Valencia Old Town Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Period building Charming aspects Metro/tram beaches/airport 250m. FREE parking.

This central, charming & extremely spacious air-conditioned second floor apartment is located within a charming typical Valenciano Rococa styled building. Nearby 4mins walk the most 'happening' quarters of cosmopolitan Carmen & the enchanting historic city's quarters - albeit studio's location can be somewhat quieter and its most beneficial seawards orientation enjoys welcoming inshore summer sea-breezes which can be a most welcome respite after exploring the Historic city with its narrow confined & invariably in the warmer summer months, pungent airless streets.

Refurbished with comfortable fully sprung bed/s all in a clean funky retro style. Fully equipped spacious American style kitchen. Separate fully enclosed bathroom with modern fitments. Delightful living area with four French style fully shuttered windows. Two with small balconies, which all have pleasant outlooks, some enjoying outlooks over a charming leafy Convent's garden. Also access to semi-communal rooftop 16m2 terrace with charming inner city aspects.

Basic mobile WiFi 3G 'everywhere' for emails/browsing/navigation throughout city from 15€ weekly - Save on those expensive roaming charges!.

Free unrestricted on-street & nearby - 2 min large off-street public car-park free - you'll find it's the closest to the historic quarters. Otherwise factor 25€ upwards for daily parking.

Airport metro/tram access within 45 mins (change once- @ 2.20- with 'bono') or taxi 15min. The city centre's most central direct & the quickest metro/tram 15min access to fine sandy beaches 'Sagunto' L.4, 2min - no metro service within the historic quarters, due to fragility of buildings.

Maximize your stay by enjoying the best public transport, city bike hire & the city centre's keenest value supermarkets conveniently within 2-4min walk.

Outdoor Pool/ Biopark etc. Great outdoor pool set in lush sub-tropical gardens at Club Hipica just 5/6 mins walk in Calla Jaca. Used by Valencianos in 'the know'. Entrance fee 4.50€. Young children €2. Go for the day with a picnic .

See www.culturia.org to see some of Valencia's finest gardens and museums which you can access readily in just 4 mins via the 'rio de cultura' the 9 km impressive Turia river gardens.

Europes largest Biopark for over 1000 different species in a natural setting. Easily accessed by metro within 20 mins or walk/cycle through the delightful Turia river gardens either 10 mins bike or 40 mins walk.

Beaches: Malvorossa city beach & quirky charming barrio of Cabanyal. Blue Flag bathing and a broad fine sandy beach with an excellent choice of nearby restaurants/bars. Smart terraced cafes and cocktail/tapas bars abound the Americas Cup Port. Mediterranean city living doesn't get much better with its easy accessability. Its excellent value and with a myriad of subtle attractions etc

El Saler glorious fine sandy beach continuing onwards as far as the eye can see with duned backdrops, scented Pines and great cycle tracks weaving throughout. Fantastic for skaters/skate borders. 'Bus-it' easily from Plaza Reina for a couple of euros @ just 10 mins walk away.

The location's ease and accessibility whether by foot, bike or metro makes it hard to beat for enjoying all the city's best offerings night or day.

N.B Due consideration for Valencia's public transport system is a must, as it finishes early ie; 23.30 - don't be caught out, staying Kms away from the most 'happening' nocturnal quarter of lively Carmen - otherwise it'll cost! Forget taxis or long walks - in particularly throughout the numerous fiestas or just the early weekend hours!

About David Shardlow

Ex' Bristol born and live nearby to the city so I'm either close to hand or a colleague is, if problem etc.

Valencia offers its visitors subtle & fascinating charms wrapped within its layers of history & culture. You'll find it incredible value compared to many Med' cities & Valencianos refeshingly helpful & friendly.

Why David Shardlow chose Valencia Old Town

This is an unusual quirky building built some 100 years ago. Solidly constructed and well situated to enjoy the best of the city with utmost of ease. Large & tall fully opening French shuttered windows allow the light & fresh air to flood in & surprisingly for a city centre location offers charming rustic outlooks.

What makes this apartment unique

South east facing & set back from the road you'll enjoy pleasant aspects. Metro for beach, city bike hire, supermarkets all @ 2 mins. Free public off-street car-parking @ 2 mins or park free on-street - closest proximity to Historic quarters.

If your looking for something a liitle different or have no preference for wafer thin wall hotel rooms which so invariably lack in character, then look no further....

