A little piece of Heaven.

  • 5 of 5
Having seen the property online, it seemed to tick all the boxes for us: the right area, the right size, the right price. The barn itself is lovely, decorated well and spotlessly clean, with some lovely features, and the views are stunning from just a few meters away. It is well equipped, including satellite television, comfy furniture, small but adequate kitchen, and comfortable beds. It is only a few km. from Argentat, a lovely market town, and there is a bread/grocer van that calls outside twice a week.
You will not find better hosts than Cath and Derek, for whom nothing was too much trouble, and were most hospitable, helpful, and great to talk to. (Cath make the most delightful flap jacks!)
We intend to stay here again, and would recommend it to anyone.

What a gorgeous gite with great hosts

  • 5 of 5
A wonderfully equipped, clean, modern and sympathetic conversion of an historic barn. We were a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 under 6yrs). Nestled in a small hamlet on a hill this beautiful gite provided us with the perfect base for our one week stay. Cath and Derek are lovely hosts who keep their distance but are readily available should you need help or advise. One of our initial accommodation requirements was a pool. However, the lack of pool at this property was more than compensated for by the variety of fantastic child friendly lakes nearby (with sandy beaches and lifeguards).

Third time lucky

  • 5 of 5
Our third consecutive year in a wonderful part of France. As always Derek and Cath are the perfect hosts to the point were we are now almost treated as family. The barn is spotlessly clean and well appointed and the building and surrounding area is much prettier than the best photos can portray. The thoughts of beautiful peaceful walks along tree lined roads in dappled sunshine with birds calling, to long lazy lunches at Forges and Argentat kept spirits up through a long cold winter and spring at home. We even managed to see a family of wild boar on our first evening walk. Can't recommend this destination highly enough.

Beautiful area of France.

  • 4 of 5
We stayed at the Barn for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. We were within a hours drive of some of the loveliest villages we have seen in France, especially Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne, Meyssac, Albussoc and the larger towns of Brive-la-Gaillarde and Tulle. The Barn is very clean and comfortable, is well furnished and set-up and also has free wifi. The owners are a delightful couple who are most helpful with information of the area. The Barn is situated in a peaceful and quiet hamlet, just up the hill from Forges which has a hotel/restaurants and shops. It is also not far to lovely Argentat which is situated on the river Dordogne and has many restaurants, shops a good local market. We would recommend this property to our friends. une merveilleuse semaine dans la région Limousin

  • 5 of 5

Fabulous Gite, fantastic hosts, gorgeous area

  • 5 of 5
Cath and Derek were such wonderful hosts, we could not have been more impressed with the accommodation much better than a hotel, the convenience of being in such a peaceful beautiful area with all the trappings of home. I will be recommending this Gite to anyone from home coming to this area of France.
Property was extremely clean and well maintained. The courtyard was the perfect place to sit on a warm summers evening and enjoy the serenity.
Argentat was a gorgeous little village one that you could expect from France.

The gite is located in a small tranquil hamlet of 8 properties called Espargilliere, between Argentat (11 km away) and the larger town of Tulle (20 km away). The nearest village is Forges (1.5 km away) Here you will find the local boulangerie, convenience store and the Auberge restaurant, cafe bar and convenience store. Fishing and canoeing are very well catered for on the river Dordogne. The river is excellent for fly fishing for game (cat I) and coarse (cat II) fish. If you need to cool off an open air swimming pool ' Le Splash' can be found in Argentat or ' Lac de Miel' (16km away) for those of you who prefer a dip in the lake and relaxing on a sandy beach. The surrounding countryside is ideal for hiking and cycling or for the less ambitious, leisurely walks to take in the 'breathtaking' views.

Other Activities: canoeing

Golf: There are 9 and 18 hole golf courses 'Golf du Coiroux' which is approximately 25 minutes away. Also nearby (8Km) there is a 9/18 hole pitch and putt at Pitch and Putt Naturellement L'Echaravel, St Chamant.
