Historic Woodstock is a picturesque yet vibrant market town set in Oxfordshire's rolling countryside. While only minutes from the dreaming spires of Oxford, the mellow honey coloured stone buildings clearly show why it is known as the 'gateway to the Cotswolds'. It is also readily accessible to and from London, and, for Shakespeare fans, Stratford-upon-Avon is only 35 miles away.
Perhaps best known for Blenheim Palace, the magnificent home of the Dukes of Marlborough since the early 1700s and now a World Heritage Site, Woodstock is also close by Bladon churchyard where Sir Winston Churchill is buried.
Woodstock boasts an impressive array of shops, galleries, pubs and restaurants, as well the 15C St Andrews Church and the Oxfordshire County Museum.
Whatever your tastes or inclinations, Woodstock will make a perfect base for your holiday.