Cozy apartment near the old centre of Valencia

  • 4 of 5
We stayed for 10 days in this great apartment (studio). The old city of Valencia lays within a 10 minutes walk from the apartment. The apartment is provided with a good working kitchen, a spacious bathroom, television, dvd-player, and a stereo. We loved the authentic atmosphere of the apartment, and we truly recommend this apartment to anybody who is searching fot a loveley place to stay in Valencia. We would rent this apartment again.

Fantastic!

Perfect location with walking distance to the city center and to the tram (easy access to both the beach and airport) - yet in a quite area. In the vicinity there are a lot of restaurants to choose between and also supermarkets if you want to stay in for dinner. It simply couldn't be better.
The apartment was very nice and clean (don't let the front door and stair case scare you away!).
I strongly recommend this place to all my friends and anyone who would like to go to Valencia.

Great location, well equipped, comfortable, vfm

  • 4 of 5
We were met on our arrival and shown how to operate the air-con and washing machine, which we used, and the tv and dvd player which we didn't. Everything was clean and in working order. The shower always had hot water. Kitchen had plenty of plates, cutlery, pans, mugs etc. We had no reason to contact the owners about anything during our stay.
It is a comfortable and well equipped place to stay in a great location. The Old Town is just a few minutes' walk away, a few minutes in the opposite direction brings you to the tram stop for the beach, and the swimming pool in a nearby horse riding centre is well worth a visit. Though be wary of the "take a picnic" suggestion because they have signs up saying you can't take your own food and drink in with you - not that that stopped us. Being close to supermarkets made general stocking up very easy and patisseries were on hand and open seven days a week for fresh bread and pastries each morning.
In the apartment the air-con worked well to maintain a comfortable temperature. Spare pillows and blankets were in a cupboard. The washing machine meant being able to reduce the amount of clothing to bring for our week's stay. There are plenty of bins in the street to dump rubbish in.
I regret not trying any local restaurants so I can't say anything about any of them.
The local graffiti, unfinished building sites and some closed down shops are signs of the country's economic problems, though we found everyone we spoke to - or who volunteered to try and help us with anything - to be very friendly and helpful.
Here's what was not so brilliant, but it's not much at all. The building's narrow stone stairs need a bit of attention and I'm told they will get it next year. The front door key can sometimes take a bit of jiggling around to make it work, but you'll get used to it easily enough. Couldn't find a taxi rank nearby to go to the airport but taking the Metro with one change of train could hardly have been easier. Except that our rechargeable Metro cards didn't store any pre-paid value. We paid for the trip to the airport on a ticket machine the night before, but when we went to validate the tickets at the start of our journey in the morning they didn't work so we had to pay again - beware! Anyway, that's nothing to do with the apartment.
If we return for another visit to Valencia we would have no hesitation in staying here again, and we'll know how to use the Metro tickets properly :-)

Owner's Response: Dear Guest.
Many thanks for your kind commendations.I'm pleased that you found everything you needed to make your stay a comfortable and enjoyable one.
The stairwell is finally due for a full refurbishment this Autumn. I have had some Canadians find it quite quirky & charming but none the less all the neighbours are now in agreement to go ahead.
Hope to see you again...David

Great space, location, and service

  • 4 of 5
My mom and I made a trip from Barcelona to Valencia because we wanted to get a feel for a less touristic part of Spain. This apartment was a 10 minute walk from the bus terminal. It was also very convenient to get to the old city. Just walked a couple of blocks across the bridge/park, and we were there. Both beds were very comfortable! Want to make a special mention of how helpful the onwers were to us when we asked for help. I left an item on the bus that they tried to help me recover, and David very kindly offered to deliver us back to the terminal when it was time to go back to Barcelona. Great trip, highly recommend!

Owner's Response: I'm really pleased that you both a had a great stay in this fascinating city and its true you
can appreciate a flavour of the real Spain when compared to Spain's other two main cities and far much better value too! - and less hassle getting about. The C.14 city Serranos puente/bridge leading directly to the imposing ancient Torres de Serranos/main city gates has now just been pedestrianised and offers a tremendous feel of having stepped back in time to Valencia's C14-C15 golden age.

The recent City bike station installations (info in English on www.valenbisi.es). and easy short walks for some of the best cultural attractions not to mention bars/cafes & restaurants within the Historic City.
