Great Weston Farmhouse is in the village centre of Crantock on the north coast of Cornwall, about 4 miles from Newquay and is an exceptional property which is borne out by its 5* Tourist Board grading. This Grade II listed farmhouse has been refurbished to provide superior quality accommodation. Our houses come fully equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday. Some beds are zip and link divans, offering very flexible sleeping arrangements from 4 twin bedrooms to 4 double superking bedrooms, all with their own shower or bathroom. This is one of twelve high quality cottages we have available for letting in Crantock Crantock is a hidden gem. The village offers a great base for a traditional Cornwall holiday with there being easy access to all the sights and attractions.

Crantock is a picturesque village of historical note, on the North coast of Cornwall - four miles from Newquay and with one of the best beaches in the area. It has an ancient church, two pubs a tea rooms, art galleries and a village store. Crantock Beach is a great beach for families and surfers alike. It has a wide sandy beach with sand dunes between the beach and the village. At low tide you can walk along the beach to West Pentire. Polly Joke beach is the next beach around the coast going west. It has been described as one of the best beaches in Cornwall and one of the 50 places you should visit before you die! It has to be walked to, making it less busy than other beaches in Summer. The National Trust own Crantock beach and the surrounding area so the entire flora and fauna are well protected and preserved. The Car Park limits the number of visitors to the beach. By staying in Great Weston Farmhouse there isn't any need to take the car to the beach.

  • Each of the ensuite shower rooms has a tiled floor, storage is provided in a vantiory unit. The shower enclosures in the en-suites are very generously sized being at least 90cm square (bedroom 1) and 100 cm x 76 cm in bedrooms 2 and 3. The downstairs bathroom enjoys a 90cm quadrant shower. Two of the showers (bedrooms 1 & 2) are fed from the Megaflow hot water system. Bedrooms 3 & 4 have electric showers. This means that there is always hot water no matter how many people have showers! All bathrooms have illuminated mirrors with integrated shaver sockets and plenty of storage. We provide bath sheets for our guests use, with one shower mat and a hand towel per guest.

  • All of our bedrooms are light and airy. The beds are very high quality sprung edge divans which have zip and link mattresses. This means they can be arranged as 6' superkings or 3' twin beds. Sleep under down duvets with Egyptian Cotton covers and sheets. Rest your head on down pillows, also sheathed in Egyptian cotton. Two of the bedrooms have hand made oak furniture providing plenty of hanging and storage space. The other two bedrooms have wardrobes, converted from quirky alcoves. There is an i-Pod boom box provided for guest's use either in the bedroom or communal areas. Bedroom 2 has an en-suite dressing room with day bed/sofa and TV. The very well equipped kitchen comes complete with a food processor, mixer and liquidiser. There are even baking tins and cookery books provided.

Notes: Great Weston Farmhouse is a quirky house with a number of small steps inside. This is because the house is over 500 years old and would have been home to a not terribly wealthy farmer, hence the house would have expanded with his increasing family and wealth. The location of bedroom 4 downstairs is very helpful and convenient for those who are a little infirm, as access can be gained from the front door passage and there would only be need for using steps when stepping up 1 step to the sitting room, down 1 step to the bathroom and up 2 steps to the kitchen. The new refubishment has been proven extremely popular and well received. Please go to our website to read reviews from guests. This is the only 5* rated holiday home in the area, in the words of the Rating Inspector, 'if there was a prize for 5* properties, this would win it'. Surfing &Walking: Never have enough time to enjoy the fresh air? Our guests marvel at how it is possible to go for a variety of different walks during their stay, without having take the car out! If you bring children, it's so easy to wrap up, put wellies on and walk from the houses. Your walks can be as long or short as you like. Stay on the roads or cross the fields and use the footpaths. See the seals at West Pentire, watch the kestrels swooping over the fields. Enjoy a sunset at Polly Joke with a picnic - magical. And all for free. Crantock is an ideal location to bring your dog on holiday. The beach is always open to dogs, many pubs in Cornwall are dog friendly there are many open walks to take. Surfers love Crantock. Pull on the neoprene, grab a surf board and walk down to the fantastic sandy beach. No need to load the car. Grab the waves, walk back, luxury hot shower - on with the day. If you get bored with one beach, it's only a short drive to a variety of other beaches.

Eating Out: There are two pubs in Crantock who offer local beers and home cooked food. There is also a tea room offering morning coffee, lunch and delicious Cornish Cream Teas. A short drive takes you to the Smugglers Den in Cubert, also in Cubert is a fantastic restaurant serving locally grown organic food, called Odds - well worth a visit. A short drive and you will find Jamie Oliver's 15 Restaurant at Watergate Bay. No trip to North Cornwall is complete without a day in Padstow where you will find all that Rick Stein has to offer. Travel West and visit St Ives with its artist's community and quirky shops and restaurants. It's very hard not to come home with a painting! The day will not be complete unless you visit the Tate Gallery at St Ives, nicely rounded off with lunch or afternoon tea in their rooftop restaurant complete with sea view.
