home away was exactly what it was

  • 5 of 5

We went for a secluded getaway and that's what we got a home away from home Jody provided everything we needed to feel comfortable you couldn't want for nothing except more time to stay there. if your looking to stay in bed all day the bedroom is not for you like the complaint stated but you don't get away to stay indoors you enjoy the clean air and quite time because no one is around to bother you. You enjoy the hot tub watching the sun go down and the bright stars come out at night or you BBQ on the patio and eat on the picnic table under the trees. We are definitely coming back as a matter of fact I took lots of pictures and showed them off to my friends who were envious that we found a gem. I'm online making my reservations for a girls trip see I just got home can't wait to go back. I even asked my husband when can we go again. Wont let you down . Thank you Jody!!!!!

Great getaway Cabin

  • 5 of 5

I booked the cabin quickly for a weekend getaway and it was exactly what I needed. I spent 3 days and 2 nights there, I ventured out quite a bit in the surrounding area as well for mini adventures. Cripple Creek, Florissant and Eleven Mile Reservoir provide a lot of recreation and all are easily accessible from the cabin. The hot tub provided a great relaxing end to each day. I will definitely be back! Jody is a most gracious host and

Disappointing...Overpriced...

  • 2 of 5

My husband and I stayed for three nights and were pretty disappointed. The cabin is not very clean and had many spiders. The shower area in the bathroom is in need of serious updating. The bedroom is extremely small and the bed linens were about the cheapest you could find. The bed sinks in the middle and made for tough sleeping. The kitchen did not have enough cookware, is rather beat up and there was not one baking dish. The cistern water had us worrying if we were using too much water and would run out. The hot tub, which is stated as new, was a bit of a bummer because the heat would not adjust so it wasn't hot enough and the jets do nothing more than move water around.

Running away for a few days, and spending a decent amount of money to do so, should mean you're feeling pampered, not worrying about all of this. Our assessment - this is a sub-standard cabin for the money per night.

Owner's Response: After reading the rambling, three paged letter that was left for me, I don't think my cabin was their problem. These people complained about everything. The nine month old hot tub with ozonator wasn't good enough for them. The new pots and pans didn't have enough teflon on them. There was a metal spatula in the kitchen, not a plastic one. The new, soft cotton sheets from Dillard's were too cheap. When they left, they left my front porch piled high with large tree branches and sticks, supposedly for kindling for the wood stove. Please, don't come back. I suggest next time you stay home.

Perfect little getaway cabin

  • 5 of 5

Everything in the cabin is just as advertised - it's cozy, well-stocked, and comfortable. There's plenty to do if you don't want to leave - sitting in the hot tub under the stars in the middle of winter or staying inside watching movies by a roaring fire or running around in the snow with your dog. But it also offers easy access to a lot of parks and snowshoe trails. The cabin is isolated but still easy to get to. Great place for a quick vacation from Denver!

Last Minuet Get Away

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and our two dogs have stayed here several times through the years, we have stayed at a lot of cabins, but this one is our favorite. I love the wood burning fireplace and relaxing in the hot tub gazing up at the tall pine trees, with the mountain birds flying from tree to tree, or at night with the crystal clear skies and all the stars, just breathtaking!! My husband prefers walking through the beautiful mountain terrain with the dogs, and the quick ride to Cripple Creek. It's just a great place for dogs too with a dog run included!

Thank you again Jody for letting us stay at your cabin, we will be back!!!

Sweet Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Bigfoot is a very cozy cabin. The fireplace heated the whole cabin at night. The hot tub was wonderful. My husband spent alot of time in the tub, relaxing his soure knees. We had never taken our dog on vacation before, so we took Skipper. He was right at home, and he injoyed being away from all of our other dogs. But if you find a cow hoof it was Skippers. The wooded area serrounding the place made the world disappear. The only thing that could have made our stay better was to stay longer. Thanks Jody.
