What a great place to stay

We had a fabulous time for our half term break.
After a great welcome from the owner we soon settled in.
The chalet is beautifully decorated, modern, clean and bright, everything is spotlessly clean.
The kitchen has everything you could possibly need and more.
This is a really great place if want some peace and quiet with excellent access to a wonderful beach.
We have two dogs who absolutely loved the location and could not wait to get down to the beach in the morning!
It is a wonderful base for exploring the island, easy road access with short distances to all the attractions.
We have been to the island many times and would not hesitate to book here again.
Many thanks for a great holiday!
Owner's Response: We are so pleased your family including your dogs had such a great holiday. We thank you for your kind comments and look forward to accommodating you again in the future.

Perfect for couples or young families.

We stayed here as it was only a short distance from Sandown - walking or driving - with lovely costal and cliff views from on the site. It was just as described, and had all the necessities needed, even for bad weather, meaning sitting in the chalet all day. The property was clean and very well maintained, with only a small fault that was more likely the cause of previous of people who have used the chalet. Although we found the chalet perfect for our needs, we don't think it would be suitable for older families, however for a couple like ourselves, and for families with small children, it would be an ideal place to stay. Although we didn't see the owners until we were leaving, they were helpful and always in contact if needed, up to and during our stay. Being such a small island, any activity or attraction you could wish to visit is within driving distance (no more than 45 minutes drive). We would highly recommend this as a place to stay and would very much like to come back at some point.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and your comments. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay at our chalet and we would love to see you back again, hopefully the weather will be kinder to you next time.

The Burrows is lovely!

The Burrows is lovely - we stayed at this lovely chalet a year ago at this time. We found it to be of a high standard in terms ownership service and care. We were concerned after reading a previous negative review, however there were no signs at all of dampness and mould. It was spotlessly clean and well equipped, this chalet is ideally situated on one of the best areas of the site. It is a good base to explore the Island, and ideal for both couples and families. Our doggy loved the cliff and beach walks. We were greeted by Jan and Brad upon our arrival who offered assurance of any problems should they occur. However we did not found anything to complain about. We have booked for next year!!!
Owner's Response: We are so pleased you enjoyed another holiday in The Burrows and thank you for your positive and kind comments. We look forward to welcoming you again next year.

Chalet 117 'The Burrows'

Chalet 117 'The Burrows'

The stay started well the chalet on the surface looked lovely. Unfortunately my husband was a little unwell on arrival with Laryngitis but was on the mend. We didn't really explore the first day as we were tired from travelling and we had to unpack and tend to our 4 year old and 9 month old daughters. We decided to explore the next day and were very disappointed to find such a dilapitated holiday park also the cliffs are eroding meaning it is unsafe to use the footpaths down to the sea front. Unfortunately during our stay not only did my husband get worse but I became ill as did both my daughters, it was'nt until the last night that on moving the travel cot (that my 9 month old was sleeping in for the 5 previous nights) away from the wall that I was shocked and disgusted to discover that there were patches of mould up the wall and the floor and skirting was wet. That night my husband, myself and my 9 month old slept in the lounge. We were due to leave on the Friday and before doing so we checked other areas of the chalet only to discover more areas of damp and mould under the sofa, along the skirting of the outsde wall in the lounge area, behind the bunkbeds (the other room my other daughter had been sleeping in!) some wet patches on the floor and under the bunk beds and more mould around the window in the double bedroom. This explained why we had all become unwell as Laryngitis isn't contagious! We did leave our findings for the owner but were practiaclly called liars in a response, my husband was blamed for infecting the rest of us and we were even accused of breaking the sofa!!! Impressive customer service to say the least! We never asked for a refund we just wanted some sort of reply and perhaps even an apology. Please be aware if you stay here especially with children its a health risk.
Owner's Response: I was not given the opportunity to address any of the the complaints that were being made as despite my offer of my mobile number in the event of any problems no contact was made in the 6 night stay. The first I knew of any disatisfaction was a note left in a glass on a table with a list of moans, including a rug that slipped and 'got on their nerves' after an inspection of the property we found no signs at all of dampness and mould as suggested. The property has been occupied since this time and I await the latest review with interest.

The Burrows...Fantastic holiday!!

5 of 5
Submitted: August 9, 2012 Stayed: July 2012
Well this fabulous chalet certainly lived up to expectations. As described, it was recently decorated in a modern style, which gave it a luxurious feel. With our family of 4, there was plenty of space and storage. Jan met us at the property and was very welcoming. There were plenty of extra touches throughout.

The holiday park itself was lovely and quiet. We enjoyed being based away from the hustle and noise of the main part of Sandown. This chalet was part of a square with a quadrangle of grass right outside. It was perfect to relax in and the children all enjoyed playing together in the early evenings.

The location was ideal...a short stroll along fabulous views led to the beach at Yaverland. The beach continued all along to Sandown, but in our opinion, Yaverland was the best part! There was plenty of activities in Sandown and again all within walking distance. In the other direction, was a cliff walk to Bembridge Fort and beyond.

It was a great base for visiting plenty of attractions. My favourites included the Garlic farm, donkey sanctuary, the fish haven at Ventnor (amazing chippy!) and Steephill Cove is a must.

All in all this was a fantasic holiday and I would highly recommend a stay at the Burrows.
Owner's Response: I am so pleased that you and your family enjoyed 'The Burrow's and the Isle of Wight so much it seems you took full advantage of all the activities that the island had to offer. It was a pleasure to have you staying in our chalet and we would love to welcome you back again.
