Our cottage is a very lovely newly remodeled bungalow. in a quiet serene neighborhood only one mile from the Sonoma Plaza and near the Sonoma Creek.

The cottage is spacious and comfortable with 1600 sq ft and very charming. With an open kitchen, dining and living room which has 12' ceilings. There is a large wood burring fireplace with a gas starter, wonderful and for those cool autumn or winter evenings. We supply firewood for the fireplace and firepit.

The spacious dining room features antique oak table and chairs for six. All PRO WOLF stainless appliances and all clad stainless cookware, Wustoff Cutlery, beautiful bright red dishes, serveware and crystal stemware await your use in the kitchen. Everything a gourmet chef will need to prepare those perfect meals ! There is an undercounter TV also. We suppliy all staples and spices for your use. We supply Peets Italian roast coffee and special teas for you. No need for bottled water as we have a Culligan state of the art reverse osmosis water filtration system in the kitchen.

You will find two master suites each with queen size plush pillowtop mattresses and all down bedding including pillows and high count luxury linens. Each bedroom has a full bath with walk in slate showers and soaking tubs with rainshower heads and handhelds. We supply an assortment of high quality bath products including shampoo, conditioners, shower gels, bubble bath, and big fluffy white bathsheets, bathtowels and washclothes and there is a linen closet with abundance of more if needed.

The bedrooms are very private from each other and each one has a special feature one with sliders that go out to the patio and a lovely fountain and the other with a sitting room with nice down sofa and desk for computer etc. also a printer scanner fax copy machine and of course WIFI. Each bedroom has flat screen HD LED TV's and all cable channels are available. If there is another couple or a child who wants to stay the sofa in the living room is not your normal sofa it is a sofa bed that is very comfy with all down bedding and a feather topper. It is a very high end Restoration Hardware sofa .

.

Interior Walls are all soft sage colors with bright art and the flooring is Italian tile and oak . There are nice oriental rugs covering the floors in bright reds and sages. We have a library and DVD's for your use. There is a large flat screen HD TV in living room with surround sound system plus additional speakers on the patio. There are IPOD docking systems also.

Our patio and garden area are a standout and have been called by some a little slice of heaven'. There are walkways meanderng thru the large well manicured flower filled yard. Also a grove of redwoods and bamboo trees and Japanese Maples a large fig tree, a Meyer lemon tree and in summer a plum tree ..There is always an herb garden in summer months for your use. The patio itself has the same Italian tile that the house has. and it has a nice big firepit surrounded by large Adirondack chairs, A patio set with four comfy chairs and an umbrella for outdoor dining as well as a 48' Vermont Castings gas grill. There is also a flagstone patio with another sitting area in the sunshine it is wonderful on those days you want to just enjoy the sun the flowers and the quiet.. except for the birds and the squirrels. The yard is filled with 400 yr old Valley Oak trees and offers a Wonderful 'ZEN' like setting. These words are how most of my guests have described the yard and most say they don't want to leave even for dinner as they want to spend time in the garden and patio. I have flowers in the yard year-round as gardening is my hobby so it is always easy for me to make it beautiful as I love it. The patio and garden area is surrounded by little white mini lights in the evening for a magical feel .

This cottage is for people used to only the best. I have hosted two PGA Golf PRO's while they played the Charles Scwhab Cup Champions tournament. They both wrote nice reviews and loved to my attention to detail. Ask me who they are?

Evening times you can hear the sound of crickets from the nearby Sonoma Creek and either that or the waterfall will lull you to sleep...I am a designer/developer in Lake Tahoe and put my experience to work in making this a perfect wine country getaway and my husband and I use this as our own vacation home so it is in immaculate condition for each guest.

READ the reviews and you will see how very special this cottage is.

About helen Tanner

We are both in the real estate business David full time realtor Helen a developer/designer in Tahoe. We have been in this business most all of our lives and own and manage other properties ..We know what we expect when we travel and we try to do the same with the first class amenities we provide and the immaculate condition we have the cottage in for each guest.. David was born in SF and grew up in Redding CA where he was a fire Captain for CDF. He retired early to join Helen in the sales business. I was raised in Los Gatos CA where I worked with the family business of development and property management ..

We love to travel and go to new places but enjoy Maui the most!! We have traveled a lot and look forward to more but mostly we love to golf and travel to places where we can play the local and resort courses. We love Sonoma area for the golf and the closeness to the SF area as we love the theatre also.

helen Tanner purchased this cottage in 2005

Why helen Tanner chose Sonoma

We loved vacationing in the wine country and were tired of not having our own patio and comfy beds and didn't like being in sterile hotel rooms we wanted our own little cottage to have longer visits and be able to barbecue with a private and serene setting. We loved the restaurants and wineries and the Farmers Market the whole area is just heaven. We live in Lake Tahoe so needed an escape from the cold snowy winters and need a place that we will be able to golf year round. Now we love the spring, summer, fall and winter in the winecountry the vineyards are so pretty year-round.

