We absolutely loved our time at the beautifully restored old home. The setteing is full of character and history. It was the perfect place for a romantic retreat and escape from the world. Easy access to the national park and the coast. If quiet serenity and lovely surroundings is what you seek, this is the place for you. Can't wait to go back.
As an avid cyclist and a frequent visitor to Italy, I was delightfuly surprised to find this beautiful, imexpensive part of Italy. This wonderful, spacious and well equipped house is situated in a beautiful, peaceful location surrounded by mountains with views of the snow covered peaks of Parco Nazional d'Abruzzo, and in close proximity to the historic Abbey at Monte Casino.
I spent 10 days riding around here and every day was a new adventure, and not a tourist bus to be seen........a cyclists paradise.
At the end of the day there was always a warm welcome at "Failte" where the rest of the world seemed a million miles away.
If you want to experience real Italy you will find it here, and love it.
We stayed here in May 2009 for one week, The views from the bedroom were so nice to wake up to. We ate in the local restaurants which served excellent home made food and washed down with local wine,
The house is in an ideal location, within walking distance to local shops, chemists and of course restaurants & bars. The house makes you feel instantly relaxed and at ease, just right to recharge your batteries and enjoy they holiday.
not sure what was in store when we booked last year, but was surprise just how nice the area was and how freindly everyone was, but the best bit was the house we rented which was so nice and clean what we were told is what we got, great value great place. Would recommend this house to everyone looking for a nice place to relax and some great restaurants near by
The village of Casalattico is about a half hour walk from the house. It is very characteristic with wonderful views. Apart from houses, there is a pizzeria and a post office. At one kilometre you can find the local restaurant where you can taste traditional dishes and wine from the area and the bar is where you can meet up with the locals. The Etruscan town of Atina is 10 min. by car. On Mondays you can browse the local market or sit in the sun at one of the bars sipping coffee and people watch. Thursdays is market day in a town called Sora, a twenty minute drive from here, again an old town built by the Etruscan. 10 minutes past Sora takes you to the town of Isola Liri, unique because of the beautiful waterfall that is found in the centre of the town. You are spoilt for choice by the many local restaurants within the area, all reasonable priced. Take a drive to one of the many hill top villages to experience the traditional festas enjoyed by all the family.
Other Activities: trekking
Golf: La Grotte is about 15 minutes drive from Casalattico. The golf course is set among olive groves and non members can pay a day rate to play. Clubs can be hired on-site. The course is small, 9 hole and is merely for enjoyment. There is also another golf club in Fiuggi, about an hours drive. .
Ski: The nearest ski resort is Prato di Mezzo about 30 km. The resort is quite small but very convenient if you only want to spend a short time skiing. Other resorts are about 75 - 80 minute drive in the scenic Abruzzo Mountains. These resorts are bigger and better equipped with a choice of different graded pistes.
They are set in typical Italian mountain villages and ski equipment may be hired.
