Two Luxury Apartments within private gated Villa - close Beach, Tropea & Pizzo

Villa Bergamotto has been designed so that it can be rented as a whole for large families and friends, or rented individually as two separate apartments.

Villa Bergamotto has assessable parking, ideally located close to sandy beaches, restaurants and bars. Positioned centrally between the magnificent medievil towns of Tropea and Pizzo.

Recently renovated to a high specification including natural travertine marble floors and bathroom walls.

The ground floor apartment sleeps 2-8 and has a large pergola with a covered veranda, whilst the first floor sleeps 2-6 with a 40m2 sun terrace overlooking panoramic views of the sea and rolling hills all perfect for ‘al fresco’ dining.

Entry to both apartments is through a gated driveway, the villa is totally independent and has a walled garden.

On arrival you will be greeted by our lovely bi-lingual housekeeper, she will introduce you to your apartment and is available to contact during your stay for any questions you may have

Ground Floor Apartment:

The Ground Floor apartment is ideal for two couples or two families as it has two spacious double bedrooms, a large open plan lounge with large comfortable double sofa beds, a large travertine marble tiled bathroom and modern fitted kitchen with breakfast island and stools, a large pergola and a covered veranda with quality dining seating and sun loungers.

This apartment is approximately 120m2. The entrance is through double French doors from the veranda to the large open plan contemporary kitchen with dining area, the lounge area has two large comfortable sofas which can convert to double beds. Bose iPod sound station. Doors to two spacious bedrooms and luxury bathroom with separate shower, bath, bidet and WC, complimentary toiletries and a hairdryer. Door to utility room with washing machine, iron and ironing board etc.

All bedrooms are furnished with simplicity and taste with the finest quality Egyptian cotton sheets with silk filled throws.

The garden area has a granite stone driveway with young fruit trees, and potted plants.

First Floor Apartment:

This apartment has panoramic views from both terrace and balcony. Entrance door from stairs and balcony to hallway.

Villa Bergamotto is nestled in an elevated position overlooking the crystal waters of the bay and rolling hills, scattered with small olive groves and roaming goats, you truly can enjoy a bygone age of nature with a beach holiday. The villa is ideally positioned between two magnificent medieval towns of Pizzo and Tropea; both towns are only 10 min drive away.

Briatico:

Is a friendly small market town; it has numerous family run shops offering fresh local produce including restaurants and bars. The nearest beach is less than 1 km away from the villa and benefits from having quality beach side restaurants offering fresh home cooked cuisine with views over the bay they are open all year round. The beach has a raft of activities including scuba diving, snorkelling, pedalo, boat, and sun bed hire. Part of the beach has a very safe naturally shallow children’s bathing area.

Tropea:

A large lively historical town blessed with old magnificent buildings, narrow cobbled streets filled with bars, ‘al fresco’ restaurants and individual shops open until the late evening. A must do whilst in Tropea is to visit one many cliff top viewing areas where you can look out over the sea and admire the famous convent of Santa Maria Dell'Isola.

Pizzo:

Blessed with medieval origins; this little fishing town is quite stunning when you wander through its narrow streets full of ancient houses looking out over the wonderful sea views. Pizzo is also the home of Tartufo ice cream there are numerous al fresco Gelaterias serving locally produced Tartufo, it’s one of Italy’s most famous ice creams and a real delicacy, definitely a must before leaving.

PERFECT VILLA IN EVERY WAY!

After deciding to dump the usual all-inclusive binging for a Villa holiday in Italy we can honestly say that Villa Bergamotto was the perfect choice.

Upon arrival we were met by the friendly English speaking housekeeper, Amelia, She gave us a comprehensive tour of the apartment (2 large double bedrooms, beautifully finished bathroom, spacious kitchen diner and fantastic balcony) before showing us the groundfloor garage which contained a huge variety of equipment supplied by the owners for the use of guests (beach games, deck-chairs, umbrellas, snorkelling equipment, DVDs etc - all free of charge obviously).

Upon waking up the next morning we had a coffee on the balcony and took in the stunning views of completely open Italian countryside. HINT: look up how to use a traditional Italian 'Moka' coffee maker if you don't already know, better still buy one for £20 and throw that £200 coffee machine away - we now have!!!

Local beaches are all beautiful but would be hard to find were it not for the comprehensive guide left in the apartment by the owners. The closest beach is just a 5 min drive away in Briatico and has a couple of nice pizzeria's to use at lunchtime. If you want more of a 'Lido' set up (beach-side showers, changing rooms etc) then the 20 min drive to Tropea beach is well worth it.

Evenings are best spent in Tropea which really comes alive as the sun goes down. Think busy but friendly small streets lined with boutiques, ice-cream parlours and restaurants. Parking is not as official as in the UK so anywhere on any street is fine - don't waste your time trying to find a carpark - you wont find one!

