C. Ragù is ideal for those who enjoy a quiet holiday in the country, but don’t want to be too far from the amenities that a large city as Porto can offer. On the ground fl. are the garage and cellar. The 1º fl. contains the living room, a kitchen, a study and a bedroom. There is also a bathroom on this level. On the 2º fl. are the very comfortable and large master bedroom, a further bedroom, a further bathroom and a box room. The cottage is centrally heated and has a fireplace in the sitting room. Children and pets are very welcome. The cottage is set in an idyllic and quiet rural area within a plot of 3,100 m² (approx. 3/4s of an acre). The gardens are fully fenced for privacy. There are citrus and many other trees to provide shade in the summer months. The cottage has a terrace which is accessed from the first floor and from which you may enjoy the garden and views. The cottage is equipped with outdoor furniture and a BBQ for the enjoyment of al fresco dining.

LOCAL AREA INFORMATION

In close vicinity to the cottage (7 km) is a park (Parque de Avioso) which is ideal for taking a stroll and which contains a children’s playground and a good restaurant. There is another very good traditional Portuguese terraced restaurant (Quinta da Camposa) within walking distance (500 m). Two other restaurants close by are situated, one in the Golf Club - Vale de Pisão, and the other one in the same street of the cottage. In the village nearby there are small groceries and supermarkets.

There is a small train station nearby that has connections to Porto, Braga and Guimarães.

LOCAL SPORT ACTIVITIES:

Golf lovers can find one of the best golf courses in the North of Portugal (Vale de Pisão) at 5 km with Club House, restaurant and bar. (For more information: http://www.valepisao.com)

At the nearby aerodrome of Vilar de Luz (2,5 km) it’s possible to practice parachuting, tandem jumps, take a flight in a Cessna or even attend flight courses. At the aerodrome you can also rent bicycle.

About Sabine & Carlo Guazzo

We are a german-italian couple, but we met in Porto, where we actually live. (Precisely we met in the Serralves Museum which we warmly recomend !)

Sabine is practising classical homoeopaty for animals, Carlo is an architect.

We don´t have children until now (but we hope that it will happen in the future !!!) and we have a very smart dog, whose name is Ciccio.

C. Ragù is near the enchanting city of Porto in the 'Green Coast' region. It’s a 30 min easy drive to the Atlantic beaches and to the city. The international airport takes a 20 min. drive. It receives flights from several of the no frills UK airlines and there are routes from London’s airports. It’s also connected to the major cities as Barcelona, Frankfurt, Madrid, Milan, Paris, Rome. From the famous Port cellars to the Museums, Porto is a city worth visiting for its immense cultural heritage (World Heritage by UNESCO). There are many river cruises which take through the steeply terraced local wine districts (WH) and past the great Port Wine Quintas. Casa Ragù is also a good starting point for a tour around neighbouring cities such as Guimarães (WH & European Capital of Culture 2012), Braga, Viana do Castelo, Aveiro, Coimbra, or more distant, as Santiago de Compostela (290 km), Lisbon (330 km), Salamanca (350 km).

Nice and quiet holiday house with a beautiful and private garden - ideal for relaxing, reading or just doing "Siesta". All required utensils were provided, incl. a quick internet option. Every time returning to the house blooming plants gave a great fragance we have really enjoyed.

One more time we spent our holidays in Casa Ragù and it was wonderful again.
We like this house so much that we booked it for the third time and now we decided to come back in March 2013!

A lovely cottage with a large garden to relax in, and even enjoy the fruit from the trees.

Our hosts were very welcoming and showed us round on arrival, and we enjoyed the complimentary bottle of wine!

The cottage is large and has a huge master bedroom upstairs which was very comfortable and beautifully furnished. The second bedroom across the landing was also very charming. It is more homely than the average rental property.

The kitchen facilities were spacious and good, and it was very useful to help ourselves to the fresh herbs growing in pots on the veranda.

A good base for exploring the area, and if you wanted to stay put and be lazy, a large garden to enjoy in the sun or the shade of the outside canopy.

I would definitely recommend this property, and hope to visit again ourselves someday.
