What a find!

  • 5 of 5
Having agreed with friends that a trip to Co. Kerry was in order, I was so excited to find this cottage, which met our needs perfectly. We usually cycle tour, but decided that we'd treat ourselves to some comfort, in the knowledge that there was plenty to go at on our doorstep.

We slept very soundly at the peaceful cottage, which was just as described by the owner and previous guests. Indeed, it was sometimes a struggle to tear ourselves away and into the outdoors, but adventures awaited.

We sea kayaked from Dingle (with Fungie the dolphin), cycled the Gap of Dunloe, Killarney National Park and the Slea Head Drive, visited the seaweed baths at Ballybunion and the superb Phoenix restaurant, bodyboarded & flew powerkites at Inch beach and Castlegregory and walked the Coomloughra horseshoe (inc. Carrauntoohil). All of this with relatively few other tourists to battle with.

We have already recommended the cottage to family and friends and would not hesitate to return. Travel from Dublin Port by car is straightforward with nice quiet motorways and our friends even made it there by train/ferry/trains from Edinburgh with their bicycles.

Owner's Response: Thanks, Emma & Richard. It's great that you managed to get so much activity into your short week and that Doras Bui cottage did the job as a good base. If you're an outdoor type and love the walking and cycling that the Dingle Peninsula has to offer, it's great to get back to an open fire and cosy surroundings at the end of each day!

February Weekend Getaway

  • 4 of 5
My wife and I had a very lovely holiday stay on the Dingle Pennisula, spending two nights in the Doras Bui! The weather was WONDERFUL, especially for February!! We spent one day touring the whole of the Dingle Pennisula, and then a day traveling the Ring of Kerry. SPECTACULAR VIEWS! Unfortunately, not enough time to take it all in. The Cottage was perfectly situated to visit both Pennisulas. Fabulous view out the front windows! Lots of character - the pictures on this website do it justice - what you see is what you get! The only downside was that it was a bit colder than we would have liked, but the fireplace made up for it. But then again, it was February .... And Nick and Anne were wonderful as well! Very accommodating, greeting us personally upon arrival, and seeing us off at the end. A perfect weekend!

October stay

  • 5 of 5
We stayed here for a couple of days and it was the perfect end to our fortnight in Ireland. The cottage was very comfortable and cosy and the owners could not have been more helpful and friendly with the logistics of getting there and arranging our stay. The location is really convenient for beaches and mountains but very peaceful and quiet if all you want to do is sit at the table outside and read your book.

Lovely quiet cottage

  • 4 of 5
Place is clean, comfortable and well equipped. It is an old stone built building with great character and the interior reflects that character.
We loved the peace and quiet as well as good access to the Dingle Peninsula, Tralee and north of there as well as Killarney and McGillycuddy's Reeks.

Romantic and quiet Cottage - great Surroundings

  • 4 of 5
The cottage is very romantic and is located in a really quite area. So if you want to relieve stress, it's the right place.
It is a very good starting point to explore Co. Kerry and to reach all the impressive surroundings, the nature, the archaeological sites and buildings in short time.

Beautiful cottage

  • 4 of 5
We loved staying at the cottage with our two small children. It's a beautiful building and lovingly furnished. The kitchen is fully equipped, too - so we got to enjoy some home-cooked meals - even outside! The children very much liked getting into the little river by the cottage - and we enjoyed the time away from city-noise!

Great place, we hope to come back one day!

Notes:
There is an efficient oil central heating system in the cottage. The heat is adjustable and can be run from either the boiler of via the living room stove (back boiler). The heating of hot water (not shower, which is electric) and radiators is via an oil-fired boiler which is metered and charged at 2.5 Euro per unit. An average 'summer week' would utilise an average of 5-8 units (12-20 Euros). There is a fixed weekly charge for electricity of 10 euros. This covers all cooking and showering plus power and lights. Towels and linen are provided free of charge and the cleaning of the cottage is included in the rental price too. Any kitchen waste and refuse can be given to the owners for disposal at the end of the rental term although we do ask that guests separate glass, newspapers, tins and plastic for recycling. A washing machine is provided, together with a 'cylinder' washing line to dry clothes. Secure private parking for up to two cars is available off road and behind the cottag
