Overview

Edisto Island House Rental Photos and Description

House, 5 Bedrooms, 4.5 Baths, (Sleeps 12)

Very unique location on Edisto Island in gated Cowpens.

Home has a front view of marsh and Edingsville Beach with a back view of swimming pool and covered creek dock.

There is a short half mile walk or bike ride to a very private Edingsville Beach which is known for its numerous shells, fossils and shark teeth.

The area reminds me of how beach communities used to be before over-development.

Edingsville Beach is two miles long from Jeremy Inlet to Frampton Inlet, which preserve its privacy, the only other access is through a private gate.

You can find broken china and artifacts on the beach which are remnants of the areas rich history.

There used to be a village of homes used by the area plantation owners in the 1800’s. The Village of Edingsville (nicknamed ‘The Bay’) was wiped off the map in the late 1800’s by several hurricanes. English brick and broken china still wash ashore. (The living room fireplace is built out of old English Brick found on the beach)

NO parties, weddings or receptions allowed on premise!!!!

Please note, access through the gate to the beach is pedestrian only. No vehicle or golf cart access.

Only a short 15 minute drive to Edisto Beach for golf, restaurants, marina, shopping and a State Park. Charleston is a 45 minute drive and historic Beaufort is an hour drive from the house.

Edisto Beach Marina can provide deep-water access for your boat and usually have slips available to rent.

1King, 3Queens, 1full, 2twins

Keywords: House, Low Country Home, waterfront, private pool & dock

Absolutely perfect

  • 5 of 5

Our recent stay at The Bay was absolutely perfect. Every few years we escape to Edisto, and we have never stayed at a nicer place. The home is well maintained, spacious, and full of natural light that can be controlled with curtains. The marsh view from the front, with the rising and lowering of the tides, is breathtaking at any point of the day. The beach itself is generally pretty quiet and not very populated with people at any point in the day, all of which keeps it quite beautiful.

It was nice to have the pool as well. It became a late-in-the-day gathering place for our family. Seeing the basketball hoop in the photo made my nephew bring his basketball, and he was so happy to be able to shoot some hoops during our stay. Though we didn't use the doc, my husband and I had a date on the swing one evening, the day of our anniversary. We had yet another lovely view of marsh. Oh, and the front decks on both levels are lovely in the morning... a nice way to wake up to the day with cup of coffee.

I loved how the home didn't have a TV in every room. We watched on the living room TV if there was something we wanted to see. We really, we had access to whatever we wanted to see streamed. Appreciated the wifi because it allowed us to check email, but other than that, we really unplugged.

best cousin vacation

  • 5 of 5

We visited this beautiful home in July with my cousins. Seven of us are from Wisconsin, and four are from South Carolina. This was our second time here and we absolutely LOVE it. We love, love the pool, close to the beach. Collected a lot of shells and wonderful memories. It's a beautiful quiet location but so convenient to many of the other things to do in Edisto. Thank you for the most wonderful cousin time!

NC family

The house was perfect for us. The description of the house is accurate though the pictures do not do it justice. The house is inviting, nicely furnished and comfortable. The entire property is clean and well-maintained. We especially enjoyed the dock and the views from the front porches. The weather was a little cool for the kids to enjoy the pool, but it was so nicely kept and inviting they gave it a try any way. The outdoor fireplace is a very nice addition. We had a fire two nights and used the gas grill on 2 occasions. Our group consisted of my husband and myself,(we appreciated the downstairs bedroom) 3 adult children and their spouses, 3 teen-agers and a 3 yr.old. Space for everyone to share time together, but also places to have quiet time to read (sun room) or sleep late. Wish the beach was more easily accessible, (at least with golf cart) but all things considered it was not that big a deal. Definitely want to return.

