This up-scale second-floor apartment is located in the best part of Trastevere, near the Piazza Trilusso, one of Rome's most charming neighbourhoods.
It has been newly renovated with sleek modern lines, fully equipped kitchen and luxurious modern bathrooms. The living room offers a fireplace for cozy evenings, and a small terrace off the separate dining room is perfect for outdoor meals in Spring, Summer, and Fall. The apartment is on two floors, with a master bedroom and bathroom on the first floor, and another double bed, plus a single bed, and second bathroom, on the second floor.
Stroll narrow, cobbled streets lined by medieval houses, bars and restaurants. Outdoor markets and both charming and funky shops line the street too. At night both Romans and foreigners flock to its many pubs and restaurants. The area is also home to John Cabot University and the American Academy in Rome. You will be walking to St. Peters, the Botanical Gardens, Castle San Angelo, and the most beautiful Medieval Church, Santa Maria in Trastevere. Just a short stroll across the River Tiber (Tevere) is the historic centre, heart of ancient Rome, the Campo dei Fiori, Rome's most famous outdoor market, elegant Via Giulia, Piazza Navonna, and all the sites you will want to visit. The unique character of this ancient neighbourhood has attracted artists, expats, and famous Romans.
This apartment was perfect. It is in the perfect location, with restaurants and bars surrounding it but just out of the tourist mainstream. It is very well furnished and comfortable. The owner is very welcoming and helpful (without being at all intrusive or precious). The booking process through the agent was friendly and efficient. There are 2 full bathrooms!!! A rarity in the older buildings. The downstairs bedroom has a queen sized bed. The loft has a double and a sofa. The angle of the roof might make the upstairs double bed a challenge for the tall folks although we managed without any trouble.
Really enjoyed our stay here in August. The rental company were very friendly and helpful and the flat was perfect for us (2 adults with 2 children in the attic room.) We walked to all the main sights and enjoyed being in the lively area of Trastevere with its restaurant lined streets and charming squares. We sat on the balcony every evening soaking up the atmosphere.
There were many guide books in the flat and I really recommend a day trip to Ostia Antica (see the detail in the 'Rick Steves' guide.) It was really well preserved and a stunning day out with no crowds at all. Easy to get the train there. Decent cafe there too, to break the full day of sight seeing.
I would recommend the flat, it was clean, comfortable an well located.
The apartment met and exceeded my expectations. The owner was able to greet us even though our arrival was later then the stated check-in time. He showed us around the apartment and explained how things worked. He had also left a bottle of wine and a few basics in the kitchen so we could get going in the morning.
The apartment is located in a really wonderful neighborhood. There were many places to eat and to buy food to cook. We were able to walk to many of the places of interest in the city. I hope to be able to return to this apartment on my next visit to Rome.
We had a simply fantastic time in the apartment. It was very well situated, nicely decorated and very clean and had all the facilities we needed for our stay. We loved Trastevere which is much quieter than the historic centre (hardly any traffic), but comes alive at night with people visiting the many restaurants. Commendable rentals were a pleasure to deal with for all the arrangements, and sorted out a taxi for the five of us beforehand from Ciampino. Alessandro met us at the apartment and made us feel most welcome.
We ate at Il Duca restaurant beneath the apartment - a really nice meal - and went out for gelato from the shop opposite on many evenings. The jacuzzi bath was wonderful for relaxing in after a long day site-seeing. Rome is a great destination - we visited all the major sites we could fit in, and really enjoyed a train trip to Ostia Antica which is just amazing. We walked everywhere, including as far as the Borghese gallery. We found the near-ish Conad supermarket really good value and with a brilliant range of pretty much everything food-wise we could wish for. We were lucky with our trip to the Vatican museums, booking for 9am on Wednesday morning, when the focus was on St Peter's square for the pope's Wednesday audience (the galleries were a bit quieter and we went straight in (no queuing) with our pre-booked reservation - booked on the Vatican museum's website beforehand). The Capitoline museum we also found first rate - not crowded, and stuffed full of the most amazing artifacts plus a brilliant view over the Forum. It took us a little while to get used to crossing the roads - busy or what?! but what a destination - both the apartment and Rome itself exceeded all expectations.
We had a great stay in this apartment in Trestevere! We began our apartment search relatively late not realizing September was a popular time for travel to Italy and we found a lot of apartments were booked. The apartment met our needs perfectly and we really liked the neighborhood, which a lot of travel guidebooks don't describe well. Trestevere has a lot of restaurants that are popular in the evenings, and it did get a little loud later in the week but we still were very happy with the location and were glad we were not in the more crowded areas like near the Spanish Steps or the Trevi Fountain areas, which are literally packed with tourists. We liked the more local feel of the Trestevere neighborhood (although we saw plenty of other tourists too), proximity to restaurants and grocery stores, and the smaller crowds. We also walked all over Rome from the apartment, but as we got a little tired later in our stay, started to figure out how to use the bus and tram, which both have stops near the apartment.
Additionally, the apartment had great amenities and was well stocked with supplies like dish and laundry soap. The apartment was very nice, and we enjoyed the space, but the combined clothes washer/dryer was a true godsend!!!! We used the kitchen primarily for breakfasts but did have a few evening meals in the apartment. It is stocked with all the essentials. The internet access was fast, reliable, and password-protected...important since my husband had to do some work during our trip.
This was our first experience renting an apartment and I think we are hooked. It was a much more comfortable experience than staying in a hotel, and was much more cost effective than paying for two hotel rooms. I do also appreciate the quick responses from you and Susan to questions, and on check in, Alessandro, one of the owners, was also very helpful.
We highly recommend this apartment!!!!
The apartment is nothing but perfect! It is bright, sunny, with a clean decor, walking distance to all "must see places" in the city, with a grocery store at your door steep and great restaurants around.
Both showers are wonderful, fridge is huge and dishing washing is perfect.
We would rent it again for sure!
This apartment was absolutely perfect! It had modern day conveniences set inside a trendy, yet old Rome style neighborhood.
The street is very hip with lots of action at night, so it was wonderful stepping out of the apartment to restaurants, musicians, and many passerby's. Centrally located, you can take the tram 8 or buses to the sights - very convenient! The air conditioning, the jacuzzi tub and the washer/dryer combo were all a hit! The space is big which gave us time to relax. The arrival was very easy too. Alex met us, showed us around, gave us specific instructions/how to's and left us with different maps/guides of Rome. I would definitely recommend this apartment to families, girls getaway or a college reunion. Thank you again for such an easy, wonderful, and enjoyable stay.