What makes this cottage unique

We enjoy the quiet neigbhorhood the accessablilty of being so close to the Sonoma Market and the Whole Foods stores each within a half mile from the cottage. We also like being near the quiet Sonoma Creek area where we listen to the sounds of crickets in the evenings and we are near the walking trail that meanders thru the back of the town plaza and goes thru a few vineyards and the park..It is a wonderful walk.. We are dog lovers and love taking our dog with us on our walks..

We love our little cottage and you will find that it shows and it has a warm and happy feeling the min you walk thru the door!! We have some guests who have returned to visit our cottage now as many as five times.. When you walk in the front door you can see out to thru the big French doors the beautiful yards with big large old oaks and the white roses that climb the fence, the flowers and the big fig and meyer lemon tree. truly a gorgeous sight. The quiet is Zen like and some have called it my "little slice of heaven" it truly is.

Come and stay and see for yourself!!

Perfect mother/daughter birthday trip

  • 5 of 5

My mom turned 60 this year and we wanted to celebrate with a trip to the West Coast. Helen was absolutely amazing through the whole reservation experience. Her responses were sometimes within seconds! She worked with our travel schedule as we had to adjust our stay because of my work schedule. Helen's Winecountry Hideaway was absolutely perfect for us. From the beautiful property to the Peet's Coffee that was provided!

We had been traveling for a week when we arrived at the cottage so it was nice to have 2 separate bedroom spaces with comfy beds and my room happened to open to the gorgeous, peaceful garden! The personal touches to the cottage and backyard garden area are just lovely! My mom loves to cook and loved the well-appointed kitchen with the awesome stove. The location is perfect to relax with a glass of wine and a book on the patio with the twinkle lights around the yard. I am so pleased that I felt like I could contact Helen with anything and know that she will be in touch with me ASAP and not feel like a bother. You just don't find that kind of customer service!

I am definitely planning to return to Sonoma and will definitely return to Helen's Winecountry Hideaway! :-)

Charming Wine Country Experience

  • 5 of 5

Our family planned a grandparents trip to Sonoma and Helen's Winecountry Hideaway was the most wonderful experience. The home was very charming and comfortable with little details added (chocolates by the bed). The outside garden was beautiful with sitting areas to enjoy at any time of the day or night. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked to prepare the simplist to more elaborate meal. The location of the home was very close to the town square and wineries. Helen was wonderful during the booking process and we are so glad we finally had the opportunity to stay at her lovely home. We are already thinking about the next time we can return.

Our wonderful week in Sonoma

  • 5 of 5

We spent 7 wonderful nights at Helen's Winecountry Hideaway. Four of those nights we were with another couple. This was perfect because there were two big bedrooms and bathrooms on opposite sides of the house - so everybody had space and privacy.

We particularly enjoyed having a glass of wine outside around the firepit.

The kitchen was a pleasure and we ended up cooking most meals there.

I would highly recommend this property for two couples traveling together or a family.

Comfortable and relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family of three was in Sonoma for a birthday getaway. Helen's Winecountry Hideaway was a lovely home and perfect size for our family. The home was well decorated and every little detail considered to make it a comfortable and relaxing stay. We enjoyed the fireplace inside late night, sipping wine around the outdoor firepit and the lovely garden out back. The kitchen was well appointed and after days in a hotel it was great to have access to a washer and dryer. The house was a conveniently located to downtown and major roads to hit wine country and Helen was very easy to work with during the booking process. I would definitely recommend Helen's cottage for a visit to Sonoma.

Lovely, cozy, and charming!

  • 5 of 5

My husband stayed at the cottage to celebrate my 60th birthday and we had a wonderful time! Helen is correct when she says this rental for people who are used to the best. The cottage is the perfect size for one or two couples who want a quiet get-away in the wine country. Both bedrooms are spacious and private and have sumptuous pillow top bedding and luxurious linens. I am allergic to down and Helen was gracious enough to have all the down products removed from the back bedroom. But the bed was still wonderfully warm and cozy and we enjoyed a peaceful nights sleep all four nights of our stay. The master bath is also a delight with high-end soaps, bath salts, and lotions at the guests disposal, plus an unending supply of enormous, soft towels. The kitchen is also well appointed. I had a professional chef come in to cook our meals and special birthday dinner and even he commented on the excellent supply and variety of serving ware and glassware. All around a pleasant, relaxing experience. I definitely want to return in the spring when the garden is in bloom!

Perfect! Perfect! Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was perfect, fully equipped with everything you could ask for and decorated as a beautiful home, so much so that it didn’t feel like a rental. The backyard was also beautiful and had a few different areas to lounge. The location was great, a short drive to downtown Sonoma Square for shopping and restaurants. This was a girl’s getaway for us to celebrate a 60th birthday and it was perfect! I will be returning to this beautiful place with my hubby sometime in the near future.
