Located in the middle of a French village, Marseillette is elevated and runs alongside the Canal du Midi and overlooks the Alaric Mountains. Only 20 minutes away from the historic medieval walled city of Carcassonne.

The three gites are named after the horses that used to work the vineyards. While the horses have long gone the stables have been converted to two gites and the owner’s house. The property is on a UNESCO world heritage site and the stables (and chicken shed) have been developed. Come and see for yourself!

We believe that holidays are important and we will do everything we can to make your holiday memorable. All gites are equipped with food essentials (it’s like going to your own home but in a different place) salt, pepper, coffee, wine, beer, dishwasher tablets etc.. Oh and yes a little lunch on arrival.

Tango and Bijou have air-conditioning which is lovely and cool also great to use in the winter months. Pon Pon will be having air-conditioning installed shortly.

Tango (detached) sits in what used to be the orchard of Les Petites Ecuries. It is set in a private walled and gated garden with a sole use salt water pool (13 x 7 meters). Sleeps 4 (super king and 2 large singles) and have plenty of areas to chill out in the sun or shade as your mood takes you.

Bijou (the chicken shed) is now a 2 bedroom Gite, with kitchen dinning and lounge area. 2 large patios offer shade and sun. With views over the large garden/canal and the sole use / shared pool and Alaric Mountains it’s a place to rest or play, you decide.

Set on the border of the Corbieres & Minervois wine regions, it’s just 15 minutes from the Medieval Cite de Carcassonne and 45 minutes from the Mediterranean beaches.

To do!: Local places of interest.

Activities: The medieval walled city of Carcassonne, dates back to the 6th century. What better place to see the children's jousting events in August each year, great shows to watch, especially for those little people in the family. Typically you will need to invest in a sword afterwards and luckily these are available.

The O2 adventure park might have you shaking in your boots, Mum, but hey the children will love climbing the trees and walking along the ropes 20-30 metres up in the trees. Great fun for Dads and sons.

Sigean, an African Wildlife Park is 30 minutes away. Drive through sees all those animals, our favourites the Lions, Bears are there right up close and in your face. After the drive through you can walk around and see the rest of the animals, a great day out. We suggest you take a picnic and find a nice spot under the trees in the car park.

There are lots of local markets to visit and pick up home grown & local produce. You have Olanzac on Tuesday, Lezignan Wednesday

Activities nearby: Adventure park, badminton, bird watching, boating, boules, canoeing, canyoning, cycling, drawing and painting, fishing, flying, go karting, golf, gourmet dining, gym, hiking, horse riding, mountain biking, photography, photography, sailing, sea excursions, shopping, sightseeing, skiing, snowboarding, squash, surfing, swimming, table tennis, tennis, theme parks, tree adventure park, walking, water skiing, water sports, white water rafting, wind surfing, wine tasting, wine touring.

Within a few minutes’ walk you'll find the friendly Terrace Bar serving drinks and basic lunches and a Restaurant serving more gourmet lunches and dinners. A mobile pizza van also stops in the village twice a week. In the nearby town of Trebes, an 8 minute drive away, you will find a good choice of bars and restaurants and all amenities including 3 supermarkets, chemist, doctors, banks and a tourist info office. Carol and Andrew Ross love rural France, the friendly people, the hot summers and mild winters, fresh fruit, blue skies, smell of cut grass and the sound of the village clock as it chimes the hours as they pass. Carol looks after the property while andrew works across Europe.

Carol Ross purchased this villa in 2001

Petites Ecuries is in the middle of the Minervois wine growing region, surrounded by grapes and great wines. The canal flows at the bottom if its landscaped gardens. Enjoy: sun by the two pools; a drink at either of the 'Baa Baa' Bars; a sleep under the trees; or a game of boules, come sample the fun.

Private, on the Canal du Midi, minutes from many attractions.

From the minute we were collected at the airport to the minute we were delivered back at the end of our two week stay it was nothing but brilliant. Tango was the nicest place we have ever stayed. Super-clean, and with everything you could possibly need. I can't really list all it had it had because it pretty much had everything! The pool was gorgeous, warm, and salt water instead of yucky chlorine. The property itself is very private, and Carol is very careful to check it's OK to come and make checks on the pool etc so as not to disturb. We hired their car that is available for the days we wanted to go out. A major, major bonus as it meant we didn't have to hire a car for the whole holiday. The air conditioning in Tango is brilliant, really good, so no uncomfortable nights... The area is fab, especially the wine cave down the road where you can get really cheap lovely wine, and Trebes is a great place to sit by the canal and have something to eat in one of the bars and restaurants. There are bikes to borrow if you fancy a cycle. Carcassonne is beautiful but there are also some great medieval castles and ruins to explore in the area. virtually untouched by tourism. In the village is a lovely little bar for food and drinks and an amazing boulangerie, which we went to every day.

