As you can see, the apartment has a plush, modern Mediterranean style. The open floor plan, private hot tub, and partial ocean-view terraces create an airy, relaxed feel that’s perfect for kicking back after exploring La Cala de Mijas and the rest of the Costa del Sol. When you’re ready to venture out, you’ll find 28,000 square meters of tropical gardens and two expansive saltwater pools in the complex. It’s quite possible to spend the entire day with the pool or the gardens to yourself.

'Coral Reef' Holiday Rental Apartment is stocked with many amenities that other apartments lack. Look in the kitchen cupboards and you’ll find everything you need to cook a mouthwatering dinner (we even have a juicer and a bread maker). We also offer two complimentary bicycles, so you can be at one of the nearby beaches, restaurants, or markets in a matter of minutes. For families with young children, we have plenty of equipment to make your stay easier, including a stroller, a baby monitor, and extra bottles.

'Coral Reef' self catering holiday rental apartment has three bedrooms: one master suite with a queen-size bed (double), one guest room with two queen-size bunk beds, and a daybed on the terrace that sleeps two. The terrace converts into a fully-enclosed room with air conditioning, blackout curtains, and a foldaway glass covering. The master bathroom includes a double sink, a bathtub, and a shower. The shared bathroom has a mosaic tile shower and Italian marble countertops and walls.

About Sophie Idh

My name is Sophie and I was born and raised outside of Stockholm, Sweden. I love riding horses, traveling, and exploring. My Norwegian husband and I currently reside in Washington, US, and fly back home to Europe at least a couple of times per year.

Why Sophie Idh chose La Cala de Mijas

When we were looking for a home to purchase in Costa del Sol, we searched all the cities, up and down the coast. When we found La Cala de Mijas it was no longer a question of what town to buy in, but what apartment complex to call our home. We quickly found Oasis Cala de Mijas, which is a high quality, low quantity complex, built with care and consideration. Only 30% of the property is built upon, leaving 28,000 square meters of well kept sub-tropical gardens, including 2 saltwater pools.

Our two apartments are located on the 2nd and 3rd floor, both accessible via an elevator. The entire complex is handicap accessible, and ideal for families traveling with children. You do not need a car while staying here, as you can walk from the apartment to just about everything, including the beach, bars, golf, restaurants, retails stores and more.

What makes this apartment unique

We love the architecture in our complex, with traditional Spanish style, combined with a modern look. Italian marble is all around, and the layout flows seamlessly from one room to another. We have included all the features that you would expect to find in your neighbor's home, so it is not just another holiday rental. Some of these features include:

Everything was better than we could have expected. We had a great week of holiday!

The apartment was excellent. (rooms, kitchen, Jacuzzi etc.) There is absolutely nothing to complain about.



Most of the time we spend at the pool enjoying the sun. We visited shopping centers and in Fuengirola and Malaga. (and of course old town in Malaga)

Every evening we visited to local restaurants. Some of us even sang karaoke at The Henry’s bar.



Hopefully we can get back to spend the holidays in your apartment.

Superb apartment with extras!

We have been holidaying in La Cala for over 11 years and can honestly say that this is the best apartment we have ever had the pleasure of staying in. All the hidden extras were a lovely surprise and we'll definitely be booking again for an out of season break. The only improvement we would have liked was some UK TV stations to watch on the occasional evenings we chose to stay in. But the quality of finish to the apartment and residencia is excellent. Thank you also to Sally for the professional and friendly welcome ��

Owner's Response: Hi Den and Caroline, Thank you so much for your kind words. We do try to have the apartment as close to your friend's home as possible. That way you can save some money by eating in, and feel relaxed when you stay in for the evening. Regarding the UK channels, the satellite service changed about 6 months ago. We have purchased Internet based TV channels and will bring the boxes down with us when we go down later this month. Apartment with every convenience

Just returned from a wonderful stay at Coral Reef in La Cala de Mijas. The apartment had everything we could wish for - with the highlight being the on-terrace hot tub. We enjoyed great weather while we were there but, being February, the pool was still a little too cool for a dip even though we did managed to get a little sunburned while sitting on the beach. The apartment is well located for many bars, restaurants and shops with Lidl acting as the 'corner shop'. Only downside for us was the sound/TV/DVD system which we found impossible to sort out, even with the aid of the ever helpful Sally. Surely it does not need to be so complicated!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for staying with us and for taking the time to share your experience with future guests. We have heard the problem with the Sound system before and will simplify it when we head down later this month. The problem is that people rewire it when they bring their own electronics along, which makes the actual world and the instructional manual not match up. The solution is unfortunately to take the sound system out, and simply use the speakers in the TV. That way our guests will just have to switch between HDMI-1 for Satellite (internet TV), HDMI-2 for the PlayStation 3, and HDMI-3 for the DVD player. We hope you will come back to see us again soon. The appartment was ok, but the City to small.

