Two 2 bedroom romantic riverside Apartments

Bishops Rest is an elegant residence consisting of two charming apartments,each with private entrance, it is situated just 3km form the town of Porrentruy, which was for over 200 years the seat of the Prince Bishops of Basel. The area is rich in history and is one of Switzerland's best kept secrets.

The charming interior reflects the passion of a collector of bric-a-brac much of which is on display for your use and pleasure. The rooms are light and airy and decorated in the French country style.The living room has cabel television including English language channels and Wi Fi is available throughout the property. The kitchens are fully equipped.

Within the huge gardens you will find unique rock formations and even a cave. there are apple trees and plum trees,a formal rose garden and of course the river front where you can enjoy a swim or just relax with a glass of local wine or a book. You are bound to find your special corner.

Bishop's rest can be let separetly or as a whole.

Apartment 1 is on the ground floor and has 2 bedrooms,double beds, each with own bathroom/wc.

Apartment 2 is on the first floor it has an external staircase and has 2 bedrooms, with 2 single beds and one with a double bed.

The area is ideal for just relaxing,for hiking, biking, swimming.There are limestone caves in the area and a beautiful Golfcourse is just 30 mins away.

The city of Basel is a 58min train trip away and the house is just 200 meters from the station.

The French border is very close, the towns of Belfort and Montbelliard just 30 mins. away. The monthly Antique / Flea-Market in Belfort is the biggest and best in the region, it is always on the first Sunday in the Month.

Located just 3km from the historic medieval city of Porrentruy in the canton of Jura, this riverside property has 8'000 square meters of gardens and fields with intriguing rock formations there is even a cave, making it the perfect setting for exploring this part of Switzerland or for just relaxing in the region known as the Ajoie, for insiders this region is one of Switzerland's best kept secrets.

It is the ideal setting for outdoor activities including hiking, mountain biking, fishing, horse riding. There is also an excellent golf course nearby.

The limestone caves and the traces left by dinosaurs in this region are well worth a visit.

The city of Basel is within easy reach it is great for shopping and is packed with museums, world famous art galleries and many different restaurants.

The French border is just 20min away with antique shops and markets in abundance, not to mention the the various vineyards.

Perfect Get Away

This past weekend I spent two loving nights in Porrentruy at the most lovely bed and breakfast!  The two owners, Patrick (a quick witted and ever so attentive Australian) and Dieter (the quiet yet observant German), were so lovely and kind and have decorated two lovely apartments surrounded by stunning gardens with secret sitting hide aways, perfect to catch some rays or just pass time reading a book while sipping on a local wine.  You can also take a dip in the river running on the edge of the property, easily accessed with the steps installed by the thoughtful owners...no detail is missed by these two.  The price includes a lovely breakfast and if lucky, a conversation with the owners.  

Porrentruy has a rich and interesting history, ask Patrick to organize a walking tour with the most entertaining guide you will meet!

Stilvoll und großzügig mit tollem Garten!

Vier Sterne für die sehr stilvoll und charmant eingerichtete Wohnung mit vielen liebevollen Details, die einem das Wohlfühlen wie im eigenen Zuhause leicht fallen lassen! Der riesige Garten mit direktem Anschluss an das Flüsschen ist herrlich für unbeschwerte Sonnenstunden am Wasser oder unter den Apfelbäumen; Grillen, Boulespielen, Federball, Abkühlen im Wasser, einfach Chillen: für uns und unsere beiden Kinder (8 und 11) inclusive Hund war es ideal! In der Umgebung gibt es viel zu entdecken: Landschaftlich locken der Doubs, die Schluchten und Bergwälder, selbst große Seen wie der Lac de Neuchatel sind als Tagesausflug gut erreichbar. Kulturell gibt es historische Städte zu entdecken, auch die Dinospuren sind besonders für Kinder ein Highlight. Zum Einkaufen für Selbstversorger ist in Pourrentruy alles zu haben, auch in Frankreich (wenige Kilometer mit dem Auto) macht es Spaß, ein anderes Sortiment zu entdecken.
Zu erwähnen ist unbedingt die Freundlichkeit des Vermieters, der für jede Frage ein offenes Ohr hat und einem viele Tipps mit auf den Weg gibt.

Ein Stern Abzug gibt es -wenn überhaupt- nur für die Lage in relativer Nähe zum Bahngleis, doch da der Zug nur in großen zeitlichen Abständen und sehr ruhig/langsam durch die Ortschaft fährt, stört er nur empfindliche Gemüter. (Da fällt die Kirchtumglocke eher ins Gewicht....) Auch habe ich persönlich den romantischen Teil des (Rosen-) Gartens vermisst, den ich auf den Fotos so ansprechend fand, für die Kinder war das natürlich kein Thema und der Urlaub war auch ohne Rosenblüte wunderschön!
Vier Sterne also von uns. Und ein dickes Kompliment an den Vermieter, der abseits der üblichen Ramsch-Möblierung in Ferienwohnungen den Gästen ein sehr schönes Ambiente geschaffen hat.

Beautiful Home

It was one of our most beautiful an relaxing vacations. We, that means, my wife, my daughter an our dog. The appartment in the first floor was tenderly furnish, you have a full equipted kitchen, internet, LCD, pp. Great!!
If you open the windows at the back of the house you have a dreamy view to the hole property (3000 - 4000 qm) an to the nice river (you can swim there).
I was playing with my daughter, football, badminten, frisby, handball, boule the hole day. Next to the house the is a boule area located under a a hazelnuttree. Further there is a barbecue-place. Really romantic.
Our dog liked to run and to play on the grasland and to swim in the river, as I said above 3000-4000 qm, there a some appletrees. (Nice).
We enjoyed the silence an thge intact nature there.
The people who live there are friendly, hospitable an likes to have a small talk.

We took some tours there. Really lovely ist Porrentruy , St. Ursanne, Biel, Neuchatel.

Thanks a lot to the owner for the nice residence. We will come back.
