Acquaiura is a tiny medieval hamlet immersed in the peace and beauty of the Umbrian hills. It is situated 8 Km south of the town of Spoleto, famous for the arts and music Festival of the Two Worlds which takes place every year in June/July. The hamlet boasts a 15th century church dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel, with frescos attributed to the school of “Lo Spagna” and breathtaking views of Montefalco and Assisi and the mountain of Monte Fionchi (1337m).
Acquaiura is an ideal location for touring the historical towns Spoleto, Todi, Norcia, Assisi, Orvieto, Gubbio and Perugia. Local attractions include the Marmore Waterfalls – the highest waterfall in Europe and the town of Montefalco famous for wines and linens. For those who enjoy outdoor activities, Acquaiura offers magnificent walks and mountain climbing, whilst a wide range of outdoor sports are available nearby, including horse riding and pony trekking in Montebibico and rafting and fly fishing on the Nera river.
