Guestbook comments from the owner

Very nice villa

  • 5 of 5
We spent nine days in this beautiful villa, and enjoyed every day. It is located a bit up the hill behind Stoupa, which gives a fantastic view of Messinia Bay. The owner, Akis, met us in Stoupa when we arrived, and gave us a crash course in the local services like super markets and beaches. Akis is very friendly, and was always happy to assist if we needed any help.

The house is beautiful, built in traditional Mani style. The rooms were clean and everything was working perfectly. The living room, kitchen and terrace upstairs was perfect for mornings and late evenings. The shaded terrace on the ground floor, outside the two bedrooms, was nice and cool in the hot afternoons. The pool next to the shaded terrace was frequently in use, and some days I think the kids stayed more in the pool than out of it. We also used the outdoor barbeque a few times to make some delicious souvlaki and pita.

The location was perfect for exploring the Mani peninsula.

Rathimata Villas

We had an amazing week in this beautiful villa. The villa was very comfortable and well furnished. The views were really something and although you have to hire a car to make staying here possible it was worth it. Evenings on the balcony with the view, beat going out, fine wine was all you needed. The villa was perfect and we would definitely return.

If we had to be picky we would suggest a tray to enable us to carry drinks / snacks downstairs to the pool/dining area and a toaster would have been useful, but they are not complaints just suggestions and so the villa was perfect.

Thank you Akis !!!!

Akis's Villa in Stoupa

Akis's Villa in Stoupa
  • 5 of 5
My wife and I are regular visitors to the Pelops but this was the first time we had stayed in Stoupa. It was not obvious to us when booking the villa but it is relatively unusual with the living/dining area on the first floor and the bedrooms on the ground floor. Certainly, having the pool next to the bedrooms was quite useful although the internal steps down the pool might not suit more elderly people and you would need to be careful if you had kids running up and down. The villa is very well presented and we are lacking in none of the amenities we would have expected. Akis was available, when required, and was kind enough to meet us at the local supermarket to guide us in on our arrival day. The road up to the villa (once you come off the main road) is better than many we have experienced where sometimes you feel that you are in the Rally de Greece!

Stoupa is a nice town with plenty of eating places and other services. Being Brits, we sometimes try and avoid our fellow citizens for at least one week in every year, but Stoupa does come across as 'Little England' albeit primarily mature couples (like ourselves) is the order of the day.

The Mani is great although somewhat lacking in some of the more historical opportunities that other parts of the Pelops present and although there are some good ones the overall quality of the beaches, if you prefer the golden variety, are more scare although Stoupa's is certainly acceptable.

One of the features that I really liked about the villa was the sunny and shaded balconies and I certainly spent a few restful hours on the latter and had a few beers on the former!

This was the first time we have booked a villa outside of an inclusive 'package' deal, it will not be the last and next time we stay in Stoupa then I cannot think we will go anywhere than to Akis.

Regards

Beautiful Place

  • 5 of 5
We had a truly great holiday at this picturesque villa overlooking the town of Stoupa, celebrating our 10th year anniversary.

We chose the villa after much researching due to the photos and description and its fair to say that being there is even nicer than the photos as the villa is set higher in the mountain than the pictures suggest. There's also a beautiful sunset when the sun sets into the mountains/ sea that you see in the inset picture. The villa is well designed, clean and nicely decorated (no clutter!), with good thought into the lighting design in the living room/ kitchen. Although we came as a couple, the villa would be suitable for a family as well.

The owner Akis is very nice and helpful, he even picked us up from Stoupa when we had car problems which meant him missing the start of the Greece Russia football game!

On the subject of cars, car hire is essential, but don't be put off by driving in Greece as it is not anywhere near as bad as most guides claim it to be, in fact we enjoyed it.

Of the local towns, Kardamyli village (both old and new town) is by far the best place to go and is about 15 minutes drive from the villa. Stoupa is less than 5 minutes from the villa and is a nice place with well priced restaurants, although it is a borderline holiday resort (note Kalogria beach is the better of the two).

We genuinely couldn't fault our stay here and would definitely consider a return to the villa in the future.

Wholeheartedly recommended

  • 5 of 5
We stayed in Villa Ialeira for a week in September 2011. What a lovely place - the villa fully delivered on its promises. Perched on a hill on the edge of NeoHori with great views over the Stoupa, Kardamili and Agios Nikolaos bays, it competes with the best.
Akis, the landlord, immediately makes you feel welcome when he shows you around the house. Villa and pool are immaculately clean and the house has been tastefully decorated.

It is ideally situated for trips to nearby villages, the Taygetos mountains and Mesa Mani. But even if you choose to stay closer to “home”, Stoupa has got a lot to offer with its wide selection of cafés and restaurants, its well-stocked supermarkets and of course its sandy beach. If you however decide to stay put, you should not have any difficulties keeping yourself entertained: breakfast at the upper balcony, lunch in the loggia, a little Ouzo at the pool side and diner a short uphill walk at the village kafeneion. Of course interlaced with the occasional dive in the pool, lazing in the sun and a book in the shade. Also available is a TV/DVD player with a moderate selection of DVDs to entertain the kids (big and small).

All in all a great place to stay.

PELOPONNESE REGION is the southernmost point of mainland Greece. It is a magical different region where you will discover the beauty of rural Greece.

- Spend blissful holidays exploring the stunning coastline with idyllic beaches and quaint fishing villages.

- Travel inland and will find a Tranquil Landscape untouched by time, Ancient Temples, Byzantine Churches and Venetian Castles that evoke memories of a forgotten world.

MESSINIAN MANI is a stunningly beautiful area in the southern Peloponnese region in Greece. It has fascinating and colorful History and impressive unique Architecture. Benefiting from an ideal climate, the absence of heavy industry and large cities, the area has a very clean environment, stunning mountain scenery and a crystal clear sea.

STOUPA is a seaside village of Messinian Mani with very ancient history which can charm the visitor all the seasons of the year.

STOUPA is packed with great restaurants, seafood taverns, bar and nightclubs, ATM bank as well as plenty of shops and places of historical interest.

STOUPA was once just a small fishing harbor, but its fine beaches, the best in the region, have made it a popular small holiday resort since the nineteen-eighties.

But Stoupa is not only about family holidays. It is the gateway to some wonderful opportunities for exploration to the magnificent scenery of Mani on foot, by bike or car and the ancient sites of Olympia, Sparta and Mistra are easily reached from here.

The delicious local cuisine, make these destinations more worthy of your visit.

You can walk until Viros river springs (2hours and 30 minutes). After that the gorge becomes difficult to walk through. Close to Viros springs several old flour mills are still preserved. The route starts from old Kardamili by going up inside the gorge. After almost an hour you will see the white/red sign that leads to Likaki monastery. Continuing towards the gorge's bed and after an hour you will reach Sotiros monastery located in the right side of the gorge. There is a visible pathway which goes upwards and leads directly to Pedino settlement ).
