Bergamo Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Exceptional Mountain views, ideal for walking and sight seeing

2 Storey apartment set in the village of Novazzo, Near Bergamo. Escape from the hustle and bustle to this mountain retreat. The property faces the picturesque Village of Spiazzi Gromo, with stunning mountains to either side of the valley and woodland walks throughout. The property has its own garage. The property itself consists of a large double bedroom on the 1st floor with a private balcony overlooking the mountains. The lower floor is the shower room and lounge, and kitchen area leading out onto a further balcony overlooking the mountains.

Out and about: Ideally located for the lakes of Northen Italy, Lake Iseo, Como and Garda. Easy day trips to Venice, Verona and Milan. Many walks local to the house in addition to Presolana. Visit the historic old town of Bergamo. Local town of Clusone has a market every Monday. Visit the Waterfall of Valbondione a very short distance from the house. For those who enjoy a bit of shopping the Orio Centre in Bergamo is the largest shopping mall in Italy. Verona offers some fantastic live performances and just a drive away from the house. Enjoy the performance as the sun sets over the Arena. If you enjoy designer shopping try the city of Bergamo or Milan with many designer shops. If you prefer the historic towns take the funicular from Bergamo to Citta Alta where you can find beautiful churches and gorgeous restaurants with spectacular views. Alternatively just take a stroll and enjoy the views.

Scenery and surrounding area: There are many local walks and there is a local map at the house for those keen hikers. If you need an energy boost there are two wonderful patisseries, one in Gromo and one in Clusone, serving beautiful cakes and mini pastries. For those who enjoy their food try one of the many restaurants in Gromo with fine Italian food from pasta, pizza, steaks to Rissoto and polenta.

Many waterfalls run down the mountains to the river, staring at the famous Valbondione waterfall. There are numerous walks along the river, including on the flat. There is a small walk from the apartment to the right hand side as you face the mountain views. Take this walk and you will find numerous waterfalls as well as a picnic area, BBQ area and a local play area for children. There is also a play area along the river from Gromo towards Clusone.

Places to see, things to do: In the Spring they have a try tabogan run at Spiazzi Gromo along with many other outdoor activities. Spiazzi Gromo is surrounded by pine woodlands and has a very open space for picnics and relaxing in the sun. If you feel like a change for the day Switzerland is approximately a 3 hour drive (make sure you take your passport!) and enroute you may wish to visit Lake Como.

Both Milan and Verona arenas and theatres are just over an hour away. Fantastic architecture and pleaces to see, eat and drink. Try the arena in Verona or the Teatro la Scala in Milan. Within 2 and half hours in the city of Venice, many of our guests take day trips there, straight down the A4. Romantic setting, and make sure you take a Gondola as you see a whole new prespective of Venice. For the more adventurus travellers, take to road to Pisa and Florence as a day trip or spend the night in the wonderful city of Florence.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Just arrived home and have been reviewing the downloaded photos. We had a fabulous time, loved the view from the balconies, taking many meals there, and walking from Rif Vodala to Mt Redondo. We had no idea there was such beauty in this area and the apartment was such a success for us. Although we did go to Lake Iseo [on a very hot and humid day] the mountains and walks were our favourite. If the flights stay we hope to be back.

Winter Holiday

  • 5 of 5

We travelled to Navazza using our own car via ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam, Amsterdam to Strasbourg, Strasbourg to Navazza. A wonderful journey taking in two city breaks and highly recommended. This was our second visit to the Apartment in Navazza for a winter skiing holiday at Gromo Spiazzi. By taking our own car we were able to take skis, boots and all the other paraphenalia required for a winter sports holiday. The apartment was well appointed, clean, warm and cosy. We had a small problem with electrics but the owner's agent sorted it out the next day. We would recommend eating at the Sports Bar in Gromo. The owners are so friendly and obliging. Ask them to make you a Lasagne or a Macarone Cheese, absolutely delicious. We would definitely recommend this apartment and this part of Italy. The mountains are magnificent, the skiing excellent and the accommodation very welcoming especially when the log fire is lit. We also like the fact that there is a garage to house the skis and car at the end of the day.

Owner's Response: It is good to see return visitors. Italy is like a home away from home for me and I am so glad so our guests feel the same.

A great place for relaxing and good impressions.

A great place - when we were there, it was QUIET, no neighbours. We ENJOYED the stay, the great views over the mountains, the landscape. Drove around in car and saw a lot of small villages, small streets, nature. No english (or danish!) spoken in the nearby towns, but the Italian people are so friendly and helps you out. No problem, that you have to drive to buy food. We enjoyed every hour in that place. The sights, the different smells, the "life" the mountains provide you: Sunny, hot, rainy, clouds being made from below you, thunder. And it can all be experienced from the balcony. We highly recommend it for friends and family in Denmark. The flat had all what we needed to live and cook and bath. We had a little trouble about the internet, but we think the "welcome"-book was lost. But we found out, bought our own sim-card in Clusone and paid 25 Euro for at week of internet. Ask the owner for advise - he´s kind and fast to answer your mail. No problem ordering the appartement. The owner is as written, kind, fast, helpfull and he´ll send you good directions when he answer your booking. Go to Novazza and get your soul and spirit loaded with good, great impressions. Be awake in the traffic. It´s a good idea to have a gps, if you want to drive up the small places, as all the mountains sometimes seems to look alike, and you can miss feeling of directions. Our route-mistakes took us to wonderfull places :) And now Danish: Det er et skønt sted - flot bjergtagende udsigt fra balkonerne.

The perfect Italian getaway!

