About Laura Madonna
I'm a writer with specific expertise in autobiographical writing and consulting. I organize studios and have published several short stories. I am happily married and have 2 sons: Mario, age 28, and Pierluigi, age 23. Registered to the LUA since 2004, I support the Academy of Silence by means of cultural initiatives in collaboration with academic professionals, not only from Lecce. I really love roses. Their variety and beauty give me 'stories' of excitement and astonishment.
Laura Madonna purchased this villa in 2001
Why Laura Madonna chose Lecce City
I believe in the values of hospitality and welcoming, and I would like to make them available to those who decide to spend a holiday in my house. In addition, the villa has an architecture typical of Salento. For me, it is a pleasure that guests, besides feeling like home, allow themselves to be lulled by an antique atmosphere, enjoying the beautiful garden. The house has a 'history' because my husband was born here. We have photos of when he was playing on the street with his toy car made of tin and when he, in Casa Colonica and without his mother consent, went to eat the chili paste with a single plate, with the peasants! Nowadays, we are very happy of having given the house, which had been abandoned for 40 years, a second life, after a 5 year renovation. Now, the house has conserved its original details but has been equipped with all the modern comforts. It rewards our strong commitment by giving us so much joy and unforgettable hours in the company of a vast number of birds chirping and animating the sky and garden. Another charming element of the villa has to do with its symbols; at the end of the entrance in front of the house, a majestic laurel and a pomegranate tree tell immortality and how the time goes by. Here Daphne and Aphrodite have had an appointment!
What makes this villa unique
This house, among many other that we have wanted to buy, has called us! It has been a silent and eloquent invitation that requested a lot of courage from us. With wonderful vaulted ceilings, the stable is now our living area with small high windows, over which the branches of the pine trees create the illusion of being in a nest. The entry under the arch seems like staying in the woods, and the silence, unusual even in a quiet town like Lecce, tell us every day that living here is an existential experience!
