Wester Caputh House is in the peaceful village of Caputh, 4 miles east of Dunkeld on the River Tay. The nearby historic cathedral town of Dunkeld is delightful. The surrounding countryside is spectacular and the house is extremely well positioned to explore Perthshire and all its treasures - The Birks of Aberfeldy, The Hermitage, Loch of The Lowes and its famous Ospreys, Blair Castle, many whisky distilleries and Pitlochry with its own small theatre. There are marvellous walking routes - anything from an easy stroll on the River Tay or Caputh Hill or The Cairngorms (an hour away) or many Munroes - Ben Lawyers & Schehallion for something more extreme! Perthshire is known as the 'Big Tree Country' and there are many old, large characterful trees in the area. There is also excellent mountain-biking close-by, many of it 'single track'. There is of course the opportunity to fish the River Tay for salmon & trout and there is also loch fishing locally.

Other Activities: white watering rafting, canoeing, 4x4 off-road, quad biking, bird watching

This was a delightful holiday house to stay in. The rooms were clean and spacious with a lovely homely feel.
It is situated about 4 miles east of Dunkeld and is perfectly situated for exploring Perthshire.
The owners were very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome.
Owner's Response: Hi Kate,
Thanks for your feedback. I am delighted you enjoyed Perthshire and that the farmhouse was suitable for your stay - the children definitely seemed to enjoy the garden!
Kind Regards,
Lesley...................

Spacious, refurbished, lots of character and charm

We really enjoyed our stay at Wester Caputh House. The owners of the house are lovely and settled us in and helped us out with local info. Although it is called a cottage it is very spacious. It is modern and tasteful yet still retains lots of character. It has 2 living rooms which means one for the kids and one for the grown ups! The kitchen has plenty of space and we managed to have a meal with 8 of us around the kitchen table. The house is very well equipped, especially the kitchen, with gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher and washing machine, microwave and a big fridge freezer (Tesco's online can deliver groceries to the house which is easy!). There is a lovely garden surrounding the house, with various areas, but as there are some steep steps and a small pond in one area, children do need to be supervised by adults in the garden. We didn't find it a problem as we enjoyed sitting outside in the garden. There is lots to do in the surrounding area. We were a family with grandparents to and we visited, Active Kids at Stanley, Stuart Towers Ice cream parlour, Perth and Dunkeld. Visitors to Dunkeld should go to the Taybank and try a stovie and go along to one of their music nights. We also did some clay pigeon shooting at the Dunkeld Hilton which is also a great place to go and have afternoon tea, go for a meal or swim and use their gym ( you can buy a weekly pass for their gym and pool). Caputh House is a great place to explore this part of Scotland from or just relax and chill out in the comfortable house. It had wifi too and a good shower! We stayed at Easter and had lovely sunny days but lit the open fire at night and had cosy evenings.
