This homely and cosy apartment is located a short walk from the picturesque village of Stresa, on the shore of Lake Maggiore.

The panoramic views, enjoyed from both the living room and bright, sunny double bedroom, take in the ever-changing landscape of the Swiss and Italian Alps, their images and colours mirrored in the fresh, crystalline waters below.

Furnished to a high standard with all modern comforts, the apartment is a real ‘home from home’ and the perfect place to relax and revive; the spacious balcony offers an enchanting setting for al fresco aperitifs and dining or simply time-out for yourselves; with sun-loungers, dining table & chairs and sun umbrella, surrounded by the scents and colours of Mediterranean plants and herbs.

For your entertainment, we offer free wi-fi, UK satellite and Italian TV and a supply of books, DVDs and music. The modern and elegant kitchen area provides an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, kettle and coffee maker, fridge/freezer and a comfortable breakfast bar, whilst the lounge area comprises two comfortable leather sofas. The bathroom offers a washing machine, bath and power-shower.

Situated within a private residence, you will find yourselves in a peaceful residential area of Stresa, a 15-20 minute stroll downhill to the lakefront promenade and village centre. Here you will find the public ferry service and private taxi boats to nearby towns and places of interest (such as the Borromean Islands, Santa Caterina Monastery and Villa Taranto), a hydrofoil service to the Swiss lakeside towns of Ascona and Locarno and the train station offers regular services to local towns, other major cities such as Milan as well as Switzerland. The closest motorway exit is a 10 minute drive – if you are coming by car, there is secure parking within the residence.

A 5 minute walk from the apartment brings you to the neighbourhood of ‘Carciano’ where you will find a small supermarket, perfect for every day supplies, whilst a larger supermarket, butchers and bakers can be found in the village centre. Stresa also offers a wide choice of cafes, wine bars and restaurants – suitable for all tastes and budgets. There are also plenty of gift shops.

During the summer you will find many local markets and events in the area, and Stresa hosts a yearly Music Festival, attracting visitors from around the world.

From the Lido of Carciano, you can take the cable-car to the summit of the Mottarone, snow-capped in winter and alpine-fresh in summer; perfect for country walks, picnics, and breath-taking 360 degree views of the region’s 7 lakes. In winter, from here you can explore the 21 Mottarone ski trails: here 7 platter lifts will take you to trails of various lengths and difficulties.

Decent apartment but with issues

This apartment is located just outside Stresa up a steep hill. The apartment was clean and reasonably well equipped. However, we had annoying problems with the boiler that provides hot water and radiator heat. It seemed to have a mind of its own and would turn off randomly. The stove was difficult to light. We eventually located a lighter instead of using the stove's spark starter.

We wanted to change the sheet (only one on the bed) and could not locate another one. The local agent, Inge, while friendly and who met us at the apartment, did not show any real concern and was difficult to contact after our introduction.

There is a small grocery store within walking distance of the apartment.

Owner's Response: Dear Jocelyn and Mike, We are sorry that you had some issues with the apartment and it is important that we give you our feedback. We investigated the boiler problem immediately you informed us (which, my Agent has confirmed was on your departure date) and a loose screw was found and fixed immediately. It is such a shame you did not inform the local Agent when the issue occurred to give her the opportunity to resolve immediately. The local agent has also confirmed that she did not receive a request for additional bedding, which would have been dealt with immediately and I have requested that we leave spare bedding for future clients in the apartment just in case they they require it. The ignite button on the cooker that you have mentioned today has also been investigated and although a little stiff, is working as normal, and I am sorry you had a problem with this. I have spoken to our local Agent and she is both sorry and frustrated that she was unaware of your issues while you were in the apartment and would have responded immediately to text message requests which I understand was the agreed communication, during your stay. I hope this answers your questions and thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. Beautiful, Well-Equipped, Stunning Apartment

This beautiful apartment can only exceed expectations!

It is spotlessly clean and equipped with absolutely everything that you could possibly wish for - and more! It is in a lovely quiet location, within easy walking distance of the town and all amenities - ferries to islands, cable car to top of Mattarone and even has a well-stocked shop just 10 minutes down the road. The view from the apartment is stunnng! Sitting on the spacious terrace on a glorious evening with Andrea Bocelli on the CD player is the stuff that romantic dreams are made of.

