About Paul Sykes
'Le Merlat' is the name of our small farm. It dates from 1773 and consists of an old single story farm house, attached barn and separate barn (the gite) all around a grassed courtyard area. It is set within 25 acres of pasture land including a large lake which is located down a hill behind the House and Gite.
Our main farm product is lamb; 50 ewes producing around 60 lambs a year. Our lambs remain with their mothers until they are 3 months old, and remain outside in the fields. We do not fatten them up in a barn. Our lambs are happy which means that the meat is very tender. We have repeat customers each year. We grow over 20 varieties of tomatoes ranging in size from Cherry tomatoes (of different colours) to Couer de Beouf. These are picked fresh each day and we sell them on our market stall at local markets. We have a number of fruit trees and make jams, chutneys, ketchup, Jelly and Coulis which we also sell on our market stall.

What makes this cottage unique
Families of all ages have enjoyed their stays here. Enjoying going out to explore the local area and then returning to use the pool and have a barbecue. Our nearest neighbours are farmers who are 2 fields away and so youngsters can make as much noise as they want without having to worry that they are disturbing anybody. Our aim is to provide the facilities so that guests can have a great holiday. We provide a complimentary welcome basket containing free range eggs, home made jams, etc and of course a bottle of local wine.
