There is a 24 hour Walmart and Shoprite. Area is great for antiquing, biking and white water rafting on the Delaware 15 min away. Great for doing absolutely nothing too! If you want to go nowhere, cabin is quiet and a 5 minute walk from the Toronto Lake at the end of the road, just sit in the yard and read a book or sit in front of the fire & watch a movie. Dogs are welcome.
I live and work on the Upper West side in Manhattan and enjoy renting my cabin year round, except in the coldest months of winter, depends on the temperatures! I am a freelancer so I can enjoy my cabin during the week when no one is renting it, I love it up there!
Loretta Palma purchased this cabin in 1990
The house is only 2 hours from Manhattan, 90 miles from the GW Bridge and a world away.
The cabin in situated in the center of 3 acres of woods surrounded by other wooded acres.
There are no close neighbors and the lake at end of the road, such a short, beautiful walk,
made it unique. I love kyaking and swimming and x-country skiing in the winter and this property
for me was ideal. I know it will be the perfect choice for others who, like myself, want to
get away without having to travel 3 or more hours. There is a major town nearby in Monticello
if you need to do shopping or go to a movie or restaurant, but it's far enough away to be
truly in the woods. The proximity of the other lakes in the area, Superior State Park,
White Lake in town and Black Lake down the road make it a unique area for water sports.
And now the cabin is a 5 minute drive to the Bethel Woods Music Shed and site of the
1969 Woodstock Celebration. The music festival is fantastic! and the new Woodstock Museum at the site is something you will see nowhere else, worth the trip from anywhere!
Quiet road, secluded but not isolated location, short 5 minute walk to huge natural lake Toronto, great for swimming, kyaking, fishing or cross country skiing in winter. Hard to find this much wilderness only 90 miles from NY City!
Enjoyed a relaxing weekend away from the city with my girlfriends. Great getaway for a couple or just a few girlfriends. Owner is extremely helpful and nice. Would def come back again next year!
Had another great weekend at this lovely cabin. The cabin is nice and clean and has everything you need. Nice lakes in the area and nice restaurants. We enjoyed ourselves very much!!!
This is my second time renting this cozy cabin and I was surprised to see when writing this review that some one had written a snarky review and I wanted to set things right. The only thing you smell in this house is Fresh Air and the mild reminder of the clorox used on the sinks. The cabin is cedar and you sense it when you come in but is goes away quickly as you get accustomed it, it's actually quite pleasant. The shower is aqua tiles, always clean with a lots of hot water you set yourself and great pressure, I don't know what they were talking about, the stove works fine and in general the cabin is clean and comfrortable with all the amenities.
What I love most is the lawn and having picnics on the screened porch. The lake is a 5 minute walk from the cabin and the 2 kyaks that cone with the cabin, we just push off and go exploring, there is an island on the other side of the lake to go picnicking and a great campsite the owner can tell you where to find. We came back because it was so great, if any of those snarky remarks were true we would not be back, we plan to come back in the Fall to see the colors. Don't think twice about it, book it it's a great deal.
Just got back from 5 perfect days at this wonderful find of a place. Had the best weather we had all summer, went kyaking, swimming and fishing every day. I could not believe how few people were on the lakes here, found an island owner told us about around the west side of the lake at the end of the road, the Toronto, and spent the whole day there, picnicking and swimming, you could go skinny dipping here, so few other people around. I don't know anywhere else you can find this kind naturally beautiful privacy 2 hours from Manhattan. The house itself was quiet, clean and had everything we needed, yard for sitting out and porch for dining out. I know we will be back many times, "cozy" it was but well equipped, TV's in both rooms, cd, dvd, and an old record player with great records, that was fun. 10 minutes from Bethel Woods where we had a fantastic evening. loved it!
We had a wonderful time. Nice and peaceful. Can't wait to come back...
The area is beautiful. The cabin needs a lot of updates. Antique is good when you don't have to smell it 24 hours a day on vacation. It's always dark and dump. The stove and shower are out of comments. Never had such an experience renting through VRBO.If you just need an inexpensive property, then it's fine.