Tha appartment was fine, but small for 8 persons. We had problems with getting the key when we arrived late in the evening. The City was small and many places were closed. So not much to do there. I was told that the deposit 100 euro would be returned within 3 days from departureday, but we still haven't received them after 5 days. We are not going there again.

Owner's Response: Hi Conni, So sorry to hear that you didn't have a great time. As this is in southern Spain, on the water, a lot of shops do close up during the low season. You visited in December, so closed shops is the norm. The great thing about La Cala de Mijas is that at least half the shops actually do stay open. That is much better than most other small towns in the area. Our apartment was always advertised as being located in a small town. It should therefore be no surprise that you arrived to a small town, but we do all have different ideas of what that means. Fuengirola is 10 minutes away and Marbella is about 10 to 15 minutes by car. Both of these have massive shopping centers that are open all year long, if that is what you are looking for. The key situation must have been a misunderstanding. We have people arriving late at night all the time, without any issues. For that, and forgetting to refund your security deposit within the 3 days, I do apologize. Of course you shouldn't have to ask, but had you done so I would have taken care of it right away. It just completely skipped my mind. I have now refunded your deposit, and hope you find exactly what you are looking for when you go on your next holiday. Sophie

Wonderful stay in Spain

We had a wonderful vacation in La Cala de Mijas! The apartment was perfect. It was close to the grocery store, some great lunch places and the beach. It is a little hike to the beach, but it was easy to get to everything that it wasn't a problem. Sally greeted us and made us feel right at home. She left her info incase we needed anything during the week. We were given lists of places to go and see! The property was very clean and well maintained. I have already passed on the link to this property to several of my friends! While we stayed there we drove to Ronda, Granada, and Gibraltar. And the rest of the time we went to different parts of the beach.

Last time we were in La Cala de Mijas we did the same route as you did, except we went to Morocco instead of Gibraltar. Ronda and Granada are both very exceptional cities that everyone should visit. One great ting about this region is that there is so much to do in the season when you are not laying on the beach. Property was beautiful, clean and spacious

6 of us stayed here and we all loved every minute of our holiday. Property was lovely, clean, tidy. We loved the hot tub! The area is lovely too, close to the shops and beach. Sally and Chris were so helpful and answered any questions we had, they made us feel so welcome.

We are looking to return in 2014!

fabulous extended stay...all the amenities of home

We rented the apartment for 3 months for a language immersion program for our children. The apartment was well equipped and beautifully decorated. We loved the hot tub and high speed internet. We were walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants, the beach, golf and mountains. Fabulous stay and Einar was extremely accommodating! Thank you!

There are so many facilities in the local area that you will never run out of things to do, with or without a car. La Cala de Mijas still has that small town charm and feel, yet the sophistication and amenities of a modern city. Every Wednesday and Saturday you can walk to the local market, where you can purchase anything from fresh produce, to clothing, jewelry, and everything in between. There are Irish Bars, English Bars and Spanish Bars, all within a few blocks of each other. You will find restaurants and retail stores up and down the narrow, cobble stone streets. A 10 minute walk will take you to an amazing beach, with miles of the Costa del Sol’s finest sand. A pirate ship playground is located along the beach walk promenade, and it is a big hit with the kids, when they need a break from the ocean. Two modern grocery stores are within easy walking distance of home. Take either public transportation or a car for a 10 minute drive to the enormous local shopping mall, Parque Miramar

Golf: The apartment is situated in the Golf Valley, with 9 excellent courses, including The famous La Cala Golf, Mijas Golf, Mira Flores Golf, La Siesta Golf, La Noria Golf, Santana Golf, Calanova Golf, and El Chapatral Club de Golf.

Notes:
The holiday rental apartment is located on the 1st floor, above the garden apartment, or what is referred to as the 2nd floor in Northern Europe and the US. The 73 square meter balcony/terrace has a large section enclosed with a glass wall, that can easily be slid to one side, to open the entire area up to the sun. For the winter evenings, the glass can be put in place, and the terrace be fully enjoyed, with Infra Red heaters, if necessary. The private jacuzzi is located on the terrace, out of view from the rest of the units, for a more private experience. This apartment is located in a gated community, surrounded by 28,000 square meters of subtropical gardens, with swimming pool areas and lighted walkways for your enchanting evening strolls. While the beach, shops, restaurants and bars are just a short 5 to 10 minute walk away, you will still enjoy a tranquil and quiet apartment, with absolutely no street noise.
