Spacious, superbly styled, hillside location with 4 bedrooms - all south facing.

This luxurious, comfortable, unpretentious, 3 floored, well equipped house for 8 people sits in its own landscaped acre of garden on a wooded slope with uninterrupted, south facing views of Loch Earn and the 2000 foot hills to the south.

The house, situated in the very pretty village of St Fillans, is your home-from-home, superbly equipped and furnished to give pleasure in abundance, with a combination of contemporary and classic Scottish décor, making it a supremely relaxing place to stay. The lounge has fabulous floor to ceiling 25 foot panoramic windows, contemporary wood burning stove, many sofas and comfy chairs to relax in, chat, read or just gaze out at the Loch and the light, catching sight of some wonderful birdlife (Ospreys, Kites, Buzzards and Eagles to name a few) or on a good day, see our two resident red squirrels eat our plums!

Mesmerizing light: We have to add a comment about the quality of the light, and the wildlife. Because we're south facing, and can look to the West - where the weather comes from! – everyone spends time unwinding, gazing at and being mesmerized by the panorama of hills, reflective water and continuously changing light.

Wildlife: With many outdoor activities just minutes away, we also challenge our guests to watch our wildlife – ospreys in season, kites, red squirrels and on the hills beyond, deer.

Garden and outside dining: The garden is a big combination of wild and structured, and is a work in progress for the owners, with recent additional terracing added. There’s a good gas BBQ and outside dining is a regular feature of life here; there’s plenty garden furniture and several seating areas to enjoy the view and listen to the peace and quiet of the Loch – and anyone who likes gardening, feel free to potter!

As well as the rural rugged beauty of the National Park, our village, picturesque St Fillans is not far from other lochs and mountains, glens, woods, towns and attractions. There’s golf (St Fillans is a 9 hole delight and Gleneagles which is hosting the 2014 Ryder Cup is nearby), distilleries, castles and shopping. Edinburgh and Glasgow (and their airports) and Oban and Glen Coe are all 1½ hours away, Stirling Castle and the Fair City of Perth each 40 minutes.

Golf: Scotland is the Home of Golf. The best Championship, Links and Parkland golf courses are accessible from St Fillans. Gleneagles is ½ hour away; St Andrews, Carnoustie and Loch Lomond, Turnberry, Muirfield and Royal Troon can all be played from here, while St Fillans’ 9 hole parkland course is a delight. There are courses for all– in Perthshire alone there are 40 courses – for every level of skills and experience - choose from idyllic parkland settings, renowned heathland courses and memorable Highland layouts.

Notes:
The kitchen is a cooks dream, with the latest equipment, extensive cookery book collection and boasts a good store cupboard of herbs, oils and spices which you are invited to use (no need to shop for the basics when you rent this home). The dining room, with seating, crockery and cutlery to serve a 5 course dinner (if you have the energy and inclination, for up to 10. The owners can organize a drop off dinner from a fantastic outside catering company if required). We have a washing machine and tumble drier, big steam iron and loads of space to dry off clothes, if you have been for a long hike or attempted the many water sports available on the loch.
