There are games/cards to play, books to read, toys and a collection of DVDs will keep everyone entertained. A first aid and sewing kit are on hand should you require them.

Unlike Pernera and Protaras which are very quiet and closed during the off peak seasons, Kapparis is open all year. Restaurants offer local and international cuisine. You can sample Italian, Chinese, French and Mexican food and there is even a pub. Try the kleftiko and meze at Faliros and Karas which serve amazing local cuisine in ethnically decorated interiors. The supermarket, fruit shop, bakery and other shops are a mere 100m from the flat. Relax at nearby Fireman’s beach and catch a glimpse of Varosha, the ‘ghost town’ abandoned and uninhabited since the 1974 Turkish military invasion. You can enjoy many watersports at unspoilt Kapparis bay including parasailing, jet skiing, water skiing and wakeboarding, and hire a speed boat/kayak/pedalo or even charter your own luxury yacht! A small local zoo and viewpoint are worth visiting.
Paralimni, the largest town in the area and only a 5 min drive away, is pleasant with a wide assortment of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes. Three churches dominate the centre of the town and Panayia church houses an interesting ecclesiastical museum. Dine at one of the cafes around the town square which has an open air theatre, attractive gardens, a playground and fountains.
On the northern outskirts of Protaras, Pernera is a small coastal resort. It has a small but active harbour from where boat trips can be taken.
10 min to the south is Protaras, boasting a fabulous selection of blue flag beaches including Fig Tree Bay. There are a huge number of leisure activities including snorkelling, paragliding, and scuba diving. Children will love the 'Yellow Submarine', the 'Glass Bottomed Boat' and the 'Amazing Magic Dancing Waters' - a fantastic spectacle of fountain power, sound and light with an erupting volcano. There was also a small water park called Protaras Water park, which our two boys absolutely loved and spent all day there quite happily.
The rocky coast of Cape Greko has a number of walking trails and its idyllic waters are a perfect retreat for snorkellers or swimmers who want to avoid the busy beaches. Known for it's exciting water sports, cliff diving and historic lighthouse, a trip to the pristine location is a must.
Agia Napa with its amazing night life is a 20 min drive. The biggest water park in Europe, Water World, is here. Visit the stunning sea caves, a real treat. There are day cruises and boat tours and a visit to the stunning sea caves is always a treat.
Take part in the Carnival, a two-week period of celebrations before Lent. Green Monday is celebrated with picnics, outdoor fun and music and dancing. Easter is celebrated with evening church services throughout the Holy Week, a procession of decorated sepulchers on Good Friday in all parishes and traditional games on Easter Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
Annual events in the region include the Ayia Napa Cultural Winter with free concerts, recitals and dance performances and Kataklysmos at seaside towns with swimming, canoe race, wrestling and singing competitions. Let your hair down at the Cyprus Salsa congress the largest dance event in Cyprus held every year in Agia Napa.
Venture into occupied Famagusta and see the ghost town. Explore the ancient ruins of the once thriving port of Salamis where the famous battle fo Salamis took place and where Saint Barnanbas remains are said to be buried in the monastery named after him. A trip there for 4 in a private minibus with a guide will cost you E200 although there are tours and even buses which will drop you there to explore by yourself.
Cyprus: Cyprus is blessed with fantastic weather and has on average 340 days of sunshine a year!
With an expansive coastline providing a wide variety of beaches to choose from, ranging from secluded bays, to lively resorts, sandy beaches and rocky coves, you are bound to find the right one for you in Cyprus. Indulge in a myriad of activities like bungee jumping, windsurfing and sailing, coastal cruising and deep-water fishing. For the more adventurous there is skiing in the mountainous area of Troodos at the heart of Cyprus. Watch or take part in the Cyprus marathon, the Aphrodite half marathon or Cyprus International 4-Day Challenge held every year in Pafos. Other annual events include the Cyprus Sunshine Cup (Larnaca), Cyprus Seniors Tennis Cup (Larnaca), and the World Rally Championship (Limassol). This year also sees the 13th Games of the Small States of Europe and the first ever Cyprus Institute Solar Car Challenge, both being held in Nicosia.
Festivals held every year include the Berengaria International Music, Street Life, Amathusia, Wine, Afamia Grape, and Shakespeare Festivals all in Limassol. Plenty of village festivals take place throughout the year.
