Woodstock Cottage Rental Photos and Description
In the heart of Woodstock with a log fire, fitted kitchen and comfortable beds
A charming period cottage situated in the heart of Woodstock with oak beams, open log fire and comfortable sofas and beds. A superb selection of restaurants and pubs is only a few metres away and one of England's 'jewels' - Blenheim Palace - is just a short walking distance. Blenheim Palace is the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, Britain's most famous 20th century Prime Minister, and currently the home of the 11th Duke of Marlborough. Woodstock is also an excellent base for visiting the beautiful Cotswold's, Oxford's historic colleges (only 8 miles) and William Shakespeare's birthplace, Stratford upon Avon. Little Peacock House is a beautifully traditional period cottage that stands at the end of a pretty terrace looking down Woodstock's famous Oxford Street. The cottage sleeps five (plus a sofa-bed) and features oak beams, an open inglenook fire place, gas central heating and a fitted kitchen. The dining room has a solid oak floor with a refectory table and 6 chairs.
History: There are some fabulous walks around the Woodstock area including Blenheim Park, Wychwood Forest and Kings Wood - there are reports of James I hunting here early in the 17th century. The remains of a Roman Villa can be found just a few miles away and can be viewed as part of a walk between the villages of Combe, East End and Stonesfield where there is an abundance of Jurassic fossils. The village of Stonesfield is just 5 miles from Woodstock and is world famous for many vertebrate fossils and the discovery of the remains of many terrestrial dinosaurs.
Entertainment: Oxford is just 8 miles from Woodstock and boasts many shops, restaurants and bars and, of course, it's world famous colleges. Or you can take in a film at one of the Oxford's cinemas. Shopping is excellent in the city with many leading brands having a store there. Woodstock is on an excellent bus route with regular buses to and from Oxford. Many of our guests visit London which is an easy drive or there's an excellent bus link.
Blenheim Park hosts many events throughout the whole year including Music Concerts, The Blenheim Park International Horse Trials, Craft Fairs and many Exhibitions (please look at the Blenheim Palace official website for details).
