This apartment is an absolute gem! Yes, the photos are beautiful, and, to my astonishment, the apartment is even better in person! Mary, the owner, was there to greet us upon our arrival. She was incredibly friendly, helpful and thoughtful, going so far as to having a fresh arrangement on the dining table and making an Advent wreath for us since we stayed over the Christmas holiday. She has really thought of everything you may need for your stay, from tissues on the nightstands to dishtowels to laundry soap. The kitchen was nicely equipped, with service easily for a family of four or more. We had access to any extra linens or towels we needed, as her linen closet was also well stocked. Much to my delight, there was even a fan available (I love sleeping with the sound and air movement). As for sleeping, the kind bed was very comfortable and the bedroom was absolutely quiet, with no second floor above. With a double sofa bed, a double futon, a roll-away single, and a king in the bedroom, the apartment would easily accommodate a larger family. Had the weather been better we would have loved to have taken advantage of the beautiful terrace off the back, complete with thriving planters and window boxes...very charming. As to location, again, it could not have been better! A wonderfully quiet street with adequate (but expensive) parking which was great for the day of our arrival and departure. (We then moved the car to the nearest Park & Ride, for which Mary had included information, which was only 8 Euros/day.) From the beautiful street in the Jordaan, we were able to walk everywhere, with the city center being a leisurely stroll of around 30 minutes. There are also plenty of bakeries, butchers, grocery stores and wonderful wine stores within 10 minutes, with a bar or restaurant on just about every corner on the way. Once we parked the car, we just walked everywhere during our stay. I could keep going on and on; it was so lovely. I HIGHLY recommend this apartment.
