Relaxing break in idyllic surroundings

We are a family of five and stayed in Humpy Dumpy for a week in August. We had a wonderful time and loved the houseboat which was beautifully decorated, well equipped, and spotlessly clean. There was plenty of room for five (two adults and three older children) and we appreciated the space to sit outside and relax while watching boats on the canal.
The village is quiet and pretty, and people often waved as they walked or cycled by.
We also took the train to Amsterdam a couple of times, and explored other towns such as Edam and Hoorn by car.
We would thoroughly recommend Humpy Dumpy - it is a real find!
It may be worth pointing out that it would probably not be suitable for the infirm or families with very small children because of the steep steps leading up to the houseboat.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway

We found this little gem by accident but what a find!

We travelled to the Humpy Dumpy from the UK for the childrens’ half term holiday in May.
The distance between the UK and Holland is not much, but life couldn’t be more different.
We found ourselves relaxing on a beautifully restored houseboat at the end of a very sweet traditional Dutch Village. The children suddenly became children of an earlier generation running around exploring the countryside and taking an interest in all the wetlands and birdlife around them. My husband found himself becalmed after frantic months in the office and sat for hours in the evening looking out over the pastoral views, sipping on a glass of wine with a faint smile on this face. When we weren’t chilling out, we drove the 20km to Amsterdam and checked out that great city, and then did a bit of touring up the north of the country too. One of the best holidays we’ve had in ages. The houseboat couldn’t have been lovelier, and had everything we needed.
