This large villa is well situated in the lovely, non-touristy, typical Italian town of Vico Equense. We found Vico Equense easy and cheap for food shopping, coffees (and pastries) and meals out. The local cheese, of which the town is proud, is delicious. The railway (Circumvesuviana) station is a pleasant 15 minute walk through the town with views over Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples. Rail travel to Sorrento, Pompeii and Herculaneum is very cheap (circa 1.5 euro), and the train runs every half an hour. There are great local coffee shops and restaurants all within 10 or 15 minute walk. Pizza a Metro is great for good quality food at a very reasonable price, and Signum opposite Piazza Kennedy did amazing food. You don't really need a car - you can catch the coach from the airport to the centre of Vico Equense, and the train will get you everywhere else. The villa is in a lovely private and very quiet park with access to the harbour - it is situated down the hill which makes it beautiful and worth the walk up and down the hill. Claudio and Flora made us feel very welcome and picked/dropped us and our suitcases to and from the centre of Vico Equense. We had a small teething problem with the electrics, which Claudio sorted out immediately even though it was early evening. We had a great time and would return in an instant if possible.