We spent 10 wonderful days here in August. The apartment sits high up on a mountainside with breathtaking views. It’s very well fitted-out and stocking-up can be done easily with good supermarkets less than 25 minutes' drive away. It’s worth noting that there is no shop, restaurant, or bar in Valgoglio – you will have to travel 5 minutes by car down the mountain to the nearest amenities in Gromo.

You do need a car and do follow James’s directions as finding the village, let alone the apartment, is tricky! Be careful as the surrounding roads are quite narrow and uneven, with many hairpin bends.

There is plenty to explore nearby. Gromo is quaint and rural and there are plenty of walks. Further afield the lakes are all within a few hours’ travel, as are the beautiful cities of Brescia and Verona, and Venice is only a 3-hour drive. We would highly recommend Citta Alta – the old town of Bergamo – it really is a delight.

Do remember that if you are planning on driving further afield you will have to travel 45 minutes or so from the apartment to get to the Autostrada network which connects outside Bergamo. Also be wary of the tolls. All Autostrada operate tolls, the costs of which vary according to the day, and how far you are travelling. Our day trip to Venice cost around €30 in tolls. It's also worth noting that road surfaces, even on the toll roads, range from poor to awful, so do be careful.

The jewel in the crown is the balcony at the apartment. It offers a glorious vista of the mountains and surrounding countryside. If you’re up early enough the sunrise is beautiful, and during August the balcony is bathed in direct sunlight all the way through until around 2pm. The weather is very changeable but wonderfully dramatic. Cloudless sky and hot sun can suddenly turn into torrential rain, and the electrical storms are magical, particularly at night. You could quite easily while away your time relaxing on the balcony (with the help of the odd bottle of local wine) simply taking in the sights and sounds.

Overall this is the perfect Italian getaway where you can take solace from the world! It offers the perfect balance of being able to do as much or as little as you want. The pictures on the website really don’t do it justice, and it’s such a refreshing change to see an apartment that is clearly cherished and cared for by both the owners and guests alike.

We can’t remember staying anywhere this relaxing, and we can’t recommend it highly enough.

Great apartment with stunning views!

  • 5 of 5

Me and my partner spent 5 fantastic days at the apartment and were very sad to leave!

The place is very clean, spacious and has everything you could need for a comfortable stay. The main attraction is the balcony, which has amazing views of the mountains and valley below.

The location is perfect for walking and exploring the cute little Italian towns nearby, as well as day trips to places such as Lake Iseo and Bergamo, which are under an hour away. There's also restaurants, delis and supermarkets nearby for stocking up on the essentials! A car would be preferable for getting to the apartment and visiting the local towns as the location is quite remote!

The owner offered great customer service, providing very speedy responses to queries and giving excellent directions and advice on how to get to the area.

We'd definitely recommend the place to other travellers and hope to return again to Novazza soon!

Fantastic holiday

  • 5 of 5

Apartment is wonderful, well-equipped with full kitchen and all appliances, comfortable seating and bed. Views from the balconies are stunning and breakfast on the balcony a memory that will stay with us. Location is fantastic - convenient for lakes, Bergamo etc. but you don't have to do that - just exploring the local valleys and mountains would give you something different to do each day. Would absolutely recommend this apartment to anyone wanting a mountain retreat with wonderful views, walks and drives. Not forgetting the good, good food in the local towns and villages.

An unexpected delight.

  • 5 of 5

We needed a break. We looked for cheap flights from our nearest airport and then looked for accommodation.Probably not the best way to do things but it turned out to be an absolute delight for us. The area, about which we knew nothing prior to booking, was full of magnificent scenery and picturesque villages and towns. We spent most of our time walking and so there was more than sufficient to satisfy our need for R & R in the immediate locality. We were blown away by the appartment, especially the views from the balconies. If anything the description didn't do justice to the appartment, with all facilities and in excellent condition - the garage parking a real plus. We so liked the views we ate in most evenings and so really appreciated the kitchen facilities. The shower room with washing/drier machine was well used. The communication with the owner was excellent and the directions to the appartment clear so we arrived without difficulty. There were useful maps and guide books in the property but the most entertaining item was the visitors comments book. This gave a great insight to the various possibilities locally and further afield - make sure you read it first.

The property is located near the popular City of Bergamo with its historic old walled city and the new city based below, the old city accessed via cable car. The town of Gromo, with its old Castle offering many restaurants with Italian specialities. Gromo Spiazzi is located in the heart of a wide wood - offers you an ancient medieval village, along with a new urban centre with private houses and hotels. Gromo medieval ruins offer one of the best preserved Medieval Castle in the province of Bergamo; there tourists may enjoy walking through Orobie mountains or taking a break in the Spiazzi pinewood. The property is ideally located for the lakes of Italy, walking and the city of Bergamo. The property is also ideally located for trips to Venice, Switzerland or Verona where you can see a live performance as the sun sets over the arena. There are many restaurants in Gromo along with a deli, patisserie, bank, shops and grocers.

Ski: On the mountains surrounding the villages of Lizzola and Valbondione the snow lasts for many months a year and always in good conditions. The slopes are suitable for all kinds of skiers: alpine skiers who come up to the top of the mountains and cross country skiers, who stay on the slopes at the bottom of the valley. Valbondione is therefore a complete ski resort; it can host high level ski events and thanks to its geographical position, at the feet of a rocky mountain up to 3.000 metres, it offers many snowfields as great environment for ski practice. 2 chairlifts, 3 ski lifts, 2 black runs, 2 red runs and 2 blue runs. Lifts start at 1.250 meters up to 1.915 meters. 30 km of runs and 1 ski school, included in the Orobie Ski pass area. Snow conditions are always good thanks to the cold temperature and ski runs can satisfy even the best skiers. Lizzola is a typical mountain village and offers good restaurants, pubs and shops.
