Photos and Description of the Bologna vacation villa rental
Sleep up to eight people - two-storey villa

Our villa is located in Emilia Romagna, on the mountainside of Apennine Mountains, south of the almost straight two red and black lines of the state route 9 and highway A1 which re-mark the roman track of the ancient Via Emilia. More precisely it is between Modena and Bologna, close to the Panaro River valley.

Villa Loris is a peaceful place, although just off the main road which leads, in a few minutes walk, to the village of Rocca Malatina: a quiet aggregation of houses risen aside the “Sassi”, gorgeous arenaceous cliffs standing out the mild hilly landscape. The isolated proud presence of those peaks witnesses their resistance to erosion and marks on the territory the starting point of your possible daily excursions: the sober Pieve di Trebbio, the castles of Guiglia, Vignola, Monteveglio, Serravalle or Levizzano. Other charming medieval villages are spread on the hills around witnessing how rich is this area in history, nature and culture. In our web site you will find a small tourist guide thought expressly for our visitors of Villa Loris. In one hour by car you can reach Bologna, which offers the widest medieval centre and a incredible number of tourist attractions: you can browse, in our website, its dedicated cultural page in the section describing Marsala Apartment, which is our other property managed in that town. In maybe less time, you can reach also Modena, famous all over the world for the excellent cuisine and the gastronomic traditions (actually it competes for primacy with Bologna). As we are completely convinced of the importance of the gastronomic attractions of our territory (of Italy in general…) we are proud to going live in our web site with a small integrative guide, showing which are the best places to visit around for sampling the genuine local foods and wines.

Another important place to visit is Sassuolo, renowned for its monumental Palazzo Ducale, built for Francesco I d’Este by the design of Bartolomeo Avanzini in early 17th Century.

Don’t forget a visit to the “Salse di Nirano”, a geological phenomenon of international relevance: a series of mud volcanoes contrast the mild landscape offering an Icelandic-like vision. On the route, as integrative goal, we can suggest visiting the Ferrari factory, a 'place of worship' for the international fans of that brand! If you come during spring don’t forget to cross the Panaro valley, where thousands of bloomed cherry trees prepare themselves for the picking with spectacular white flowers: down in the valley of Vignola, famous are the “vignole” particularly tasty cherries.

If you come during fall, you may appreciate the “duroni”, a particular variety of sweet chestnuts and complete your experience about chestnuts visiting a chestnut wood with secular trees in competition with the Californian sequoias regarding the diameters of their trunks.

Up on the Apennine one can go trekking on Monte Cimone or even biking as there are many opportunities of playing alternative sports immersed into the nature (see the Cimone Bikepark or the Modena Golf Country club at Formigine, about 30 Km from Villa Loris).

After all, we are sure you will appreciate not only the interiors of the villa or the surrounding territory but also the relaxing moments spent in the vast meadow covering the most part of the estate.

'Villa Loris' is a magnificent mansion located up on the hills between Bologna and Modena, near Rocca Malatina. We are absolutely convinced of its great tourist potential. First of all it is located in a strategic position in the core of a hilly territory witnessing hundreds of years of history and tradition. Mild panoramas of a luxuriant human-controlled nature compete the well-known Chianti's charm in beauty. Surely Rocca Malatina is an optimal base for the wise tourist searching for the most original environments of Italy: those uncontaminated places with that particular magic which makes Italy renowned to the world travelers since the Baroque period. But the real strong point of our rental offer is the mansion’s furniture: without false modesty, we ensure you will live for a while in the spirit of our bourgeois well-to-do families of the last two centuries. The Misley family, originally from Campiglio, has his residence in the nearby historic town of Forbara, in the territory of the Romanesque church of Denzano. The original lineage rises back to a group of Catholic immigrants from England, after the Act of Supremacy of Henry VIII (1527). The family history is closely linked to Modena history, due to the social and political commitments of its numerous members. Mrs Olga Misley, involving her great sense of patronage, recently restored her mansion and furnished its rooms with many antique pieces of art of her family. We offer a double possibility to our guests: as the villa is a two-storey building, our guests may choose just to use the first level with a central living room, a dining room, a kitchen, a bathroom and a bedroom for two people; or use also the second level with other three bedrooms, a bathroom and the central family library.
