This traditional Sifnian country house is situated in a 4,000 m2 piece of land characterized by a commanding view over the wider region, close to the narrow road leading to the Chrysopygi monastery. The entire area of Chrysopygi has been declared an area of extreme beauty and is subject to strict building and preservation rules.
The typical Cycladic landscape is laid out in five levels in close succession to one another. The house, which is built on the hillside facing due east to the monastery, is laid out in two levels linked by a double external staircase.
There is regular bus service to Platy Gialos resort, two kilometres away, and to the main village Apollonia, six kilometres away. The ferry port Kamares is at a distance of 12 kilometres. Hiring private means of transport is recommended.
Chrysopigi is a famous holiday location on the eastern side of Sifnos island, spread out on the slopes of two hills overlooking the scenic monastery of Mother Mary.
Visitors residing in the area have direct access to three very distinct beaches, those being Apokofto, Saoures and Platy Gyalos. Platy Gyalos is by far the larger of the three, featuring bars, restaurants, shops and a small marina at the end of the sandy beach. (10 minute drive from property)
Saoures is a small, pebbly shore with crystal clear water that is located just beside the monastery. Perfect for a quick swim. (10 minute walk from property)
Apokofto beach strikes a good balance between the former beaches. A natural cove protected from strong winds, Apokofto is a sandy, accessible beach with two traditional tavernas that provide some basic toilet and changing room facilities, as well as some of the best food in Sifnos.
