Castro Verde is located in the lower central region of Alentejo. To the north are the historic towns of Beja, Evora and Monsaraz, Mertola and Lisbon; all beautiful towns and steeped in history. To the south, the Algarve with coastal towns such as Faro, Largos, Portimao, Loule, Albufeira, and Tavira. To the west, lies the stunningly, unspoilt beaches, estuaries and towns along the Atlantic Coast line. To the east, the beautiful countryside along the Spanish border.
Whites Lands -
Although it is characterised by vast and sunny plains, with apparently endless wheat-fields, the Alentejo always offers new landscapes. The plains of Castro Verde, full of thousands of white flowers during spring, are excellent for walks by foot or by bicycle. Storks, bustards, hawks and vultures prefer the solitude of the golden plains. Some streams are ideal for frogs, salamanders and tortoises, whilst Wild Boar prefer the oak plantations
