The castle has been owned by numerous families over the years. The present owners are Pat and Maria Collins who bought the property in 1995. The family have spent several years renovating the Castle to ensure that it offers tourists a totally relaxing and tranquil break. It was their priority to adopt a sensitive approach to the restoration project, ensuring that the Castle retained its historic feel while providing all modern conveniences. It has many period features, ornate cornices, high ceilings of 14 foot and large rooms with marble fire places. Guests comment they had the best night sleep ever in the large bedrooms. The family currently farm extensively on the estate.

We had a family gathering and spent a long weekend at Killaghy Castle. Pat and Marie were most welcoming and obliging during our stay. The open fire was lighting and the place was cosy and welcoming on arrival. It is secluded in it's location with a mile long avenue perfect for taking short strolls and was safe for our children playing without fear of passing cars. The playground at the entrance gate was well equipped and the children relished their visits there. (Even the exercise stations were used by some of our group!) we came away relaxed and refreshed. We will certainly be returning.
The castle's central location was ideal for an amazing tour of Ireland. The accommodation and grounds were superb. There was so much space to move around so we never felt crowded. The extra large catering kitchen came equipped with everything we needed. We would love to go back to Killaghy in the future.

It was a fabulous place to stay. Pat and Marie were friendly and helpful. We really had a relaxing time which is easy to do when you are surrounded by such beauty.
The accommodation during a fortnight holiday in February 2014 was magical. We were a group of 18 and found the dining room warm, intimate yet spacious for our meals. The drawing room was a perfect retreat for the evening with its open fireplace as it's focal point. The castle was distinctive in character with high moulded ceilings, spacious rooms and window shutters. The kitchen was a pleasure to cook, eat and relax in. The bedrooms were spacious, decorated in calming colours and had gorgeous views of the countryside. This is my third time staying at the castle and the magic remains. I hope to return again.
Our group stayed at Killaghy Castle for a week last August and it was amazing from start to finish. It was centrally located which facilitated a week long of fun. Pat and Maria were most helpful in planning our days activities. The castle is ideally located within 3 minutes walking distance of the village, shops, pubs, playground and tennis court. It is located in the middle of Ireland and is an ideal base for touring all the sights. It offers all the modern conviences of old world charm and the rooms and living areas are comfortable and warm. There is central heating throughout with high ornate ceilings and the place is full of character with the tower dating back to 1206.
Killaghy Castle was recommended by a number of friends who stayed there over the years for different functions. My family booked it for a week long stay during the summer of July 2013 for the occasion of my 50th birthday. The owner introduced us to the castle and showed us how to contact them should we need them and left us alone. Maria organised caterers for us for formal dinners and buffet lunches. The walled garden was exceptionally peaceful and relaxing and it was ideal for barbequing, reading and sunbathing. The younger children were secure whilst playing there and were always in view. We had many late nights eating and toasting my birthday throughout the week.
