Car: not necessary
Smithfield Square is in the heart of Old Dublin on the river Liffey, beside the Guinness Distillery and the Jameson Whiskey Distillery, both major tourist attractions. The apartment is situated just steps from the Luas (Dublin's new Tram system), making a huge tract of the city instantly accessible.
Smithfield has had a rich history as Dublin's biggest and oldest food market. The area has been rejuvenated during the Celtic Tiger period and is now Dublin's trendiest spot.
An eclectic mixture of old and new, the area is «alive alive o» with bars, cafes and restaurants, theaters (The Complex), Art-house cinemas (The Lighthouse), food halls (Little Italy), fish shops (Kish Fish) and a myriad of take-away foods such as Dublin's famous Fish and Chips (Beshoff's).
One of Dublin's best traditional pub (music nightly) Cobblestones, is also located on Smithfield Square. The apartment is literally on the river Liffey and only a short stroll from other notable attractions such as Temple Bar (for nightlife), the Modern Art Museum in Kilmainham, the Kilmainham Gaol, the National Museum of Decorative Arts and History in the Collins Barracks, Dublin's Four Courts, Henry Street, the Ha'penny Bridge and Molly Malone's famous Moore Street.
Also only a short stroll along the Liffey, you will find Phoenix Park, Europe's largest enclosed park and home to hundreds of wild deer, where you will visit the famous Dublin Zoo. The President of Ireland's residence as well as the American Ambassador's residence are also located in the Park.
