Keswick is the North Lakes' most popular holiday and day trip destination. Nestling between the Skiddaw Mountains and Derwentwater Lake, the town is situated in an idyllic location in the Lake District National Park.

Fantastic views, no information.

Simply stunning views from every window. Ideally situated a stones throw from the market place in Keswick. Outside entrance stairwell not for the unfit or infirm, as it is up 63 steps. Also the bed is virtually on the floor, as it is just a wooden frame 12 inches high, with the mattress recessed within. Not easy to get in and out of if you are not very mobile.
Had to collect key from Sweeneys bar 100yds from property, no problem and were show up to the door and checked all heater etc. were working before the gentleman left.
Wallpaper was peeling off in a few places and some small holes were in the windowsills, but not a lot that a little simple maintenance could not sort out in a few hours. Do not understand why this has not been done. It looked like there had been a built in oven at one point, as there were oven trays and roasting tins in the utensils draw. This has now been replaced with a microwave oven. Why then have the utensils not been updated? Nearly everything was available apart from a spatula for eggs etc.
There was underfloor heating in the bathroom and heating throughout. There were however no instructions for anything in the flat, no welcome pack or leaflets, no books, maps or dvd's. No instructions on what to do with the key at the end of the rental. We 'phoned the owner and it had to be returned to Sweeney's.
Plenty of pubs and restaraunts in Keswick to satisfy every food choice. We used The Oddfellows in the Main street for cheap and cheerful meals and also ate in the Packhorse Inn which we found to be excellent with a pleasant atmosphere. We visited the Puzzling Place and it is well worth a visit.
We would return to this accommodation again in the future without hesitation. The lack of information may be disconcerting to some, but We would recommend to family and friends, armed with the knowledge we have from visiting the property.
