This villa occupies a prime site on the exclusive Praia-del-Rey development on the west coast of Portugal.

Located overlooking the 10th,11th and 12th holes, adjacent to a lake and with fine sea views including views of the Berlengas islands this villa is one of the finest on the estate. The sandy beach is approx. 300 m away and is ideal for surfing and long walks.

The golf clubhouse is 5 minutes walk away and the recently opened 5* Marriot Hotel is even closer.The hotel offers 2 restaurants, bars and gym/spa facilities.

The villa has a private pool, garden and terraces.

Praia-del-Rey has been chosen as Portugal’s No1 golf course (Peugeot) and is ranked 13 in Europe by Golf World.

In the area there are lots of places to visit as well as good local food and wine.

Activities: 18 hole Championship golf course rated as Portugal’s no 1 by Peugeot Golf Guide 2003 and 13th in Europe by Golf World. There are many other courses in the region including Peninha and Golden Eagle.

Seven all weather tennis courts are available to hire at the tennis centre on the resort.

A table tennis table is provided at the villa and there is game` s room at the golf clubhouse. Children’ s activity playground is also located near the clubhouse.

Surfing is very popular at the local beach whilst for small children the beach at Obidos lagoon (3KM) is better for paddling and in the summer months windsurfers,canoes etc are available for hire.

5* Marriot Hotel with spas, restaurants etc.

There is a riding centre nearby and scuba diving around the Berlengas is done from nearby Peniche.

The area: The two nearest towns are Obidos and Peniche.

Obidos is a medieval walled town with narrow streets and bougainvillaea covered houses leading to the castle at the top of the hill.

Peniche is a working fishing port where day trips to the Berlengas islands (a national park) can be taken in summer. A castle and excellent seafood restaurants complete the mix.

The coast to the north is spectacular and we would particularly recommend Nazare (cliffs,furnicular railway) and Sao Martino do Porto (sheltered bay,lovely houses,the weekend retreat for wealthy Lisbonites)

Other interesting towns are Bombarral (wine), Caldas da Rainha and Foz de Arrelho.

Additional information: We are happy to provide visitors new to the area with additional information on places to visit etc. In the villa are cards from local restaurants,things to do etc.

Praia-del-Rey is located about 1 hours drive from Lisbon Airport between the towns of Obidos and Peniche. It has the benefit of a 5* Marriot Hotel on the complex as well as superb golf and tennis facilities.

The area has a number of great beaches, beautiful forests, picturesque fishing villages and medieval walled towns.

Other Activities: wine tasting

Golf: A stunning 18 hole championship golf course with a mix of links and forest holes.

Peugeot Guide 2003 rates it as Portugal’s no 1 and Golf World rate it 13th in Europe.

Very well equipped clubhouse with excellent practice facilities including a short game practice area.

Very good English professionals-Mark and Malcolm

Buggies, trolleys and clubs are all available to rent.

Golden Eagle about 45 minutes away is also worth a visit.Very different in style (a bit easier !)and in the mountains is a nice change.You might even see one of the pairs of Golden Eagles which give the course its name.

The new course at Campo Real at Torres Vedras is due to open in October 2004 and will be about 30 minutes away.

The go;f courses around Cascais and Sintra eg Penha Longa (very good), Oitavos (recommended) and Quinta Da Marinha are just over an hour away.

Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency (Euro) unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.

Notes

  • A 20% deposit is required on booking and the balance is payable 8 weeks prior to departure. A refundable damage deposit of £250 is also required. We will collect a cheque from you which we will only cash if required. This amount is refundable within 2 weeks of return less the reasonable cost of any breakages or damage done (not including reasonable wear and tear).
    If you require the swimming pool heating, there will be a further charge of £100 per week (We don't think its needed in the summer months).
  • We are happy to discuss individual discounts for the off-peak periods.

Notes: Children are welcome but we would point out that there is a lake adjacent to the garden. A bathroom and the two twin bedrooms are on the ground floor. There is a step up to the front door. The front path (and all the paths in the resort) are of Calcadas which is like a cobble and quite bumpy.

'I would like to say how much we enjoyed our recent stay at your villa.It exceeded all our expectations in terms of location, luxury, and comfort.
The presentation of the villa was superb in every respect and is of the highest standards.
We managed to fit in a round of golf and enjoyed the pleasure playing a tough but magnificent course.
We so much enjoyed our walks on the beautiful, long deserted beaches.
The weather was magnificent throughout our stay and we are left with fond memories of our family reunion.
It was a painful experience having to leave after such a short stay but I sincerely hope we have a chance at a future date to stay again.

We stayed for a week this year and have been twice before. For us the location offers the opportunity to undertake lots of relaxing holiday options without having to overuse the car. The villa is private yet has great views over three golf holes. Inside the layout is very functional and has ensuite accommodation upsatirs with two further rooms downstairs that is ideal for children.
The golf course is amongst the best in Portugal and every day the wind changes direction offers a new golf course to play. Tennis courts on the estate are of a high standard with floodlights, and there are stunning beachwalks along the 2kms white sandy beach where you may meet nobody if you are lucky. Sadly the sea is too rough to swim in, but spectacular to watch.
The golf club is one hole away and has two eating options, as is the hotel with a superb spa, gym and restaurants.
This is a great venue for a chill out holiday.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Pet-friendly, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
