This private estate consists of a large luxury villa sleeping 12, and a separate luxurious two-storey stone house, named the Writers Retreat, sleeping 2. Dolphins Leap is located just above the beach and within 10 minutes walk of the tavernas in Lefokastro. From the large open terraces there are fantastic sea views. The property is in a stunning location set just above the beautiful unspoilt Gournas beach. With panoramic views, breath-taking sunsets, and loads of space, indoors and out, Dolphin's Leap is ideal for two families (even three) or a group of friends wishing to share in a very Greek unspoilt seaside location. The main shopping centre is only a 10-minute drive away in the hilltop town of Argalasti).

For anyone wanting to explore the local coastline by sea, Dolphin's Leap has its own private mooring below the house. The owner can arrange the use of a private motor boat during summer months (contact owner for details) or alternatively can arrange boat hire to meet more specific requirements.

The luxury villa has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, the separate house the Writers Retreat has 1 bedroom and one bathroom. In the Luxury villa on the ground floor is a spacious open plan sitting/dining and kitchen area, with large open fireplace and comfortable seating for all. On the open terrace in front of the villa is a luxurious outdoor dining area for up to 14 people, with shaded canopy in the day and night-time lighting to support al fresco dining at all hours. The villa has its own stunning 9x5m infinity pool with uninterrupted panoramic views of the sea and the mountain villages of Mount Pelion. The numerous terrace areas around the property provide ample space to relax and take in the views. The property has satellite tv and wifi broadband throughout.

I run Dolphins Leap with my husband, Nick. In search of a plot by the sea we discovered this unique place in Pelion and together with the local craftsmen created our beautiful house by the water's edge. We finished the build in 2011. Why Pippa Dale-Harris chose Magnisia/Pilion

This the perfect luxury escape for a group of friends, a large family or two or three families wishing to share. This villa has been designed and built with large groups in mind. A main house is divided into two separate wings and a beautiful two storey annexe provides spacious accommodation for two. The property is right next to a sandy beach, has a beautiful infinity pool, large open terraces and 7 large bedrooms. Tavernas are a 10 minute walk. Large kitchen and masses of outdoor space on flagstone terraces all with sea views. There is no need for transport here. Just walk to tavernas in the village or take the boat to neighbouring villages or amble along beautiful old coastal footpaths to neighbouring villages. This is a timeless unspoilt location on the sea. A sandy beach below the house, crystal clear water, more unspoilt sandy beaches and coves waiting to be discovered.

What makes this villa unique

Large open flagstone terraces surround the property from which breathtaking uninterrupted far reaching sea views can be enjoyed. The infinity pool is surrounded by a stone sun terrace which merges with the hillside behind and the sea beyond. Using the skill and knowledge of the local craftsmen we have been able to create something really unique yet in keeping with the local architecture of the region. It has taken many years and a lot of patience to achieve this. It has certainly been worth the wait.

The villa is secluded and totally private but within 10 minutes walk of the village of Lefokastro with four tavernas. We were a party of two couples (ages45-55) with children and adult children with boyfriends - 10 of us in all. The main draw during the day was the use of the boat to get us to the other villages along the coast. Affissos to the north was great for the adult children with it's beach bars and buzzing beaches. We preferred next door Kalamos which was quiet and had a super sandy beach - our favourite taverna had parasols and deckchairs on the beach that went down to the sea and served the best souvlakia (lunch at 2.30 pm when the sun was at it's hottest was great). Further to the south, Milina offered an extensive range of restaurants on the promenade and had the best pitta Gyros (as voted by the kids). The feature of the holiday was boat with the dolphins in the bay. We spotted them three times from the villa and the kids raced down to the boat 'Baywatch' style to catch up with them. On one occasion there were around 20 in the pack with 2 babies jumping at the same time as their mother alongside the boat! Truly special! Dolphins are quite slow in the water so it's not difficult to catch up with them - don't forget a face mask as you can jump in and watch them underwater in the clear blue seas. The best place to find them are in the bays to the south of the villa where they appear to feed. You wont' see them often but need to be ready when you do! - we saw them 3 times in 10 days. The villa was at it's best in the afternoon using the infinity pool and watching the truly amazing sunsets. My wife and I are keen walkers and we loved the waymarked routes (called kalderimis) to Aragalasti (where we drove to do all of our supermaket shopping) and up the dry canyon to Efetes. Also the one hour beach path walk to Kalamos was a regular trip for us. Our only gripe was the 4 hour journey from Thessonoliki airport- thanks to BA we got to the villa late at 3am! The drive down into the property is steep but easily mastered -even with our I litre hired Corsa!

Top of the league!

We spent the last week of September at Dolphin’s Leap. Any anxieties about having left it too late to make the most of sun and sea evaporated as we drove down the hill to the house. The sun was setting over the bay and the view was spectacular. Dinner around the table on the terrace was the first of all our meals to be taken out of doors. Breakfast the next morning was interrupted by a sighting of dolphins playing in the sea just below the house – what a treat.
This is the perfect place to relax – our only dilemma was whether to collapse by the pool, take the short walk down to the beach – where we were often the only inhabitants - or walk along the coast path for lunch at a taverna – hard choices!
The house was perfect – large spacious bedrooms and bathrooms, everything spotlessly clean (good towels and the unexpected treats of shower gels/shampoos etc.). Everything one could possibly need in the kitchen – enviously well-equipped. It was clear that a lot of trouble had been taken, and no detail had been overlooked, to ensure that visitors lacked for nothing. Great pool – perfect for an early morning dip.
This was our first holiday in Greece, and having decided on the mainland rather than the more obvious island choice, we realised the benefit of not having to rely on ferries to reach our destination. This is a relatively ‘un touristy’ part of Greece, and whether walking through the olive groves along the coast path, or taking longer hikes through the hills, the scenery is spectacular, and although we were too late in the year for the best of the wild flowers, one could image what it would be like in the Spring – that’s for another visit, and we can’t wait!
We cannot recommend Dolphin’s Leap too highly – don’t miss it.

If you are seeking a unique location with spectacular uninterrupted sea views from large open stone terraces (with unbelievable sunsets), an infinity pool, your own boat, direct access to the beach, crystal clear sea, and spacious luxurious accommodation then look no further. The property is west facing too so the sunsets are glorious. Tavernas in the village are in walking distance and there are excellent supermarkets, a 24 hour medical centre and shops just a 10 minute drive away. This is the perfect base for a wonderfully relaxing beach holiday in a villa which is very private and secluded but yet not isolated.

This is one of the last truly unspoilt parts of Greece, still off the beaten track as far as European tourists are concerned, but a popular destination for Greeks seeking peace and tranquility. In the spring and autumn Pelion is a popular destination for walkers, with a number of public footpaths running through the foothills and round the coastline. The villa provides direct access to a coastal footpath which provides a stunning setting for walks to Kalamos, Afissos and beyond. For sailors, the Pagasitic Gulf offers perfect sheltered anchorage for yachts, and a base to explore Pelion and the neighbouring Sporades islands, Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonyssos. Yachts can be chartered in Volos, and smaller boats (sailing or motor) can be hired nearby. Pelion is popular all the year round, with skiing in the winter on Mount Pelion - not alpine standard but with 4 runs and a ski-lift - all within 1 hours drive from the villa.
