Rethymno Vacation Rental villa: Gerani

Just returned from a 10 day break, and wish we could have stayed another 10. Villa is fantastic, lovely and quiet, great views and the pool is superb. A tavena and a hotel with a bar/restaurant are within a 5 min walk if you want local evening out. The drive into Rethmyno with a huge selection of restaurants only takes 10 mins to park down the front. We also liked Georgeopolis which was only 15 mins in the opposite direction - nice small town with good beach and variety of tavernas and restaurants. All the locals were very friendly and welcoming. Perfect Holiday.

...some things have not gone very well.
The villa is recent, enough great, (we was in 3: two adults and a fifteen-year-old girl), with swimming pool, beautiful sight, enough comfort.
Problems found in our stay (14 days):
- the cleansing comes little carefully made (powder, burlaps of spiders, etc);
- (even if not serious) dvd player remote control is broken,
but above all...
- an army ants within house, in kitchen and on the plan of job and baking, not dismissable also with massive doses of insecticide!
A very serious problem, one that risks to ruin the villa and the holiday!Sin, because otherwise the judgment would be excellent!

The villa was clean, well equipped, well maintained and comfortable with plenty of room for our family of four. It is very nicely located on a small development which is cleverly designed so that the other properties aren't intrusive and there are pretty views down to the cove below and the surrounding countryside. The owner provided excellent directions and other information, and was very efficient in responding to queries.

The development is set in countryside about a quarter of a mile from the village, though there is a teverna down at the cove about five minutes walk away. A car is recommended, but I'm sure you could get by without one if you wanted a quiet getaway. However, Crete is so beautiful that I wouldn't want to miss getting out and about to see as much of it as I could. The whole island is accessible from the villa, but it would probably take a couple of hours to drive to the most easterly parts.

This is definitely not the place for party animals or those that like to have full English breakfasts and English-style pubs readily available nearby, but I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone else. I would certainly recommend this villa to any of my friends and family who were thinking of going to Crete, and I would thoroughly recommend them going to Crete.