This truly is a home away - we were only sorry that we had only booked for four days - we did enquire about staying on but another lucky person was arriving straight after we left! Thank you, we had a truly wonderful time and we will definitely return.

Lovely quiet apartment

We stayed for 1 week in this lovely apartment in June this year. Description and photos on the website are accurate and it certainly lived up to our expections. It was spotlessly clean and fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. The apartment is in a residential area and was very quiet and peaceful during our stay. The local supermarket is about 10 mins walk and has a good selection of produce and pleasant helpful staff. It is about 15 mins walk to the railway station and about 10mins further to the town centre/square where is a good selection of restaurants. The ferry terminal is at the lakefront and there are frequent ferry services going in all directions. We had hired a car so drove to Lake Orta and up to the top of Mattarone. We also took the car ferry to the other side of the lake and visited the market at Luino and another day had a boat trip to the beautiful Borromean Islands.The Lake Maggiore Express is a lovely day trip, travel up to Switzerland by train and return by boat. A lovely area of Italy and a great apartment which we wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

The good things about this apartment are Inge, local agent, and the panoramic view. Inge is a generous hostess. She gave us lots of valuable tips and is a great asset to the property. The apartment is neat, clean andwell equipped. We had great weather and spent a lot of time on the terrace where more comfortable outdoorchairs would have been appreciated. The walk from Stresa centre back up to the apartment was fine for us until the temperature reached 33 degrees. Then we took a taxi home(10 euros). We spent 9 days in Stresa and found plenty of things to do. This little town is lovely and makes a good base for exploring Lake Maggiore.

Great apartment, perfect location for dog owners

Our stay in the apartment and Stresa was perfect – so much so we have already booked for 2 weeks next year. We found it very relaxing, everything we needed was readily available and we still have more to see and do.

The apartment is located within minutes of the walking trails and about a 15 minute walk down to the waterfront, which is great for us with 2 dogs. We parked the car up when we arrived and didn’t move it all week as everything we needed was within easy walking distance.

The handover with Inge, the local agent, went seamlessly, she was punctual and offered us some great information and recommendations of places to go and things to do e.g. local supermarkets, dog walks and restaurants. We and our dogs were made to feel extremely welcome by Inge, the rest of the residents in the apartment block and Stresa.

The layout of apartment is well planned, clean and perfectly maintained. All equipment was very good from the kitchen equipment, storage space and entertainment/Wi-fi etc. couldn’t have wished for more. The outside space worked well with the dogs and we spent a lot of time relaxing and enjoying the views from the terrace.

We went to the Cafe Torino as recommended – the staff were extremely helpful, explained the menu to us, there is a good range of vegetarian food on the menu, food was excellent, reasonably priced and dogs were welcome – we will certainly be returning on our next visit.

Overall great apartment, great people and great place - we would certainly recommend it.

Wonderful holiday in Stresa

Delightful, well equiped, apartment with amazing views of the lake. Large terrace for relaxing, apartment was clean & Inge the local agent was so helpful & gave us good recommendations for restaurants & days out. We especially enjoyed Cafe Torino!! Downside was the walk UP the hill to apartment, so will definitely hire a car next time!!!

Golf: Golf Club des Iles Borromées is a 10 minute drive from Stresa. Follow the signs for the A26 motorway and Gignese. The course has 18 holes and a par of 72. Tee information: 6,122 metres. 30 electric golf carts, golf clubs and trolleys for hire. Alpino Golf Club, is situated in Vezzo, near Gignese, a 15 minute drive from Stresa. The course has 9 holes and a par of 35. Tee information: 2,723 metres. Golf clubs and carts can be rented. The Golf and Sporting Club Verbania is approximately 25 minutes drive from Stresa. The course has 9 holes and a par of 34. Take the A26 motorway from Gravellona and exit at either Baveno or Verbania.

Ski: Domobianca ski resort is around 30 minutes drive from Stresa in the direction of Gravellona. Take the E62 motorway north to Domodossala. Domobianca caters for intermediate to advanced levels and the Italian ski team train here.

Mottarone ski resort can be reached by cable car from Carciano Port or motor car (both take around 20 minutes) The drive will take you through the National Park (5 Euro) and you should follow the signs for Gignese and then Mottarone. The resort caters for beginners and intermediate levels.