When buying groceries remember that all Italians use lots of fresh, local produce and so most shops will look like a greengrocers from the front but will stock everything you need. We used two that were next to each other about 5 mins away on the main road as it was easy to pull up in front of them.

Our aim was to fully unwind so we stayed at the apartment on several days making use of the modern kitchen to have breakfast, lunch and dinner between sunbathing on the Balcony. The peaceful seclusion is amazing - there is nothing for at least a mile in any direction.

Based on the quality of all fixtures and fittings the apartment was obviously designed to be a fully functioning home and not just a holiday let - it was impossible to fault.

This ticked all the boxes for us and we'll definitely be returning I'm sure.

AMAZING PLACE TO STAY

Hé Nigel & Amanda,
We want to thank you for the great time we had during the 2 week stay in your first floor apartment.
The apartment is really amazing: the big terrace is great (we spent hours on it), your housekeeper Amelia is one of the best we ever met, everything is spotlessly clean and well maintained, the flat is well equiped too. In the garage you can really find EVERYTHING for a day on the beach.
One recommendation we could make: if possible, please install a mosquito screen in the bedroom. That would allow to sleep with open windows.
We also discovered a nice restaurant with great food in the center of Tropea: Tre Fontana. The Risotto (a la mare), the grigliata mixed (fish) and especially the pesce spada a la Tropea were delicious.
We returned the last evening because it was soooo good.
Thanks again and have a great summer period.

AMAZING LOCATION AND FABULOUS APARTMENT

We have just enjoyed our second trip here at Villa Bergamotto. The location is perfect and quality of the furnishings inside and on the terrace are 5 star. The apartments are amazing, better than the website photos and this time we had the first floor apartment which is abit smaller than the Ground Floor but it has the most amazing 360 degrees view across the bay and the green hills - perfect for enjoying the sunset each evening and still very spacious especially the main bedroom which is very large.
The villa is just a five minute drive from the beautiful sandy beaches at Briatico which are quiet, and have a couple of good restaurants and several beach bars. They also do take away pizza from just 3.5 euro each and cooked in a traditional wood fired oven - fantastic !
The two medieval town of Tropea and Pizzo are just a short 10 minute scenic drive along the coast, but its lovely to get back to tranquility at the end of each day and enjoy the wonderful space and peacefulness that Villa Bergamotto offers.
We have toured around Italy for many years and have finally found the best region for great priced cuisine, fantastic wines and excellent value for money!
We will be back!

WONDERFUL HOLIDAYS

My husband and I spent a lovely week in this first floor app. We have never seen such a good and with so much love furnished holiday app. High quality! We found everthing in it according to the description of the owner. It was very good cleaned. The best of its all was the terrace. We use it every day for breakfast and for barbeque. You could find several restaurent tips in the app. deposited by the owner. The location is good for trips to Tropea or to the beach. A few minutes to drive you can find a supermarket and everthing for daily use. It will be our first choice in case that we choose Calabria for our holiday once again. Those looking for peace is wright here.

IDYLLIC ITALIAN RETREAT

On arrival at the apartment we were most impressed, the journey from the airport was straightforward. The apartment is situated in a rural part of Southern Italy with stunning views from the terrace. The apartment was immaculate and very well maintained, everything you need is there and is all of a high quality, the bathroom is luxurious and the beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped, there has certainly been attention to detail ensuring a welcoming stay.
The Property is approximately 5 minutes drive to the beach and there are some very nice restaurants nearby. Further along the coast is Tropea which offers some beautiful beaches, plenty of shopping or you can sit and enjoy a coffee or glass of proseco and watch the world go by, again there is a huge choice of restaurants offering a good selection of high quality food, especially sea food.
Overall we would certainly recommend this property and would not hestitate in rebooking.

WONDERFUL, BEST ACCOMMODATION AND LOCATION

We had a wonderful week at Villa Bergamotto this summer, we arrived late and a lovely English speaking lady called Amelia greeted us at the house. We were so I pleased with the villa, it was stylish and furnished to a very high standard with marble floors and the most comfortable beds and an amazing bathroom! Every day we enjoyed our breakfasts outside in the dappled sun pergola and loved the peacefulness and tranquility of the house. The unlimited hot water in the shower was brilliant, unlike our last experience in Calabria. We will definitely stay here again. Also can recommend a trip to the islands as this was a lovely trip, Panerea and Stromboli are definitely worth seeing. The local beach of Briatico was our favourite as the beach is so clean and well kept with beautiful and Mario and his family looked after us so well on the beach restaurant called perla del golfo for lunch and beach side drinks. Next summer we will re-book here as it was the best holiday we have had in Italy, thank you Nigel and Amanda for all your help making this such a memorable holiday.
