Spectacular Chateau in Normandy

  • 5 of 5
Fifteen friends shared this magnificent home while attending the World Equestrian Games in Caen. My commitment is to return to fully enjoy this Chateau without the distraction of dressage.
The photos and information provided are all very accurate. Arnaud the owner was very available and helpful to deal with during the booking and provided excellent information regarding the locale and guides (for a DDay tour).
The residence itself is jaw-dropping. Once the front gates open you immediately realise that you've made an excellent choice. The housekeeper Francoise was a smiling face there to welcome you.
There are ample areas for entertaining, both inside and out and a spectacular dining room. All the bedrooms are ensuited and very comfortable. Several are imposing to say the least. A couple of the bedrooms are relatively small (relative to the size of the chateau rather than the size of a typical European hotel room), but the communal areas are so numerous that it was very easy to find a quiet place to relax. The pool was well heated and the bikes were well used for morning rides to the local village. The grounds were exceptional - a twilight wander over the grass or through the trees with a glass in hand was a fantastic way to end the day.
The kitchen was well equipped; however thankfully we didn't really need to avail ourselves of this because of the wonderful Gwenaelle, the cook. After the week we were working on ways of taking Gwenaelle with us! After a day touring or at the dressage, to arrive 'home' at 7pm and have Gwenaelle preparing a wonderful repast in the kitchen was for many of us a highlight. Excellent food that we were more than happy to consume every night.
I will certainly be returning to Servigny, probably next time with my extended family. Whilst this fabulous chateau is full of history and antiques, it is so very livable and felt very much like a home for all of us.
For someone who travels frequently and widely, this was on of the best week's holiday I've had. And largely made that way because of the Chateau and it's staff.

Two weeks in July at Chateau de Servingy

  • 5 of 5
We stayed two weeks at the Chateau du Serivgny, with invited friends and family. It was a splendid time. The house itself, while large, is not overwhelming, but is cozy, charming and comfortable. The 4 reception rooms and well maintained, spacious grounds provided everyone of us with areas to congregate and also be to be private. Everyone has asked us the central question posed to those who rented a country house in France: how were the bathrooms? Here, they were excellent, newly tiled with first rate fittings and strong water pressure; each was en suite with the 8/9 bedrooms. The kitchen was also well equipped with an Aga type oven/stove.
One of the joys of northern France is the endless summer daylights; the sun set in July about 10:45 p.m. Our guests and family would go to play tennis or swim at 9 p.m. and we would sit down to dinner at 12 a.m, being unwilling to shorten the glorious days. Also, there were no mosquitoes and windows could be open at night.
Needless to day, we have recommended rental of Servigy to our friends and acquaintances and will most probably return in 2016,

Chateau de Servigny

  • 5 of 5
My family had the gift of renting this Chateau for one week over the summer. There were ten of us - ages 9 to 77 - parents, sons and daughters and grandchildren - three generations. For those looking for a peerless place to create lasting memories - this is it. Though the surrounding areas provide endless opportunities for excursions to stimulate the heart and mind - the Normandy beaches, the Tapestry at Bayeaux, Sainte-Mere-Eglise - you will be tempted, as we were, to spend many a day on the grounds...enjoying the pool, tennis courts and other group activities. The owner was most accommodating - and his staff very personable, including his recommended chef - who amazed us each night with a dinner that ended in applause. Of all the places my family has had the opportunity to share time away - this one tops the list.

As a group of 15 friends we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this spectacular Chateau. From the information provided before arriving, the wonderful welcome and tour from Francoise, the immaculate interior and grounds to the wonderful food by the staff. The facilities and the chance to experience staying in this amazing home have been an absolute privilege. Everything has been thought of to make this a holiday you will never forget.

Where wonderful family memories were made. Fantastic place!

  • 5 of 5
All of our family (8 adults and 8 grandkids) just spent a week there. It was better than advertised. It exceeded our expectations and lifetime family memories were made this week. It was hard to become a commoner once again at the end of the week and some of the grandkids cried because we had to leave. The inside is elegant yet comfortable. Bedrooms very nice and lots of bathrooms. The grandkids loved the vast lawn, woods, and playhouse. There is so much to do and the bikes came in handy. It is in an ideal location for WWII sites and Mont St. Michel. The staff is excellent, housekeeper is so helpful, groundskeeper very handy and the evening cook was wonderful. We looked forward to the evening meal each night. Table sits 18-20 and each night was a great event. So nice to have a washer and dryer to use.
Owner is very responsive and easy to work with. We couldn't have picked a better place, we felt like Texas royalty for the week. Much thanks to the owner and staff.

Fantastic Weekend Get-Away!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed here for a weekend in April and it was better than anything we could have ever imagined! The chateau and grounds were spectacular and offered ample to do. The bikes were perfect for exploring nearby villages, and the chateau itself was very convenient for visiting D-Day sights. The breakfast was amazing--exceeding most European standards of a breakfast! Perhaps the greatest part of this stay was being able to stand in a piece of history--the room where the Cherbourg Treaty was signed. It was amazing to be able to see the artifacts and really feel the history come alive. I'd highly recommend staying here to anyone coming to Normandy!