The Perfect Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This VRBO property was exactly the place we had envisioned for our annual family retreat. Our rental party included our 18 month old grandson, my 70 yr old mother, sister (46yrs), husband (53 yrs), daughter & son-in-law (30 yrs), son (28 yrs) and myself (41 yrs). Eight Total

The owner & rental agency wonderful to work with. Professional. Available. Accommodating.

The home, porches, bedrooms, bathrooms, washer dryer, layout, ample parking for four-plus vehicles, kitchen, pool, outdoor seating/lounge chairs, outdoor grounds, temporary outside bottom floor covered storage on each side of the house perfect for fishing poles, wagon for grandson, beach supplies chairs, beach items, etc..., fishing, kayaking, pier and amenities (sink, swing, perfect for crabbing) fire pit, grill. Kitchen was a little smaller than we expected but adequately equipped and supplied with everything you need to prepare meals and we were able to make it work for our party of eight.

Very quiet gated street. Houses closer on each side than with ought there would be but that in no way interfered with our privacy. Amazing views of the Marsh and ocean out front and the tidal creek was clean and well-managed. Beautiful large moss draped trees fill the property. There was a nice breeze from every direction and we never encountered any bad weather or rain.

Short walk to the beach which is very private. On September, we saw no more than five people per day sharing the beach. We found very large conch shells, old bricks, horseshoe crabs, sand dollars, hermit crabs, driftwood and many unusual items.

The beach is directly next to Botany Bay. The closer you get to the protected shoreline, you will find clam beds, oyster bed, live hermit crabs in their shells, live sand dollars, crab and many amazing creatures alive and thriving.

The history of the land is rich. Excellent museum of the Island worth visiting. Beautiful oak lined, moss covered roads. We enjoyed driving around the island and enjoying the simplicity of life there.

If you are looking for vacation for leisure, Edisto Island, SC is the place to go. It remains minimally commercialized. There are excellent restaurants, access to fresh seafood daily to create your own meal and a small grocery. We stopped and purchased groceries as we were heading in for the week and only needed to supplement our purchases toward the end of the week,

We enjoyed every aspect of this wonderful home on Jeremy Cay and will absolutely return again!

The most fun and relaxing vacation ever!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I chose this vacation home because of the tidal creek behind the home . . . we have a couple of men in the family who are not beach fans and we thought the tidal creek would give them something to do to occupy their time. We were so right! We had so much fun fishing and crabbing in the canal.

I have never visited a beach like Edingsville Beach. The surroundings are so natural. Although we took our beach chairs, we very rarely sat in them. There are so many shells, sharks teeth and sand dollars to pick up and look at. Most days there were fewer than 20 people on the beach as far as we could see.

The house was also great! There was plenty of room and the kitchen was well equipped. The only problem we had all week was deciding who was going to leave to go to the grocery to pick up items we needed because no one wanted to go.

Since the area is gated and there are very few cars pass through, it is a great place for the kids to ride their bikes without worry for their safety. The salt water pool was also fantastic when you wanted a break from the beach.

The only negative we found was pedestrian access to the beach. We were informed that we could get bikes through the access and we found that difficult. Otherwise, everything was wonderful. I highly recommend this home as a vacation spot.

A memorable vacation site

  • 5 of 5

Our vacation at “The Bay” was definitely one to remember. This was our first vacation experience in Edisto, and because of the wonderful time we had swimming, fishing, bike riding, kayaking, and going to the beach, it will be the first of many! The house is roomy, comfortable and extremely well equipped with cookware. Fishing from the dock was a daily hit with the guys, the outdoor cook area was great, swimming in the big saltwater pool - wonderful, and enjoying the great breeze from the porches as we watched our grandchildren play together in the large yard was priceless. Before we got there we wondered if there would be enough to do …. as we left we realized we did not even play horseshoes, basketball, corn hole or any of the games we took with us. My husband is usually ready to get home … for the first time ever, he actually wanted to say longer! If you are looking for a place to make wonderful memories that will last a lifetime, I highly recommend this vacation home. Just be prepared … one week is not enough
