Bay tree cottage is a beautiful, romantic, traditional cottage which has been lovingly restored and retains all the original features, which include the original slate fireplace, which houses a wood burner for those winter evenings. The cottage sleeps up to 4 people comfortably and the location couldn't be better, as it is situated in the centre of Bowness, and is only a 5 mins walk to the shores of Lake Windermere. This self-catering cottage has a warm cosy atmosphere, yet has a contemporary twist. It has all the modern conveniences one would expect to have whilst on holiday, and has 2 beautifully decorated double bedrooms, with designer bed linen, and bespoke furniture. The cottage has a small, yet intimate, courtyard at the rear, which has seating for 4, and a BBQ for al fresco dining. Full sky package and wireless broadband available. . please see our other cottage advert on here 419288.
i have lived in the lakes so know the area very well, i also have other listings on this site which include the haven at newby bridge, and yanway cottage in troutbeck. i have been in the holiday letting business for nearly 10 years and previous to that i have managed our family hotel in blackpool for 20 years so have a great deal of experience in the hospitality business. all my cottages are decorated to a very high standard and i pride myself on the fact that the cottages are maintained constantly to ensure they stay pristine throughout the year.
Lynn Rawcliffe purchased this cottage in 2004
Bay Tree is a beautiful cottage and is located central to bowness village, it has a homely feel yet has a luxurious feel. all the restaurants and bars are right on the doorstep, it couldn't be in abetter location.
location location location, oh and the traditional features, the slate fireplace with log burner being one of them, its very cosy in the winter months!
Beautiful cottage in a great location, very close to Lake Windermere and local village of Bowness. The property is very tastefully decorated and the Xmas decorations gave a nice cosy feel. We found the cottage to be very clean, tidy and well presented. Only negatives would be that the shower in the en suite kept going hot and cold and the toilet doesn't have a very powerful flush. The village itself is full of pretty little shops and lovely restaurants and pubs - we ate in Porto's and the food was excellent would definitely recommend eating there! Would also recommend the Albert for a drink - it has a nice big log burner to sit in front of. If you walk down to the lake (approx 5-10 mins from the cottage) you can take a boat trip on the Lake, there a 3 to choose from - we did the red tour which takes you over to Ambleside, great trip and very picturesque. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and will definitely recommend this property to others! Hoping to book again soon.
Although the price was very cheap, I hate to say it did not meet my standards. The master bedroom had a very unpleasant smell coming from the en suite and the rug in the living room needs a good clean. The deco gives the cottage a homey look which adds to the quaintness of it, which I adored. I would still recommend people to go as it was very good value for money and the town itself is filled with polite residents! All in all our vacation was enjoyable. Thanks to Lynn for letting us stay in her beautiful cottage!
Just returned from a very enjoyable long weekend at Bay Tree... It was home from home with everything you could think of even down to tea bags & ketchup! Lovely decor, furnishings & comfortable beds. We travel fairly frequently and do enjoy high standards of accommodation, this lived up to our expectations.. The cottage was cleaned to a very high standard. Perfectly placed in the heart of Bowness with lovely restaurants & bars.... (Fat Olives nxt door but one is excellent) .. We will definately return here and will be for a week next time Frid to Mon not long enough....
What a beautiful cottage! Was cleaned to a high standard. Bedrooms beautifully decorated. Nice area for the dog to sleep (cottage is very dog friendly) Bonus of having Wi-Fi in the cottage and Sky tv packages (brilliant when it rained) Had a problem with the washing machine - fixed straight away. Eating out we were spoilt for choice. Local restaurants I would recommend - Roberto's, also The Albert does a fantastic Sunday lunch (all fresh meat and veg) Perfect location to explore the Lake District area. The cottage is right in the centre of Bowness with a short walk to the pier for boat trips on the lake. Windermere town is a 15 minute or so walk away. Plenty of shops for groceries, gifts and any other thing you could think of. Weather - Well it's not called the Lake District for nothing!
Congratulations on having such beautiful accomodation - would definitely recommend
We've just come back from a fantastic holiday in the Lake District, where we found Baytree Cottage to be perfectly located to provide a balance between the amazing walks and the fabulous restaurants and facilities of Bowness all of which are in walking distance. The cottage is also on the main bus route and the ferry is a 15 minute walk away, so once you’re there you can park your car up and leave it if you desire.
The Cottage itself is lovely, well equipped and very homely. Although we were fortune enough to be blessed with superb weather, the cottage has all the modern facilities including Sky HD and wireless internet so even on the wettest of days you’ll not bored.
Finally it’s refreshing to find such a lovely cottage that is pet friendly.
This is a lovely cottage in the heart of Bowness. We enjoyed a relaxing long weekend where we really appreciated the facilities in the house and the proximity to restaurants, shops and the lake. The property is clean and beautifully presented. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a home-from-home where you can really relax.
Bay tree cottage is located in the centre of Bowness-on-Windermere, and is only a 5 mins walk to Windermere. All the shops and restaurants are on the cottage doorstep, there is also a cinema at the bottom of the street for those rainy days. Lake Windermere offers cruises, and you can hire boats if you prefer to venture out on your own. Other activities are the Beatrix potter museum, horse riding, the list is endless.
