We had a great time while visiting relatives over the Christmas holiday. This condo was very clean and was centrally located to everything. We will definitely be returning and have told our friends and family to call Panhandle Getaways the next time they plan a trip to the Panhandle.
My husband and I have been coming back to this condo for a few years due to the fact that it's the Dolphin unit 2bedroom and we love the views. This last time I was less impressed with the condo than I have been before. The central unit in the closet itself isn't loud, but it's off-balance or something because it causes this loud vibration on the wall between the kitchen and the master bedroom and it's not for someone who is a light sleeper like me!
Also the cabinets could definitely use some upgrading. Some of the knobs are coming off and they just don't look as nice as they used to. The storage drawer on the bottom of the stove is half coming off the tracks. And while we were there, a new couch and loveseat were delivered and they were soo stiff and uncomfortable to sit on. The cushions didn't sink down even when my 210-lb husband sat on them. Maybe they just need to be broken in.
Last complaint -- the Sunset company puts sunchairs and umbrellas out each morning around 7-8am and they take over the whole beachfront so there is no room for you to put your own "camp" by the ocean unless you get down there early too. Rentals for the chairs weren't too expensive, but why pay when you have your own stuff?
Outside of these complaints, we did love our stay and had a great time. We will probably always stay at Pelican Beach Resort because from what I've seen, no other condo building has as many amenities as they do! (tiki bar, deli market, covered parking, etc).
I loved Chan's deli. It was nice and convenient and their breakfast was good. I got fried eggs and bacon every morning we were there. And the tiki bar is nice, beachside, and the margaritas are AWESOME.
I love Plelican Beach resort. This unit does have a great view from both sides. Decent unit, just not the best I have been in before. It could just use some updates. No screen door on the bedroom balcony and the one off the living room didnn't work very well. Things could just be a little nicer. Maybe better tvs in the bedrooms. Just my opinion. Also, would be nice to have some beach accesorries in the room. Other than that, everything was fine.
Directly across the street from The Big Kahuna Water/Amusement Park. Walking distance to grocery and stores. Destin harbor area less than 1 mile.
