This building is located on a quiet street in Cihangir- one of Istanbul’s trendiest neighborhoods. Cozy cafes, amazing restaurants, local shops and trendy bars are everywhere you look in this neighborhood, which could explain why so many intellectuals, expats and artists choose to call it home. The metro and tram are both less than a 10 minute walk away, making it easy to get to the old town and anywhere else you might want to go. With so much to offer, it’s easy to see why the UK Guardian named Cihangir one of the top five places in the world to live.
The apartments in the Azure building pull off a rare trick as they are actually bigger, nicer and better positioned in reality than they look online. In fact we found them to be some of the best value accommodation in the whole of the regenerated Taksim/Cihangir neighbourhood, which is also one of the most popular parts of the trendy Beyo?lu district in 'new' Istanbul. First off the apartment building itself in a very quiet and safe street, and yet is also just a few minutes walk from the hustle and bustle of Taksim Square and a wealth of cafes, restaurants, shops and parks. You are also just a ten minute stroll from Tophane tram station, which carries you swiftly across the Galata Bridge towards the Eminönü and Sultanahmet districts (where the famous tourist sights are). It is also from Tophane you can quickly reach the Kabatas ferry port (great for day trips by boat) or you can carry on (via foot or bus) to see the magnificent Dolmabahçe Palace, the nearby busy suburb and port of Be?ikta? and the famous Ortaköy Mosque at the foot of the Bosphorous Bridge. Closer to home there are many supermarkets and grocery stores nearby (including two Carrefours, two Dias, a BIM and a Namli) plus many independent and specialist shops. You can also discover why the area has a reputation for being one of the most bohemian and hip in Istanbul; with lots of cool coffee bars, art galleries, boutiques and antique shops right on your doorstep. But when not out discovering the joys of shopping on the famous Istiklal boulevard, sampling the many and varied kebabs and/or cakes on offer on S?raselviler Street, checking out the latest exhibition at nearby Istanbul Modern, or jumping on a tram, tube train or ferry to see The Blue Mosque, The Grand Bazaar, one of the Princes' Islands or to even visit the Asian shore – you can kick back in a very comfortable, spacious, and well-equipped apartment that offers a big plasma TV, decent and reliable broadband wi-fi (with multiple routers serving the individual flats, a useful idea) and very efficient heating/aircon. Also, if you're in to self-catering (as we are) you'll also enjoy having four touch sensitive ceramic hobs, a state-of-the-art combination oven (with conventional fan and/or microwave options) and a full-sized family fridge freezer. The bathroom is also of a high standard with a generous walk-in shower and lots of on-demand hot water - plus it is here that the washing machine and tumble dryer are discreetly tucked away. The
I left Azure apartment almost two months ago and am still living it... This was my strategic post for a three months stay in Istanbul and I enjoyed every day. Istanbul has many centers of gravity, sights, places attracting visitors for day and for night activities, plus I have work to do walking to the office and jumping a taxi or tram & metro to go to the airport and various parts of this meg-city, and I felt this apartment was perfect for all of this.
Azure apartment helped me feel local in Cihangir - the district which is a real hidden gem of Istanbul. If you are a passing tourist, you'd hardly pay much attention to it, but if you are looking for a longer stay in a local area with easy access to main sights of Istanbul, then it may well be your best choice. It is historic and modern, loved by locals and inhabited by expats, full of cozy spots, cafes, bars, restaurants, shops for daily life, and it is commanding some of the best views to the Bosporous....
I used the apartment from the beginning of Sept to the end of November. It provided me multi-optional and easy access to all main attractions, transport infrastructure, restaurants, sports... All the apartment amenities supported my daily routine and guaranteed a chance for changing from eating out to cooking, having quiet evening after the daily buzz, catching up with news on the tv or web, and, most importantly, it allowed me to stay home away from home and still ensured my Istanbul experience never stopped when I crossed the doorstep of this apartment.
This is a good choice and great value for money if you want to extend your experience beyond hotel breakfasts and guided tours. In terms of access and connectivity - Taksim sq - 12 min walk, Istiklyal Cadessi - 8 min walk, Nevizade - 12-15 min walk, tram stop - 10 min, Carfour store - 5 min. nearest restaurants - from 30 seconds to 3 minutes and all the way further, but you'd never be hungry here. Wi-fi - round o'clock, good speed. Kitchen - all necessary cooking and eating "equipment", cutlery, crockery, pans and pots, etc. Shower, washing, drying, storage - all great!
I cannot think of any flip side, it was a perfect stay! It was my first apartment when I did my flat-hunting exercise and I came back to it once I looked up about a dozen options.
And, most important -my special thanks to the management team: Kadir and Faik, and all your staff!!! It was great dealing with you, thank you for looking after me so professionally!!! Tesekkur Ederim!
El apartamento no defrauda, es lo que se ve en las fotos: amplio, limpio, luminoso, confortable. El casero nos esperaba a nuestra llegada, es un hombre muy amable que nos dijo que nos llamáramos en caso de cualquier problema. No tuvimos ninguno.
We absolutely loved the apartment, it was very clean & very comfortable.
We honestly couldn't fault it.
What you see is what you get.
The restaurants in the area of Beyoglu/Cihangir where really good & convenient,
The managers were very helpful.
We would recommend this property to friends & family without hesitation.
My husband and I enjoyed our 6 nights at this spotless modern apt which is just as advertised, including the pictures. It is equipped with everything you need, and if anything is wanting, the staff is so accommodating and helpful - Kadir dropped by with a new frying spatula when I couldn't find one to make our eggs the first morning! All the furniture is new-looking, in great condition and comfortable. The wi-fi works perfectly. As mentioned, it's well-located to the tram, groceries, restaurants and walkable to many main attractions. The only thing that might be a drawback to some (but wasn't for us) is that it's a steep walk on narrow cobblestone roads in the area around the apt, specifically from the tram stop to the apt. We'd recommend taking the airport-apt car service offered because of this, but also because it might be hard to find the first time. That aside, this place is two thumbs up!
Very comfortable spacious apartment with a sunny living room located in a quite area just a few minutes walk from the lively Istiklal street. The location allows you to dive to the centre of modern Istanbul. Plenty of nice restaurants and cafes around, as well as numerous bakeries, groceries and department stores. The host is fantastic - very friendly and responsive. We very much enjoyed our 9-day-stay and were very delighted with our choice.
We'd agree with about everything it has already been said about this appartment however, if travelling with a small child there are a few drawbacks to reconsider.
First one is that the bedroom is so small the baby cot doesn't fit in it and the bed is too small to sleep two adults and a child.
What also didn't work for us was the fact there is no real dining room in the appartment which is sort of unusual considering there is a fully equipped kitchen there. We found it difficult to feed our one and a half year old at the low coffee table in the living room (and wasn't friendly to our backs either).
Also worth mentioning is there is no fence on the marble stairway leading up to the appartment so you really have to watch your steps and not let your lil' one out of sight even for a second.
Apart from that we enjoyed our stay there and would recommend the place.
