Dreaming of a relaxing getaway on a remote mountain ridge with a great view of the Smokies? Wesser Heights Cabin is that place: a large three-bedroom, three-bath, Nantahala cabin with upscale furnishings and thoughtful amenities. With the Appalachian Trail just minutes away, you can enjoy a quiet walk in the woods or a longer day hike on the nation's most celebrated trail. Just five minutes from the Nantahala River and the Nantahala Outdoor Center, the cabin is a great retreat for those seeking relaxed solitude and for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy hiking, fishing, mountain biking, horseback riding, zip-lining, kayaking and some of the best whitewater rafting in North Carolina.
The spacious tri-level layout provides plenty of places for conversation as well as places for privacy. There are two large family rooms: one on the main floor with comfy sofas, a large flat-screen television, fireplace, kitchen and dining area; and one downstairs with a large sectional sofa, TV, foosball table, and wet bar including a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee pot. Both rooms have large windows to bring in the mountain views and access to one of the decks. The lower deck has a large hot tub for six, and the upper deck has plenty of seating, a gas grill, and an outdoor dining table.
There is a bedroom and a bath on each of the three levels, as well as a sleeping loft with bunk beds and futons. Each of the bedrooms has a television with DirecTV programming. Wireless internet is available from any room or deck.
The cabin is in a very quiet, secluded location with spectacular mountain views. Yet even with this privacy, it is only three minutes away from a convenience store and five minutes from three different restaurants. Shopping, art galleries, more restaurants and the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad are just 15 minutes away in Bryson City.
Wesser Heights is ideally suited for larger families, or for couples to share. The number of adults is limited to six, but up to four children can also be accommodated using the bunk beds and futons. And, the cabin is professionally managed by a high-quality local agency for ease of booking and reliable support during the stay.

Here we are enjoying the Blue Ridge Parkway in October.
Debra Holland purchased this cabin in 2008
After a visit to the Bryson City area in October 2007, we decided to look for our own place and purchased Wesser Heights Cabin in January 2008. We come up four or five times a year and enjoy sharing the cabin with our friends and family. We look forward to retiring to this area eventually.
We love being so close to the Nantahala Outdoor Center and having breakfast at the River's End. We like taking our dogs for walks at the Tsali Recreation Area or the Wesser Creek Trail, and sitting on the deck enjoying the scenery or a good book. The town of Bryson City is only 15-20 minutes away, filled with more good restaurants, shops, and really friendly people.
As per my 8 year old grandson, "this house was worth the nine hours in the car." His 8 year old cousin said "best house I have ever been in." The boys -- ages 4, 6, 8 and 8 -- really enjoyed the Ruby Gem Mines, Lake Fontana (swing rope into lake), and trout fishing. They all caught trout at Tumbling Waters Campground! Some of us went whitewater rafting with WildWaters at the Ocoee River -- adults only as you will go on multiple Class IV rapids. We all went tubing at Deep Creek; the older kids and the adults loved it, the 4 year old did not at all! We all want to come back for our next three-generation family vacation.
We stayed at Wesser Heights while we were in the Nantahala area for our annual fall paddling trip and it did not disappoint. As other reviewers have noted, the house was very comfortable and well-equipped. It's proximity to the Nantahala Outdoor Center made it an excellent choice for our group. The house was well-laid out and allowed for a variety of activities simultaneously. The bed in the master suite was one of the most comfortable that we've found in a rental property. The views from all the decks were amazing. We appreciated the hot tub and the provided plush towels after a long day on the river. The free-standing gas fireplace was beautiful and helped take the chill off the cabin first thing in the morning. The hosts and the management company were both excellent to work with and provided a lot of extras to make our stay even more enjoyable. We appreciated all of the instructions and labels which helped us both find items in the well-equipped kitchen and make sure we put them back in the proper spot. We made sure that all members of our party had copies of the driving directions. We agree with other renters that the initial ascent to the cabin is best done during daylight hours. The view is well-worth the climb! All members of our party were in agreement that we'd like to return to Wesser Heights next fall!
We booked this cabin for a 2 night weekend gataway. It was perfect for our group of 3 couples. All 3 bedrooms were comfy, each on a different floor which allowed for privacy. The bathrooms were also very nice and there was also one on each floor. The master room and bathroom was extreamly nice and felt very luxurious. The kitchen is truly fully stocked with plates, bowls, cups, glasses and all the utensils you will need. Pots and pans are in good condition and there is a coffee maker. We brought our first night's dinner so we only cooked on our second day. We made pancakes for breakfast and made pizza's for dinner. There is a firepit here, s'mores are a must. We didn't use the grill but there is a pretty nice grill here. There are lots of games here but some pieces may be missing, we brought our own games but we did use the poker chips and foosball table. There is also a pretty big hot tub, it fit all 6 of us comfortably. The decks are perfect for relaxing and taking in the views. We also walked down the mountain to look around a bit since it was a somewhat warm winter morning. Everything about this cabin is great. It exceeded our expectations with how well stocked, beautiful and spacious it is. Debra the owner is very helpful and responsive and so is the rental agency. They even called to update me on the state of the roads after the recent snow storm that had passed. I do suggest arriving in the daytime if possible. The gravel road is not very wide and it would be scary to navigate in the dark. We would definitely want to return in the summer so we can enjoy all the activities around. But if you just want to relax and stay in, all you need is lots of food, drinks a few games and maybe a good movie. We really loved it here.
Just returned from spending a beautiful week at the Weeser Heights Cabin. Believe everything that the previous reviews mentioned about how great this cabin is! 5 star accomidations! Overly impressed at how nice and clean and well decorated the cabin is. As you roam about the the three levels you find more and more features that surpass expectation for common vacation rental property. the kids loved the bunk beds and swing set. Roasted marsh mellows in outdoor fire pit. Walked the dog up the mountain road that leads to the very top. Enjoyed all of the peace and serenity that one would hope to experience when visiting the mountains. Not far from Bryson City, Great Smokey Mountain National Park entrance and just minutes from white water rafting, mountain biking, zip lines, hiking and more. We will definately make plans to return and recomend cabin to freinds and family!
We just returned from our trip to Wesser Heights to ride the Polar Express and had the best experience!! Fantastic area, beautiful location, and great amenities! Plenty of room for 3 seperate families with little ones. Cannot wait to return possibly for the summer but definitely next Christmas!
Beautiful, near nantahala white water rafting even for old folks. 40 minutes from Smokey mountain national park. Bryson City nearby for food and great pub for home brew beer, nanatahala tavern. Beautiful just to walk outside ones cabin. Cabin awesome. See for yourself. Thank you, Debra, for allowing me to stay here. Don.
Before our arrival, the owner answered all questions that we had concerning the property and the arrangements. The photos of this home do not do it justice. It was relaxing to sit on the balcony in the morning listening to the birds. The bedrooms are spacious with lots of room for storage. The master suite is very nicely done and comfortable. There was enough room for every family to have their own floor. The playroom downstairs was a fun place for all. After a day of hiking, the hot tub felt wonderful. I would highly recommend this home for families with married children as all of the bedrooms had queen or king size beds. I can also recommend white water rafting down the Nantahala River through the Nantahala Outdoor Center.
The only downside to the entire experience was the steep gravel road leading to the cabin. The road is well maintained and the directions were excellent, but I recommend arriving during the daytime. In the dark it was hard to see which way the road was going.
I would certainly rent this home again and have recommend it to family and friends!
