VILLA OLEANDER is a luxury 3 bedroom/ 3 bathroom villa in Mougins, sleeping 6-7. Set within a mature, south-facing Mediterranean garden with breath-taking views over the old village (15 mins walk) and the Bay of Cannes, it is available for year round holiday rental. Just 20 mins from Nice Airport and 6km from Cannes. The villa has been recently renovated to a superb standard with luxury bathrooms, a designer kitchen and air-conditioning throughout. The accommodation is arranged over 2 levels. At ground level, there is the open plan kitchen, living room and dining room, and also the 1st en suite master bedroom from which French doors open out to a large terrace linking to the living areas . Upstairs there's the 2nd en suite master bedroom with 2 private balconies and a third double bedroom with en suite bathroom. There's a separate laundry room. The terraced gardens and full size boules court are hedged and beautifully secluded, with olive trees, pine, oleander, palm and cypress tree.

The villa is in the 11th century medieval village of Mougins, famed for its superb restaurants and surrounding golf courses. Thanks to great road links, it is only 20 minutes from Nice Airport, yet retains its peaceful village charm. And whilst only 6km from Cannes and the Mediterranean Sea, it has the feel of being in the heart of the Provence countryside. Mougins is centrally placed to explore the coastal highlights of St Tropez, Cannes, and Monaco, not to mention the charming neighbouring villages of Grasse, Valbonne, St Paul de Vence, and Biot to name just a few. Immediately to the east, is the 427 hectare National Parc de La Valmasque and Lake Fontemerle. At a height of 260 metres, Mougins is well known for its winding pedestrian streets filled with art galleries and over a dozen excellent restaurants. Pablo Picasso chose to spend his last 15 years here, and in more recent times, the michelin starred Moulin de Mougins and the 5 star Mas Candille have cemented Mougins` reputation

  • The upstairs master bedroom has an en suite bathroom and French doors opening onto 2 private balconies with superb views across to Mougins village and beyond to the Mediterranean Sea. It has a breakfasting table on the east facing balcony to catch the morning sun. Also upstairs is a further double bedroom, again with en suite bathroom. Adjacent to this bedroom there is a charming private dressing room. The ground level master bedroom also has an en suite bathroom, again with French doors which open straight out onto the terrace overlooking the pool and gardens. This room can be made up either as a double or 2 singles. A high quality sofa bed can be made up in the living room as an additional double bed, allowing us to accommodate any arrangement of friends or family. There is plenty of space for a cot in either of the 2 master bedrooms. We also have a fold away child bed. A cot or high chair can be provided on request.

Gardens: The views to the old village with the Mediterranean Sea and Esterel mountains in the background are truly stunning. The pool and garden are beautifully lit at night time. One of the most delightful features of the garden is a full size boules court on the lower terrace- great afternoon fun! We have just added a magnificent decked area beneath our fabulous palm tree - the perfect place for relaxing in filtered sunshine. It has a viewing gallery overlooking the boules court for the non players. There is patio heater here for cooler evenings. On the lower balcony, there is a choice of easy to use gas or conventional barbecues. By the pool is an outdoor shower and a pool house (equipped with drinks fridge and sheltered seating.) The pool is alarmed. The villa is secured by remote controlled electric gates.

Golf: There are a dozen golf courses within 45 minutes of Mougins and within 5km of the villa there are three excellent courses, two of which can compete with anything in Europe. There are courses to suit all budgets. The closest course to the villa (5 minutes' drive) and one of the best around, is Cannes Mougins, which has hosted European Tour events 14 times with winners including Seve Ballesteros. Green fees are €150 per round (including a buggy) and it is worth every cent! Just the other side of the village is Royal Mougins, which is a very exclusive golf club with a course to match. Fees are €200-€250 (including a buggy), but be sure to book well in advance as the club only allows 20 non-members per day. Only a ten minute drive from the villa, is Saint Donat, on the road between Mouans Sartoux and Grasse. The green fees are only €73 which is fantastic value for money. The course is not long, but intricate and testing; it always seems to be in great condition. Others a little further away but well worth a mention include the famous Four Seasons golf resort of Terre Blanche, which has two championship standard courses; le Riou is the shorter, but tighter; le Château is over 7,000 yards and is a true test for any standard of player. Also Château de Taulane, beyond Grasse into the mountains- a stunning Gary Player designed course (green fees are €100 per round), and then Monte Carlo golf club- set high above the principality of Monaco with the most breathtaking views of the area.

Magical Mougins

Thank you for sharing your beautiful villa with us for the past ten days. Our experience in the South of France was nothing less than magical! The villa was the perfect home for our travels to Italy, Avignon, Monte Carlo, and all over.

We fell in love with Mougins, which was wonderfully convenient - especially for dinner. The accommodations were lovely - the amenities and special touches truly made us feel at home. If only we could take the magnificent vista with us back to our very flat landscape in New Mexico. C`est la vie!

Our only regret is that we must leave, but we hope to be back again soon…

FABULOUS VILLA HOLIDAY

Just looking at Villa Oleander to book again with the family for next year, and thought I would add a note.
We visited in June with friends to celebrate my 40th birthday. Absolutely beautiful!
The villa is stunning, and furnished in style, yet very comfortable - we felt instantly at home. The location couldn`t be better - very peaceful but close to all the Cote d`Azur attractions. Mougins itself, for those who don`t know it, is a fabulous medieval village – great restaurants within walking distance, and the view from the villa to the old village.… the photographs just don`t do it justice! We sat for hours on the balcony drinking wine and admiring the view.
The communication with the owner was excellent and very professional.
Probably not the cheapest villa, but there is quality throughout, and worth every penny to make a superb upmarket holiday.
Would recommend to a family or group of friends.
