorts of activities and a list of local restaurants and menus is included.