All in all we all agreed, the nicest family holiday we have had, diving in the pool (it's really deep at one end!) at midnight in such a peaceful and beautiful setting is something we really miss.

On top of all this, the thing that makes this place so very special, and why we would go again like a shot? Carol. She is an absolute gem, and makes the place what it is. Thank you so much, Sue, John, Hermia and Oscar XX

This year was our second visit to petitesecuries in Marseillette. The house is very clean, all you need is available, even some groceries are bought by the owner when you arrive. The owners are very, very kind people who give you a warm welcome and do everything to make your holiday as pleasant as possible.
You can make beatiful trips with a bike (also available on the property) along the Canal du Midi, you can go to the beautiful place Carcassonne, Minerve, Narbonne, Toulouse or Perpignan. Along the canal du Midi there are a lot of locks, and it is very nice to watch the boats go through them.
There is also a beautiful lake nearby, but the own swimming-pool is great to. Marseillette is a smal town with very friendly people.
I would most certainly recommand this place to my family and friends, because in real life it is even more beautiful then on the pictures. If you like a quiet and relaxed holiday, then this is the place to be.

We are just back from a week in Tango and can't recommend it enough! A brilliant place to stay with young children (aged 4-8), they had the freedom to roam around in the lovely garden, the pool was lovely and warm, there was so much to do both in and around the villa and further afield! We will definitely be back for more! The owners were really nice and helpful. Best holiday ever! Will recommend it to everyone I know!

Myself and my wife travelled with our daughter (21 months) and stayed in the Tango villa. It has everything that you could possibly need and if not, Patrick, Carol or Andrew will be on hand to help you out. They were so welcoming and a pleasure to deal with. Our daughter loved roaming around the property, picking figs and boucing on the trampoline, while we enjoyed sipping wine from the region and cooking on the bbq.

They had bikes arranged for us and a little trailer for our daughter so we could get out for a spin very easily. It was also lovely to sit down the bottom of the garden and watch the boats go by.

The village itself is very quiet, with just one bar that closes at 8.30 and a bakery which has lovely pastries. But that made our stay even better because we just stayed around the villa. Trebes is close by which has a few large supermarkets and Carcassone is 20 mins away.

This was our second visit to Tango, prompted largely by our children who were desperate to return. Carol and Andrew are now living next door and are the perfect hosts, always cheerful and very welcoming (drinks, lunch, a game of boules or football with our children). In fact, it feels more like visiting friends than a holiday rental. Tango is everything you want in a house - well appointed, immaculately looked after and stylish decorated. The secluded location on the edge of the village (with a great bakery!) and next to the canal is prefect and the pool is as big as the house. The only worry with giving Carol and Andrew such well deserved compliments is that Tango might not be available next time we want to go - which we definitely will."

Petites Ecuries is located in the middle of Marseillette village, near Carcassonne in the southern Minervois region of the Languedoc. It sits on a hill between the Canal du Midi and the river Aude.

If your looking to see and experience an authentic French village, explore the many villages and picturesque countryside, discover great wines and wonderful food then come on down, you’ll love it. Or if you’re like some of our quests they just laze around the pool and garden soaking up the sun. Watch the canal boats meander along the canal du midi at the bottom of the garden.

Want to explore a little further a field then follow Cathar history, check out Beziers, Minerve, Caves (Dinosaur), Narbonne & the Mediterranean Sea, Sigean Wild Life Park and Spain are all close by.

Marseillette has Boulangerie, Bar, Hotel, Cave and in nearby Trebes & Carcassonne you’ll find supermarkets, petrol, chemist, newsagent, banks etc.

The property sits within a UNESCO world heritage zone.

Golf: Carcassonne has a lovely 18 hole Par 71 - 5,758 metre golf course playable all year round with views of the Pyrenees and which is only a 20 minute drive away. A unique course provides a challenge on most holes, testing your skills and technical ability.

There are several other lovely Golf Courses throughout the region. Toulouse, Mazamet and Montpellier all about an hour away. We would be happy to book for you. We have a set of Gallaways you can use if your pushed for space, or half sets can be hired for 10 Euro at Carcassonne. Green fees are around 40 Euro per person or 70 Euro per couple. The driving range will cost you 2 Euors a bucket. Trolleys and electric Buggies are also available.

The Golf Club terrace restaurant and its 3 course lunch (18 Euro per person) overlooking the 1st Tee is a very nice place to relax after a round.
