Noja Villa Rental Photos and Description

Three bedroom with private garden

Located 20 minutes east of Santander within the Trasmiera Ecopark area (see videos below) and by the beach towns of Noja and Isla. This is a quality, centrally heated 3-storey semi-detached villa with private garden situated in a quiet village. On the top floor are 2 double bedrooms, 1 twin/triple bedroom and complete bathroom. On the ground floor is a fully fitted modern kitchen and a second complete bathroom. Also a spacious lounge with Spanish and British Sky TV. Off this is the dining room. Both these rooms offer views of the mountains and the sea in the distance. On the basement floor is an ample laundry room with sink, washing machine and plenty of additional storage. Outdoors is a spacious well tended garden with garden furniture supplied. Across from house is ample parking and a small plaza with children's playground and the village bowling area. Soft sandy beaches, shops & supermarkets, butcher, fish monger, restaurants, bars and an excellent golf driving range are all close by. Excellent base for a family holiday in Cantabria.

Beaches & Coast:

Superb beaches are only 5 -13 minutes drive or 3 km - 18km from the house. Some of the very best soft sandy beaches in Spain are located in this part of Northern Spain. These include Berria, Trengandin, Ris, Isla, Ajo, Langre, Loredo, Galizano and Somo. This area known as the Trasmiera Coast is noted for it´s long, fine sand beaches. They are extremely popular with surfers and water sport enthusiasts. There are many surf schools in the area and the first surfboards made in Spain were made here. Only slightly further are the beaches of Santander city which can be enjoyably accessed by the Los Reginas foot passenger ferry from Somo or Pedrena. And between each of the beaches mentioned are beautiful areas of high and low coast, important marshland areas and woodland offering lovely walks and stunning scenery. See videos of the area below.


Surfing for all levels is tremendous in this area. The owners of Casa Castillo would be happy to arrange for surf classes with one of the best surf schools in the area should any guests be interested. Classes are run by fluent English speakers and cater for all levels.

About Ken

About the owner

I live here Cantabria with my Spanish wife and our two daughters. Cantabria has been our home since 2004 and prior to that we have lived in the Basque Country, the USA, Britain, Australia and Ireland. We enjoy travel and we have a keen understanding of the needs of holidaymakers as we both work in the tourism. You can count on us to ensure that our rental property (it is not our main residence) is exactly as described and that we´ll do all possible to ensure that our guests are as comfortable as possible while staying. We´re easily reached should guests need to contact us during their stay and we´re a mine of knowledge about the Cantabria area which we´d be happy to share with guests.

Why Ken chose Noja

Cantabria is a place that my family and I love for it´s stunning countryside, superb coastline, excellent cuisine and all round good quality of life. It is a terrific place for a relaxing holiday with plenty of interesting and enjoyable things to see and do for all the family. It hasn´t been spoiled by mass tourism and is still very much off the beaten path.

Our property is located within the Trasmiera Ecopark which itself was awarded in 2011 membership of EDEN an acronym for European Destinations of Excellence.

We love the ease of access to pretty Santander, historic Santillana del Mar, Asturias and the Picos de Europa Mountains, Bilbao, San Sebastian and the Rioja wine region. We moved here for all the above reasons and specifically to this house (it is not our main residence anymore) for it´s comfort and space, it´s location in an authentic Cantabrian village, it´s close access to many fine beaches and coastline, it´s mountain and woodland surroundings and it´s ease of access to all the great places mentioned above.


Our house is an ideal base for competitors and visitors wanting to attend the ISAF Sailing World Championships in Santander in September 2014 as it is only 20 - 25 minutes by motorway from Santander city and it offers an economical alternative to costly Santander city hotels.

What makes this villa unique

Our house is a home-away-from-home for our guests. A cliche but true. It´s sturdy, very well kept, spacious, comfortable, centrally heated, well furnished and well equipped. People don´t go on holidays to be less comfortable than they would be at home and at our house they won´t be. As this is our rental property guests will not find our personal belongings lying around in wardrobes and cupboards. Once guests unpack, they´ll feel right at home. The house has 3 roomy and bright bedrooms with new beds, 2 fully fitted bathrooms, a modern, well equipped kitchen and a spacious basement laundry with plentiful storage space. The well tended garden is ample and peaceful. For our English speaking guests we have SKY TV installed. All bedlinen & towels including beachtowels are supplied.

Clean, comfortable, modern and well equipped.

The house is well situated for several activities- beaches, golf, shopping, kayaking, restaurants, supermarkets and a great animal park. The garden is lovely to chill in and enjoy a BBQ. Appreciated the "extras"- a welcome bottle of wine, outside/beach equipment and the owners support in arranging our kayak trip and a local restaurant booking. The weather was fabulous which helped too.

great stay

we had a wonderful holiday on the cantabrain coast. the beaches are wonderful.

the house was perfect - clean, spacious and a great location to explore the region and ken was a great host - able to give us advice and help whenever needed.

our kids (9 and 6) loved the area; beaches, surfing, rock-pooling, ferry to santander, wildlife park and hamburguesas !!

Antes de nada tengo que decir que fuimos la primera familia española que estaba en casa de Kent, lo cual es un honor, y es algo que me extraña pues es una propiedad que merece la pena sea cual sea tu nacionalidad.

La descripción que realiza Kent de su propiedad es perfecta e incluso se queda un poquito corta pues os aseguro que cualquier cosa que tengáis en vuestra casa y, alguna mas, la vais a encontrar allí. La cocina equipadísima con todo tipo de utensilios y electrodomésticos que podáis esperar y por supuesto como el resto de la casa con una limpieza exquisita.

Las estancias salón comedor están comunicadas lo que resulta muy cómodo para poder disfrutar de ambas y le da amplitud a la estancia. En las habitaciones no tendréis problemas para guardar vuestra ropa pues tenéis suficiente espacio de almacenamiento .

En el sótano hay una zona de lavado, plancha y juegos que resulta comodísima y en la que podréis encontrar material de ocio de todo tipo (palos de golf, juegos para niños, material de buceo etc.)

En el exterior hay un maravilloso jardín equipado con tumbonas, sillas reclinables y una mesa de madera por si queréis comer en el exterior. Sí os gusta la lectura podéis disfrutar de un buen libro entre cuidadas plantas o simplemente salir a tomar un café. Un lujo.

Por último quería dejar el factor humano. El trato dispensado por Kent es exquisito, preocupado en todo momento por nuestra comodidad y dispuesto a asesorarte sobre cualquier tema que pueda hacerte más agradable la estancia. En el cuidado de su casa y en la atención que presta a sus ocupantes te das cuenta que no alquila una propiedad sino que pretende que estés como a él le gustaría estar.

Espero que mi comentario sea útil para todas nacionalidades.

Perfect holiday in May

Hi All,

the house is well equipped and from there you can go on nice trips, especially at the coast. The beaches are really nice and clean! From middle of may til beginning of june the weather was windy, but you can go tho beach an enjoy the sun. The location is really recommended.

Fabulous villa with stunning scenery

Casa Castillo is a fabulous place to stay. The property is extremely well equipped and immaculate. It's in a lovely part of Spain, which is largely undiscovered by British tourists. There are countless beautiful beaches and stunning views within a short drive. We were a family of 5 adults but it would equally suitable for young children. The owners live very near by and nothing was too much trouble to make sure we had a wonderful holiday. I would highly recommend Cantabria in general and Casa Castillo particularly

Sorry but we do not allow pets. Smoking is not permitted inside the house. There are 3 steps to climb after you enter the main gate and a further four steps up to the front door. Access between floors is by staircase. The house is not suitable for wheelchair users.
