Further details for this vacation cottage rental in Wiltshire, United Kingdom

Crows Nest Farm: No longer a working farm, Crows Nest is now a private small holding with stables, hay barn and grazing in a small farming community. The owners live on site and offer a warm welcome. Approached by a long paved driveway, The Lodge is adjacent to the main house, whilst Oaks and Brambles are located at the far end of the main rear yard area, which is set centrally in the property's 13 acres of pasture padocks. Each cottage has its own enclosed patio, and access to a shared quarter acre lawned garden with pond and a small wood. The main house is set in its own gardens bounded with mature hedges, offering ample privacy for both guests and owners. Many mature trees and ancient hedgerows add to the seclusion of the site, and there is an abundance of wildlife to observe including Deer, Owls, Buzzards, Pheasants and Kestrels. A majestic male Peacock provides an eye-catching display during the summer months. Ample parking is available on site. Bicycles etc can also be stored in the stables.

Family Friendly Accommodation: The cottages offer a relaxing environment catering for all ages, they are kept as clean and well maintained as possible. The newly fitted kitchens, with new crockery, pans and cooking utensils, are sure to please the cook in the party, alternatively BBQ and enjoy spectacular sunsets over the Cotswolds. Children are very welcome, and enjoy playing in the large lawned garden and the extensive yard area. An under-cover trampoline, tree house and pond offer further entertainment (parents please beware, supervision required). Table tennis available in the barn on request. Pony petting is also popular. During the pool opening season, sun beds and deck chairs are available for use in the main garden or by the pool, ideal for book lovers and sun seekers to enjoy their holiday whilst the more energetic play and swim. The pool is 45ft long, the water temperature is kept at about 28C. It is usually warm enough to both swim and spectate even on a dull day. Some inflatables add to the fun.

Leisure Activities in the Immediate Locality: Cleverton is part of the Somerfords group of villages, Great Somerford has a traditional village shop/post office within 3 miles providing almost everything. Every nearby village has an Inn serving good food and local ales, the nearest in Little Somerford is within walking distance (bring a torch!). Walk from the doorstep, or in ancient woodlands on nearby Somerford Common. Bring a bicycle and enjoy quiet country lanes in the Dauntsey Vale. The Cotswold Water Park is just a few minutes drive offering jet skiing, sailing, wind surfing etc and a beach with sand. Malmesbury leisure centre has a new swimming pool, squash courts and gym. Several riding schools are nearby. There are local golf courses at Brinkworth and Chippenham, and, for the more serious golfer, try Bowood House, The Park and Castle Combe championship courses. All major supermarkets within a radius of 10 miles.

Other Activities: water park, go-karting, gliding, shopping (retail outlet centre).

Review Submitted: November 4, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
The cottage was extremely well equipped, comfortable and clean. We had a short break, 3 nights, 4 days and found the whole weekend extremely quiet and relaxing. The owners were very organised and the booking and communication before arrival was very good. The welcome pack of tea, milk and juice on arrival are very welcome after a long journey. Would recommend this cottage, location to everyone.

We had a lovely stay at this holiday home. We have travelled the world for a year and so we are used to staying in many places. Within 5 minutes of our arrival we felt totally at home. Very well equipped cottage with a nice welcome of complimentary juice milk and tea. Our daughter loved the swimming pool. We look forward to returning again one day.
