Until recently, the cottage had been part of the chateau of Antigny-le-Chateau, which it overlooks. The chateau now belongs to a friend who will restore it to its proper beauty, as befits one of Burgundy's oldest baronies. We have kept the cottage for our own use two weeks a year, renting it as holiday property which allows visitors to share the joys of being in one of Burgundy's most beatiful sites.
The Cottage is by far the nicest dwelling of its kind we have seen, since we fitted ourr own personal comfort, from which guests benefit.
The cottage gives guests a unique opportunity to spend time in a traditional French village with all the comforts of a luxury dwelling. We provide six bicycles to allow guests to explore the area. The countryside is also perfect for short or long walks.
Antigny-le-Chateau, château and hamlet in the commune of Foissy, lies in the beautiful rolling hills of the Cote d'Or, 25 minutes from Beaune, 45 minutes from Dijon and Burgundy's most famous vineyards. The Chateau is one of Burgundy's oldest Baronies, with the property's earliest portions dating from the 11th Century.
The cottage and château are located at the end of a long butte, the site of a Roman encampment. Traces of Gallo-Roman settlements are still visible on the butte. There are lovely walks around the butte, easy bicycle roads and paths and picturesque farms.
