Large 4 bedroomed gite (sleeps 10/12) with private heated pool

Dating from the 1850's, but completely renovated in 2006, this spacious accommodation offers a luxurious break away from it all, plus a taste of real France.

The barn has three double bedrooms (1 en-suite) and a large gallery, sleeping 4/5. In addition there are 2 bath/shower rooms and 4th toilet. For larger parties the gite has a double sofa- bed.

The fully equipped kitchen comes with all the usual appliances including catering-sized pots and pans for larger groups.

The spacious living/dining area offers direct access to the pool and deck. We have satellite TV, and a home cinema system, a large selection of books, jigsaw puzzles and games. The lower floor games room has a full size table-tennis table, a half-size snooker table and table football.

We also have high chairs and cots for very young children.

The heated pool (8 m x 4 m), large wooden deck with gas BBQ and dining table, large grassy garden, beautiful surroundings and local amenities offer something for everyone.

The G.P.S. coordinates for the gite are 45*25'35.63'N, 3*45'00.84' E [ I am using the * sign to indicate degrees].

Winter bookings of the gite [ Dec. Jan. and Feb.,March and April ] have a winter fuel supplement of 150 euros/ sterling equivalent per week. However, should the gite not require extra heating above the norm, then the fuel supplement will be fully refunded.

The pool is open from mid May until the end of September.

For groups larger than 10 persons a supplement of 10% per person per week is chargeable.

The gite is located in the heart of the Parc Naturel Regional Du Livradois Forez close to the small market town of Arlanc.There are good road links to the French Autoroute System. Le Puy-en-Velay and la ChaiseDieu are a few kilometres drive south whilst Thiers, Clermont Ferrand and Vichy are close by to the north. The town of Ambert is just 16 km away. This region is very unspoilt and retains its distinct French character. Traffic is light, traffic jams something you leave behind! Local markets are very traditional where people come to enjoy the local atmosphere as well as to sample the regional specialities. The International Music Festival at la Chaise Dieu is rightly famous through out Europe while the Country and Western Festival in near by Craponne - sur - Arzon makes for a very interesting weekend! For those interested in Romanesque architecture, the region has many wonderful examples.

Golf: Prospective guests would need to research local golf courses using the internet.

Ski: During the winter months cross country skiing is available locally.

Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency (British Pound) unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.

Notes

  • In order to have a confirmed booking we ask for a 25% deposit of the total rental charge. These monies are non- returnable unless we can rebook the period to another client.
    The outstanding balance is payable 8 weeks in advance of the rental period. We also ask for a £150 per week cleaning/damage deposit which is returnable within two weeks of the end of the rental period.
    During the winter months, December, January, February, March and April there is a fuel supplement of 150 euros per week. However, should the gite not require extra heating above the norm, then the supplement will be refunded in full. All bookings of 11 or more guests will occur a 10% supplement per person subject to discussion with owners.
    All local taxes are included in the rental charge.
    Rental rates include all energy costs except in periods of severe weather when we would make a small additional charge equal to the energy consumption over and above the norm.

  • The second (ground floor) bathroom is also a utility room. There is a large (7 kg) automatic washing machine, tumble dryer, vacuum cleaner, ironing board plus iron. Guests are provided with bath and hand towels but are expected to provide their own swimming pool towels. Guests booking for a 2 week period receive new bath towels and bed linen during their stay.

  • The Red Room. This large double room benefits from its own en-suite bathroom. The room has a large double wardrobe and chest of drawers. Views overlooking open countryside. The Blue Room. This large double room has two built-in wardrobes and chest of drawers. Views overlooking the garden and open countryside. The Pool Room. This large double room overlooks the pool, the deck and open countryside. It has a large built-in wardrobe and chest of drawers. This room is large enough for an extra single bed should it be needed. The Gallery. This large open-plan gallery was built with younger people in mind. It has two single beds as well as bunk beds offering space for 4/5 children (or adults) to share. There are three chests of drawers, two single, one double as well as hanging space. There is also a small WC with hand basin en-suite. The Gallery is situated on the third floor of the barn. A change of household linen and towels are provided during a two-week rental period.

Well - what can I say about Walnut Mill - just this. If you are in any doubt of booking this gite for your holiday - just book it and enjoy - you won't be disappointed. We were a party of 3 couples and found the gite most comfortable, light and airey, clean, very well equiped and with the most convivial owners. The pool was great (inflatables provided) as was the ping pong table which brought out our competative streat. The gentlemen of our party made good use of the bikes. Free wheeling down the hills is fantastic!! It is a beautiful area to visit with fabulous scenery.

Fantastic gite

A party of 6 adults and 1 delinquent whippet, we spent a wonderfully relaxing holiday in this gite which was light, spacious and equipped with everything we needed - the pool was the icing on the cake. Morag, John, the twins and dogs were the perfect hosts, very helpful without being over the top (hope you've solved the mole problem).
When we could tear ourselves away from the pool and ping pong table, we enjoyed discovering the surrounding area; the markets in Ambert and Arlanc, the Gorge do Loire and even ventured to the Millau Viaduct and Tarn Gorge.
Would recommend this gite.

Nice house in the countryside.

We spent a relaxed week by John and Morag and their twins, just outside Arlanc. The house is very spacious and well equipped, and the pool area facing the fields. The Mcquade’s are perfect hosts, friendly and helpful. Definitely a recommendable place to spend a few relaxed weeks.
